I've got a logitech strike force 3d, performs well in Alliance, for the most part. I might get a new joystick come launch if I don't like how it plays, but this will do at first.

400???  I bought my X36 for $99 at Compusa about 5 years ago, since then, I got another dirt cheap for space parts

X45 is $75 at Compusa...Thrustmaster and CH are a little more expensive..  CH is the extreme, their stuff is like it was stripped right out of a real airplane, that stuff lasts forever (you don't want the pilot snapping the controlls while in flight).

I got my X45's refurbished straight from SaiTek with a 2 month warranty for 39 bucks! Didn't have a scratch on them

i agree, i just thought i'd post for the curious. I must say the 3D Extreme is a very good stick. I  had sometime to test it out on a few titles and it is superb.

Doupt anyone will read this, on page six (err maybe seven)

CH Products Ive own 2, wore/broke them. I They were the old analog types. I figure CH has improved them by now. During a reverse snap roll, I stomped on my CH rudder petals just to hear a loud crack. Have gone to twisty style sticks after that.

X-45: Bought it when it first came out. Still works great. Just gave it to me bud.

Just bought a Thurstmaster Afterburner II, Ill tell u how it is around Christmas.

The Idea of a good stick/throttle set up is to keep your eyes on the screen at all times. SA is the number one thing you need to have in you rmind all the time.

Afte reading the posts on how few controls are going to be needed. The upper end muli-button sticks will be an over kill.

For you mouse users. I tired to play several flight sims that used a mouse. My hand was killing me with in 30 minutes. When being a gunner in a crew served plane. It was slow enough that I think It worked better than using the stick. other than that, no freakin way.

I found the X45 rather interesting.

I played it at Radioshack.  (It was poorly configured to say the least. :smileyvery-happy

The Throttle is really tight.  I guess Saitek doesn't want someone to bust it on its first shot.

I'm leaning towards the X45 because I can configure the buttons on both the throttle and the joystick to properly fit my needs.

Especially that big orange button on it which is just screaming "USE ME FOR BREAKS!"
