Most of this is only from my observations and none of it has been confirmed by other players. Please feel free to confirm or deny of this by testing it also.

1) So far I have found the disk 6/8 is the hardest to get. Where as I have found doubles, triples and quads of other disks. I have only gotten one 6/8 disk and my analysis tool ate it when I tried to combine. This maybe a "by the server" situation, where each server is different on which disk is hardest to find. Would love someone to help confirm or deny this.

2) Keep your disks in your main inventory. I have tested this and I am less likely to get a duplicate disk if they are in my main inventory. Except where disk 6/8 is concerned.

3) Do not remove any RE'd loot you have done from your inventory until your done with all the inventory of parts. I know it sounds far fetched but I have found I get more disks if I keep the items I already RE'd in my inventory.

4) For me the luck of finding disks seems to come and go in waves. I will have an hour of finding disks then several hours, up to a day or more, of finding nothing. Sometimes I will find 2, 3 and once even 4 disks back to back with each RE I do. Then 3+ hours of nothing. This tells me that finding a disk isnt completely random and more based on increased chances with each piece you RE. Once you reach a certain point, you will find disks and the chance factor will decrease.

5) Kuat Systems Engineering parts are supposed to be the best chance to get a disk. I have found most of my disks on Incom and Mandalmotors parts. I would say 50% at least. This may be different from server to server.

6) Logging does NOT seem to make the chance better. In fact I find it will kill any "good runs" I am having.

7) Sacrificing a live chicken while wearing a bra on your head is supposed to help increase the chance as well but I cant confirm this as I am not allowed live poultry in my apartment. I did try it with a bucket of KFC but only got a disk for a free small order of cole slaw. They dont seem to mind me running around with a bra on my head though. hmmmmm.

Hope this helps everyone.

There has never been anything to indicate this is true.  This is just an assumption made by people because it's the same manufacturer, but there is no greater chance at getting Firespray schematic fragments from RE'ing Kuat parts than any other parts.  Furthermore, the whole thing is random, just like looting from mobs you kill.  There are no viable 'tips' to get fragments faster/better other than doing more RE's than you currently are, if possible.  The more you RE, the better your chances of getting fragments, and that's all there is to it really.  Compare it to going to a casino....you may well get a good hit, then go "3+ hours of nothing" before getting another hit.  Then next time you visit you might get 5 hits in an hour.  That doesn't make it 'not completely random', it's all a matter of chance and luck at any given point of time, and sometimes your luck runs greater and sometimes it's lesser.  Them's the breaks kiddo.

hope you don't mind me adding my experience as well..we received our final disk last night.

Kuat parts did drop quite a few disks..I would say more than the others..but then again..we payed more for these labeled parts to be delivered to our vendors and there were tons of them.  Nonetheless, the others dropped disks as well

total credits spent on loot = just above 25 million credits (we were paying 10k per level of loot first three days, then until two days ago 10k per level of "Kuat" labeled loot).

I am damn happy to say we gave our customers and the community back that amount in credits.

total hours spent on re-eng'ng = aprox @ 18 hours (give or take 2 hours)

we just received the last of the totals (re-eng. attempts) ..a hair over 2000 re-eng attempts produced 15 disks. The last of which was disk  # 6 (how ironic).

The math = 1/140 has a 'chance' at dropping a disk...ouch..but like you said..it came in waves...we went two whole days w/out a single one.

So, all we need is 1 additional # 6 to produce another firespray schematic (as well as another..but im not worried about that one..ehhe).

btw, my IRL lady left me..packed her bags and moved out.  I have only been sleeping 3 hours per night and surviving off of coffee.....ehehehe

/need a long vacation and will finally take one...lol

Does it matter if you mix manufacturers? Or do you only RE Incom with other Incom parts to get disks?

I had the experience of getting things in waves.

First day after launch RE'd about 100 components got 3 fragments.  Thought this was gonne be easy.  All just level 1 and 2 stuff.

Second day, about 70 more components one more fragment.

Past 5 days, about 200 components, much more level 3 and 4 stuff.  Not a single fragment.

Right now I have 1,5,7,8.

Ya know, this is starting to sound a whole lot like slicing.... especially the chicken-sacraficing part.

When I loot items from mobs it is random. I get a salt and pepper amount over the course of several hours. I am a hunter by desire so I know this. I have never gained alot of loot from mobs in a short time frame then had hours of nothing looted. Its always an average over the time.

When its getting something in a short time frame then hours of nothing, it isnt random. More like a number is being kept and as you RE more and more stuff the number raises. Eventually the number "hits" and you get a disk or more then one disk. Sorry kiddo but thems the real breaks.

Here is an example from yesterday

Hour 1 - 4: nothing

Hour 5: 3 disks

Hour 6 - 7: nothing

Log off then back on a few hours laters

Hour 1 - 2: nothing

Hour 3: 5 disks

Hour 4 - 6: nothing

This shows it takes an average of 3 - 4 hours of getting nothing from REing solid then I get something. I am testing this now by keeping track of the amount of time spent and what I get when. So far I have RE'd solid 3 hours. So by next hour or hour after if I get a disk then I know something is up and will continue testing this.

I must say force luck might play a part in it. I dont know but I seem to be finding disks more then people without it. But this is only comparing with members of my guild who dont have force luck. Where they might find 1 or 2 disks, I find 4 to 5.

As for level of the part I cant confirm anything yet. I did get disk 6/8 before off a level 6 RE. So it might but I cant say for sure yet.

I havent completed the set, but i have 11 parts, 3 duplicates of 7/8
I have spent hours at the bazaar RE'ing anything i can find and have almost 0 luck, 100+ RE's from bazar maybe gave me 1 if i was lucky (that fits with the 1% chance)
The hours between RE'ing also matches my pattern, i go for a while and get nothing, then do 30 kuat peices and get 3 disks, hours getting nothing, then getting another 3 disks in a very short space of time..

Hoping to finish the set within a few days buying kuat named loot at 10k a peice hurts the bank balance a bit :s

When you're looting items off mobs you're not dealing with a database table of only 8 possible items you can ever loot either.  Narrow down things to the same 8 items you're looking for and only those items, go on a killing/looting frenzy and see if you get the same 'salt and pepper' results over the course of a few days....I'm pretty sure you won't, and instead you'll see results closer to what you're seeing now with the RE process.  Also, you're assuming just because your luck is running a certain way that that establishes a certain pattern.  To go back to the casino analogy, you're making the same mistake many gamblers make as well, particularly slot players.  Slot machines use RNG's, and many times they too give a hit or three close together followed by "3+ hours of nothing".  But knowledgable slot players will tell you that this isn't a set 'pattern'; sometimes things just fall that way and over the long haul sometimes there are other such seemingly 'mini patterns' in play.  The point here being, 'random' is still in play regardless of what results you see, because 'random' doesn't follow any set guidelines as to when or how often you're going to see positive results.  The definition of 'random' is not 'evenly spread out over time', but rather 'lacking a definite plan, purpose, or pattern'.

Does the RE level of the loot have anything to do with it or is it randome as well.
