Interesting factoid, I couldn't even post THIS without someone linking to it and taking about SWG. Honestly, this blog's days are numbered...

Time to cut the devs some slack I think. You can still be mean to Smed though.
I feel no sympathy for him. He wrote it. Sometimes its best to communicate with the people that play rather then vent on a blog that will obiviously be misconstrued...if you want to call it that.
He has a blog.
It's not anonymous.
He talks about games, video games, roleplaying games, and philosophies which he knows are vitally linked to a significant portion of his consumer base's displeasure.
And somehow he thinks it's not going to be brought up by us?
That is, again, the exact lack of forward thinking that brought us to the NGE at release.
レイラニ キル'リア Who decided every addition to SWG should be a rutabaga?

If you saw Jeff's blog post about his pushing the team 40 times a day (his words, not mine) to implement the NGE as it was, you would probably not think the same thing.
o rly now? Hmm...
Happen to have a link to that post? I just did a quick look through the months and didnt see it. I really want to read it.

If he did, can u say FIRED!
Umm ... that website looks pretty genuine to me.
No, what I'm saying is.........if he stated his feelings like that in the SWG forums he would prolly get fired.

It has been removed since then. Google Shenanigans (spelling not withstanding) and Jeff Freeman

Now all that will happen is a ban for poor ol' me ... w/o giving any reason of course lol.

1. Hard-cap armor at 60%. 2. Make mind healable. 3. Hard-cap Doc Buffs at additional 125% to your basic stats (like entertainer buffs). 4. Apply the 75% damage reduction in PvP to DoTs as well.

Well if the NGE has a 6 month roll out plan like the person who leaked it said.....then maybe in the end it might be better, who knows........granted I hate the NGE to, but I'm curious to see what happens.

exactly, he has the attitude that this is what is good for other games, not SWG.
im curious about , if he has time to type a blog, and then sees it posted here and has time to run back and delete or modify it .. why cant he actually post on the games own dedicated forum?

knowledge is power....we can't give that to our players..........got to continue to to burn all those books.........
well its stupid , he is reading the forums because he saw the post ... just continue to fuel my beleif that once you pay for a sub , you are not important to SOE anymore , but if you dont sub feel free to read all kinds of things that motivate me or what we think about somewhere else.

Honestly, most programmers of any significant caliber adopt a pretty "high and mighty" attitude. Exactly what is the point of posting ones opinion on the web unless it is read?
Its an ego trip. He is no different. Except for one small fact, he doesn't expect the players to react negatively.
I don't speak about SWG on my blog. I may speak about game design in
general, or high level design concept sorts of things that aren't
appropriate for discussion here. But to speak about SWG specifically:
well I'd do that on these forums.
Certainly when I was a younger man, I was willing to devote a great
deal of time to mastering arcane rules just to be able to play a game.
But those days are long gone. SWG needed to be a lot more accessible.
It also needed to be a lot more maintainable.
SWG needs depth and complexity too, but it can't be the thing that
greets new players at the door. That complexity needs to be built on a
solid foundation; and the game itself needed to be easier to get into
and more directed.
