The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, works great with JTL. Dont let the cheap price fool yah, its just another reason to get one. The heavy base keeps it from sliding and tilting over.

totally agree. all players i've recommended the stick too never had one complaint. Its a good size and nice well placed buttons. Throttle is simple and easy to manage, just an overall good stick.

I was fussing with one of those today in my as-yet futile search for an X52 to play with. I can say that, to date, Logitech's sticks have _the_best_ feel to them of any modern stick I've tried. They're slick, solid, and just plain feel good.
Having said that, the only reason I haven't bought one is due to it's [relative] lack of multi-directional switches. I was spoiled for years by my SUNCOM F-15E Talon (which had three buttons + trigger, a hat switch and a castle switch) back when I had a computer with an AT keyboard port, and now the presence of at least two mutli-directional switches is required for me. However, if you're not so spoiled as me, I'd buy one of these in an instant.
it too bad microsoft discontinued the sidewinder joysticks i have mine and love it if you can find one in good conditionor stillonthe shelf i'd grab it
just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun
Incidentally, the Logitech Freedom 2.4 has an absolutely BRILLIANT feel to it, and is one of the best sticks on the market in my opinion. For those of you that hate batteries or high price tags, they make a near-identical stick with a wire on it for $40.
trying to use my old ps analog pad... worx fine, but too sensitive-cant be adjusted,no force
so now watched some newer sticks...
but i still need suggestions, pls
need a stick with:
-maaaany buttons, including 1 or 2 shifts... btw it says on some saitek it had 2 shifts... is that 1 function on 2 buttons, or 2 functions???
- force feedback
-general good quality (centering, feeling, adjustability, handling)
-maybe wireless (are there any with force+wireless?...usb is limited to 3m, right?(have my cpu 10m away:-)
my choice would be saiteks evo force, but it aint wirelss... anyone has it?how longs the cable??isit worth 60€??
thx for any advice
For a reasonably priced stick the saitek x45 has the most buttons. The x52 is the new version but saitek and LA are working together to get it to work in JTL so I'd hold off on buying one till it works.
Wireless does not have force feed back because the batteries can't run the servos. I don't really like forcefeedback myself. It's fun for a while but in the long wrong it's just a hassle.
For a good quality stick I would recommend a logitech. Microsoft is a good stick as well but they are discontinued.
As far as distance from the computer, you can pick up a usb extension cable that will add more length to the cord of any stick (i'm not sure the exact length limitations on USB and what happens when you get past them), I think they usually cost around $10 or $15 US.
Most sticks out now should have more than enough buttons to setup the way you want. I guess you'll need to determine what all you want to program to the stick and get an actual button count before you buy a stick.

I tried a Saitek for a different game awhile back... Never got it to work. The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is my first flight stick and I am very satisfied!
Just a few quick questions for those of you with loads of experiance: Ive not owned a joystick since the original XWvTIE, but I bought my Logitech 3d Pro for Battlefield Vietnam about a year ago. Its pretty fecked up now, it almost continually moves to the right, so my hand is agony after a session from wrestling with the thing. It also sometimes gets confused when I pull back on the stick, and my ships starts behaving as if Im jerking it forwards then back and forwward again
Do modern joysticks really need to be replaced yearly? Im a pretty big bloke, my hands are huge and I always end up putting a lot of power behind my stick movements, even if Im trying to do it lightly, and the 3d Pro was the only stick I could find that looked like it wouldnt snap off in my hands. Its also the only stick avilable I can find with 12 buttons, and with JTL, I NEED those twelve buttons.
Ive already tried removing the baseplate and cleaning it with Canned Air, and that made no difference. Its getting to the point where I have trouble taking on slow-moving fighters like Y-Wings, because even when I let it go, the stick keeps jumping around.
So is it just general wear and tear(in which case Ill grumble and shell out for another), or is there a more sturdy stick out there for us big ham-fisted gits that doesnt cost a massive amount of cash?
