They have arcane rules and complex societies and they're open-ended and limitless, kind of like life.
Emphasis on "arcane rules" is mine. It's something we tend to forget in the rush to make game more accessible. The fact that the rules are arcane is part of the appeal. I read 2nd edition AD&D rulebooks and struggled to understand just what the hell Gary Gygax was saying when he didn't make the least attempt to write at anything below a collegiate sort of reading level. And you probably did too. Reminds one of pre-CU SWG, now doesn't it.
And that was part of the appeal. Something you completely lose when you "dumb down" the rules so that "anyone can play". (AHAHAHAHAHAHA)
We like to say "complex but not complicated". But I think we might be missing a bit of the point there. As in, actually, complicated has a great deal of appeal. " O RLY??? Told Smeddler and Torres that when you discussed the NGE???
Lol, that really cracks me up.

1. Hard-cap armor at 60%. 2. Make mind healable. 3. Hard-cap Doc Buffs at additional 125% to your basic stats (like entertainer buffs). 4. Apply the 75% damage reduction in PvP to DoTs as well.

Or it would if SOE/LA cared.

If you saw Jeff's blog post about his pushing the team 40 times a day (his words, not mine) to implement the NGE as it was, you would probably not think the same thing.
レイラニ キル'リア Who decided every addition to SWG should be a rutabaga?

But don't let his egotisical attitude fool you. He doesn't want sole credit for it eiter.

Interesting factoid, I couldn't even post THIS without someone linking to it and taking about SWG. Honestly, this blog's days are numbered...

Time to cut the devs some slack I think. You can still be mean to Smed though.
I feel no sympathy for him. He wrote it. Sometimes its best to communicate with the people that play rather then vent on a blog that will obiviously be misconstrued...if you want to call it that.

A++++ for j00 JEFF
If only the rest of the devs felt that way!
Actually I'd prefer if the decision makers at LA/SOE would think that way.

I can just picture some dev sticking his head into Jeff's office and going "Guess who has another of his blog's posts being posted about on the forum?" and Jeff putting his head into his hands mumbling "ah cripes, forgot to take that down".
