Since devs announce JTL will have joystick support many players have sought out to find that "perfect" joystick. Many sticks have been suggested all differing in style, price, and comfort. I took the time out to do some research on joysticks and thought i'd keep a compiled list of the favorites in the market today. Some of the sticks below have reviews attached but all direct you to the stick itself for your own look. Over time i'll continue to bump and add to the list and i welcome the community to add thier own stick suggestions as well. I'll look it up, post a link and find a review if there is one out there. I hope this helps the confused out there or those who've yet to evolve beyond the keyboard and mouse cause it is hard to find that one stick you really would like to enjoy and doesnt have things you dont need yet lacks the stuff you want.

My 2 cents on a couple of those sticks.

The Saitek x45 may look kinda cool but it feels very awkward to handle and almost too toy like in it's action.  Also if you can find enough deskspace for it, god bless you.

I personally use the Saitek Cyborg 3D gold, and I can tell you it is a very nice stick.  It can be converted easily to left or right handed, and is very smooth and responsive.  Has a fairly simple throttle bar which gets the job done well.  I have no idea how SOE plans on utilizing programmable joysticks but this stick probably has plenty of buttons for anything the JTLS will throw at us.

I'm a huge fan of CH.  They are the only joysticks I'll use.  Their Flightstick Pro model is very basic, only a trigger, three thumb buttons and a hat switch.  This would be a great stick for lefties (of which I am one) to get as it is designed for ampidexterous (spelling?) use.

I've had my CH stick, throttle and pedals for 4 or 5 years now.  They still work great, but since they are the older gameport type getting them to play nicely with XP has been difficult since XP does not support the button customization they use.  But if you get the USB version you should be good to go.

I have Microsoft's Force Feedback 2 and love it. It's a great flight sim joystick.

I like mine also, I'll most likely use mine for JTL.

I have a Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS, bought it 10 years ago, and it still works - best damn joystick I've ever had. I believe they are still on sale (or the equivalent), as the Cougar.

I'd recommend them too anyone

Can we get this as a sticky?

Nice helpful thread, I won't end up buying a joystick until I know the release of JTL, so I'd like this good informative post to stick around.

I use the Logitech Force 3-D.

its a great stick uses USB and is force feedback, which works ver very well.
I played mechwarrior 4 with it and the force feedback I got just from walking in a mech had me most impressed.

I'm eager to see what JTLS does as far as force feedback goes.

Force feedback in JTLS rocks!! some of the weapons when equiped will give different degrees of "feedback" on the stick I had a weapon called a "mangler" equiped and it was like i was holding a .38 in my hand and shooting with that. I highly recommend this stick.
it may be a bit old but its well worth it.

I, personally, use the old Microsoft Sidewinder Pro.  No force-feedback or real fancy features, but it works!  I've had it for quite a few years and it has yet to fail me.

Hey, great thread! I just have a question. Will JtLS support throttle as well as joysticks? Either way, I'm probabaly going to go with a Logitech joystick.

Thanks for that great post.  I'm trying to decide which joystick to buy.  I hope that the Devs post some info on this soon and (if possible) list recommended ones for the game.
