Instead I'll make a public service announcement:
In the unlikely event that you follow this thread but don't follow the patch notes, please don't RE anything with a reactor drain stat until publish 24 comes out in a couple weeks. The bug that wasn't allowing drain to improve on RE will be fixed at that time, and you should be happier with the result of your RE jobs at that time.
Further, you'll stand a better chance of looting that key component that keeps Jotun from making fun of you.
Okay, this one hurts, mostly because I had sent a /tell to the builder asking if the part that I wanted (which will become breathtakingly apparent in the next few seconds) was for sale (since it was priced for storage, not for sale).
When the person said no, I automatically assumed - "Oh, well that's okay. They're saving it for a Borstel RE of their own." At least that delusion I could respect.
I'd have paid easily double that insane charge merely for the 23k part that's been wasted. The fact that a Borstel or Tricannon wasn't involved just adds extra sting.

Bleh. I had told that same shipwright a few days ago about this thread.
Up until I talked to her (she was holding a rare 4.8k mass L5 reactor that I bought off of her to pair with my 15.2k gen that I had been holding onto for a while--the thing is now just under 4.7k mass and 15.7k gen) she was under the impression that weapons had to be the same name in order to be REd. Apparently this is listed in an erroneous knowledge base article somewhere.
I'm guessing she didn't check out this thread and made that mistake in reverse engineering out of cluelessness.
For the love of good parts, someone is going to have to get her to this thread.
If there are any other pilots in DEATH who are, for some reason, not off Jedi-ing and are reading this thread, try to impress your guildmate the importance of furthering her education on the subject of reverse engineering.
Well, the only things I RE are level 2 and below. And I still carefully look at them.
I do have a nice L3 gun that has .850 eff against shields...with a 900 max dam. Tears through even Tier 4 ships pretty quick (I am a 2/2/1/1 pilot again).
As far as the rest of my stuff, I still carefully look at all things. It is nice to know that there are other pilots out there that really fly for the love of flying though.
The other thing that I noticed (from talking to Ms. Wren) is that people spend time hunting in Deep Space or Kessel.
While that is good, almost all of my loot is from doing duty missions. That includes the L10 iterms (of which I have MANY), L9 stuff (of which I have "some") and so on.
I don't buy loot from anyone, however. I like to earn it the hard way. Besides, doing Pilot over and over helps me get good loot across the spectrum....that and I earn prestige sick fast.
You know, there is a reason I haven't been coming to this thread much. Those REs make Gonz sad. I have been looking for complimentary engines for my pre-nerf to RE with(even though she is a bit beat up) and seeing things like that have me wanting to punch someone.
Besides, doing Pilot over and over helps me get good loot across the spectrum....that and I earn prestige sick fast.
