Passive skill all the way.. PvP is already a nightmare of confusion..

Please PLEASE PLEASE make lightsaber reflection a passive skill that simply targets your current combat target

and on a side note..

Certain weapons like flamethrowers and lightning cannons should not be reflectable at all!

This gets into saber forms...some were purely defensive and only deflected shots...while some like vader's form actively tried to reflect bolts back at opponent..The jedi order frowned upon deliberately relfecting bolts back at a living creature.

Saber Reflection.....

Passive or Active skill?

Would it be more fun if it was an active skill you used against a target?

What if passively you only had a chance to DE-flect, but targeted on an enemy you had a chance to reflect?

When should you be able to reflect?  A small chance even at initiate ramping up to 100% at Master?

Could this sufficiently do away with the need for armor?

random question: If you had a Jedi robe, would you really wear it?  Wouldn't that be a bit dangerous?

Answer any or all questions, if you have your own version of how it could work or if you think Jedi shouldn't be able to block a gnort please let me know!

Passive - reflects back to whoever shot at you. Shots just come way too fast for conscious control, which is why we have the force to help us anticipate -before- the shot is fired. Can't really do that with a manually controlled function in a game. Also, if you tied to your targetting, then you would be taking every shot that is fired at you, and directing them all toward a single target - which might not be a bad thing, but if given a choice between having that happen all the time, or having shots reflected back to the originator all the time, I'll take the reflecting back to the originator.

AND it also reflects the state that was attached to it. Love to see those whacky carbine guys dizzying and knocking down themselves.

Maybe make it a toggle so it's either on or off. If you want to be purely defensive, you use block, if you want to send shots back at whoever fired them, you use reflect. Or add another toggle so that when it's on, you can choose the behavior - direct back to originator, or direct at current target.

Definately it should ramp up with level.

It can't do away with the need for armor unless it also reflects melee attacks and every damage type.

If I had a jedi robe, I might wear it...unless it clearly identified me to everyone as a jedi - in which case I would only wear it at the secret jedi annual picnic.

active REflection

yea

What if passively you only had a chance to DE-flect, but targeted on an enemy you had a chance to reflect?

full damage? damage type too?

When should you be able to reflect?  A small chance even at initiate ramping up to 100% at Master?

padawan to start, 100% at master

Could this sufficiently do away with the need for armor?

no, still have melee

random question: If you had a Jedi robe, would you really wear it?  Wouldn't that be a bit dangerous?

if, i could deal with melee and ranged def well, yes

Saber deflection should be passive. It's like the block skill.

Saber reflection should be the Jedi version of /centerofbeing. Say you get it at the Padawan box. When you activate it, you go into a 'reflect' mode.

I would wear the jedi robes.

Well after the revamp saber's will block melee, so block will then need to be looked at again.

The armor issue is pretty easy, composite armor is way to high already, 76 elec,43 stun, 85 base composite suit warriors run rampit. That is the major problem, but all jedi know we should not need the armor, the only armor worn in the EU by jedi's was always called jedi armor. There is many pictures of these types of armor's and they were light armor's. These should be the only armor's we can wear.

Lightsaber reflection is and should be considered counter attack, but in nature counter attack is a dark jedi skill. So it's hard to deal with, but i think jedi should get counter attack which should be there mod that regulates reflections.
