Playing SWG is like licking a steel post in the wintertime. Sure it hurts. If you leave, parts of you will remain. Well, Not true, it's like licking a steel post in wintertime. Sure it hurts. If you do it, you must be left wondering, "Why?".
I dislike the idea that new people can instantly become a jedi, but since i was pre-cu jedi and worked my butt off for it i have that right
I think you should be able to shoot anywhere, and not just when targetting someone. . . It'd add a bit more realism if you can miss (besides attack rolls), by not aiming in the right place.
Besides that I haven't gotten to play much because I got the infamous Falcon ramp bug. . .
I think that maybe further down we should be able to change professions, but we should have to do a whole series of quests in order to unlock the ability to change to another profession.
Will post more feedback later on as i get to play.
Also. . . I don't think the Devs should do any more drastic changes like this and not tell us about it ahead of time.
I understand why they did it, because people will flame about it, but bypassing the customers and forcing something on us with no warning is going a bit far.
Though I have only explored up till the Falcon platform, I have to say the opening sequence was very impressive. It was very laggy, but I think it captures the Star Wars theme and suddenly puts the player in the frame of mind that they are part of the continuing saga. Seeing Chewy, Han, and R2D2 right off the bat helps.
Thanks to the team that is standing by and putting up with our forum rants and trying to accomodate a larger than expected ( I'm assuming) player base.
In short, from what I've seen, I like it. I'm not sure how I feel about the images of the characters from the movie, but I can deal with that. Not a problem.
The controls? Not unlike several other games I've played - no, I'm not drawing a comparison, I'm simply making a statement that they're NOT hard to get the hang of. Fairly easy, actually. Left click to attack, said and done. It's a bit simple, but that's not a bad thing.
Now, my opinion is a bit skewed, because I'm currently stuck at the MF ramp (no, I'm not complaining, this is a test of the system, better here than live). I DO like the closer movie tie-in with the opening. Having recognizable characters show up is a nice bit of flaire that they didn't have to add, but did. A nice effect.
I'm looking forward to getting on the ground game (currently logged out, hoping for better luck next time I can get in), but so far I'm not as disapointed as I thought I would be.
When I first heard of it I was shocked and disappointed about it. It seems like another CU being pushed on us. Now that I see it ( only to the yt ramp) it seems interesting but should be swg2 many peeps enjoyed pre cu swg and even postcu swg. I think it was wrong to release it after toow. I am looking forward to testing it been trying for 2 days now and only got in once to get stuck on the ramp. I am dissapointed about my jedi being nerfd yet again and would hope we get to have some classic servers. other than that it looks fun in its own right and hopfully it will be.
First thoughts were yall trying to do a /last ditch this or game dies
all the innovations of what made swg special gone
no concern for those that cannot play a twich based game i.e older players or handicapped players
that there is no concern for your current players only what players will come once new box marketing goes in affect, up coming holiday sales
that anyone that disagreed with changes didn't matter because the changes will go forward no matter what
started remembering all the burning harverstors after cu
and only hope is that this change does away with hurry up and wait for a group
Realizing past experiences on test center when bugs were actively reported but still went live
Where am i at now, accepting there is nada i can do about changes and just wait and see if you acatuly pay attention to your testers and do a better job at bug fixing, then your past history
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Surpise and excitment about such fundamental changes.
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
Different feeling than the old SWG but I liked it
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
Never got to play an hour as I either got stuck on the ramp or crashed to desktop every time (and I tried often) at the same place, when trying to enter the falcon after the movie chase sequence.
What class did you choose to play?
Jedi / Spy These classes interest me most but can't say anything yet as they play the same in the first rooms of the tutorial
What do you like the most about NGE?
Faster paced gameplay
What do you dislike about NGE?
The too simplistic skill trees which don't allow differentiation or specialising into certain aspects.
* What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
I heard about it and came back to the game to see what was up- I haven't played before tonight since May '05. So that should give you an idea.
* What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
Pleased, once I was able to log in. Tutorial was nice, the voiceovers were a great touch. I hope we see more of that sort of thing in the future.
* What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
Even more pleased. I couldn't believe I was enjoying blowing up Worrts and Rills. No meat drops, though, so I couldn't complete a quest. I really think you should consider adding the Scout/Ranger/CH line back in as a 10th iconic profession.
* What class did you choose to play?
Trader. Always have been, my alts are usually tanks.
* What do you like the most about NGE?
It's much more immersive and feels a lot more like Star Wars. I can't start a fight and take a drink of my beer, I have to actually focus on the combat. I noted elsewhere that on the newb station I missed one droid and hit another, then missed that one and hit a third- aggroing them all. It's a lot easier to make mistakes in combat that can really hork your day, and that's AWESOME. Stray shots? Neat!
* What do you dislike about NGE?
The lack of diversity in the various abilities. Even traders should be able to get some work in with a blaster or get some hand-to-hand skills, notthing obscene or uber, but enough that they could tag along with high-level content and still enjoy it without being a burden on the group.

What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
A bit confused since we just had the CU, and was waiting for the Profession revamps.
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
I like the "Star Wars" feeling that you get from the start.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
I liked the way your chosen profession is used for setting a basis for you reason for being in the game. Also I must admit that I liked the whole Space Station walk through, and hope that this maybe a glimps into the future of space stations already in-game.
What class did you choose to play?
Smuggler
What do you like the most about NGE?
The active nature of combat, since now it's not just click-click, but rather aim-click.
What do you dislike about NGE?
The chat in combat is very difficult to work with, and may need to be changed.
The way specials are used ( I maybe just doing it wrong, but the F-key system was easier to use)
