What's an SSD? :P Sounds like something I need to go get a shot for!
Oh you silly Sith... SSD not STD! What a difference a letter can make. And no, condoms will not protect you from SSD crashes.
But incase this is a valid query as to the nature of SSDs
SSD - Solid State Drive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssd#Commercialization
And specifically from the wiki post
SSDs have no moving parts to fail mechanically. Each block of a flash-based SSD can only be erased (and therefore written) a limited number of times before it fails. The controllers manage this limitation so that drives can last for many years under normal use.[80][81][82][83][84] SSDs based on DRAM do not have a limited number of writes. Firmware bugs are currently a common cause for data loss.[citation needed
The controllers, I imigine were have to work really hard to manage the SSD storage because so many of the cells had reached their limit. Hince the rubber banding
Oh noes!!!! What am I going to do??? I was not prepared for this!!! 24 hours!!!! Really?
Time to do some shopping anyways.

I believe the SSD exchanging is done by the hosting company / datacenter where the server is stored at, and not by any of the devs if i read correctly last time i saw TA post about it , might be wrong, but i don't believe its any of the devs that are on site now, first of it would require a certain amount of security access just to get into a datacenter, you don't just walk in from the street , in Denmark our datacenters have fingerprint scanner machines and what not, its multi million dollar hardware thats stored at places like this.

I found the link to the specs you were looking for:

This should provide the geeks some food to chew on for a bit.
Scroll down to Vlada's Post... Not the link in the post, it's outdated.

upgrades! How cool is that!
Thanks to all the people who work so hard to make this happen. I'm so happy just to be able to hangout in game and do stuff.
Maybe they are faster then 24hours ... lets hope
Hope not, honestly. More downtime means more updates later. I'm all for progress.
"That guy just took my spawn and now they are afking. No Jedi? Can anyone else not log in?"
We don't want to hear it...
24 hrs, give me server i switch 10 minute tops! maybe 20!
I would also assume based on my job as a Systems admin, that a full backup of the DB would be done first, to make sure the most recent data is available. Followed by replacing the drives, restore the backup, and rebuild the RAID. With testing done after the rebuild is complete to make sure all is good. Mind you I don't know the exact steps being followed, that's just how I'd do it
