can I ask you this straight up then...was 'that' bunker house ever worked on? if so, why would soe put you to work on a NEW bunker house when there already is one started on and or finished and not in the game? seems like a waste of resources to me. If there is another one completed already it makes more since to use it instead of putting out the effort and wasting valuable time to create a whole new one.

Not that I know of. The bunker house as a vet reward was an idea that we had but I dont think we ever got to actually putting an artist on that. I could be wrong, and maybe TH might have a more accurate answer for you

Then I think this is the bunker that was supposed to be a vet reward in a way

The fact that in the thread where TH mentions what would SWG vets like to see as a two year vet reward he tossed out the bunker house idea...

people in that thread LOVED that idea...pages upon pages of people said they would love a bunker house...

we now see the first bunker house as a reward...not a two year vet reward but as a reward for buying an expansion...

this is a slap in the face to SWG two year vets...as are the cheesy current two year vet rewards.

Goliath...don't get me wrong. The bunker house is awesome...but it is a slap in the face to the two year SWG vets...

and please SWG forum admins...don't for one second think I am trolling...I am discussing a MAJOR problem with SWG philosophy...

This will be my last comment on this subject.

Rouge 5 and I were having a discussion about what kinds of things players might like to have for purchasing this expansion, A reward that I thought would be as good as the BARC speeder has been. It was my own idea to suggest this bunker house and how it could also be implimented faster then normal structures. R5 liked the idea and so I created this house. Thats how this bunker got into the game. Had I not suggested it and a way to quickly get it in, you might never have seen a bunker.

I hope that clears things up.

That only goes to show that player ideas are overlooked and YOUR ideas are brought to the game. SOE's standard practice. Players wanted a bunker style house for well over a year now... and when we finally get one, its not becuase we wanted it, not becuase the players thought it would be cool... but becuase a developer said "Hey I have a great idea! I'll make a bunker house!". Is that the only way players get things they want? When the devs happen to want the same things? This dev team has to be the most disconnected, and out of touch dev team in the bussiness right now when it comes to their community.

Further more... you said "I" six times in that statement... playing it up as tho it was your idea to make a bunker. When really anyone who has read the boards at all over the last 5 months knows damn well the community has been screaming for a bunker house. But yet... instead of saying "The community wanted a bunker house, so thats what we did".... you go out and say "I thought a bunker house would be awsome, so I came up with the idea of a bunker house, and I put it in the game.... I love me". When the design is poor, especially sicne it took you 25 days... thats pathetic. As someone who has supported the dev team a lot in the past... the new SOE dev team makes me want to puke. You guys have no idea what the players want, and have horrible ideas for this game... the only thing that will save this game short of SOE being bought out, is bring back the devs of old that actually made the game.

You need to rethink your thoughts.   Computer Animation, Computer programming, Art, Music and who knows what else they have to do for SWG is not easy.     To create something from Scratch into a Work of Art might seem easy to some, but when you try it yourself, you realize its not as easy as first thought.

You Talk about Sony Online Entertainment as a Company who is Unresponsive to their Consumers, But you have Devs reading your posts (*Mostly Off Hours*), making Notes on what you say, and trying to fix a lot of things you request.   It might seem like they are slow to you but I assure you, they are not.

Here is a question to you?  Do you work 40 hours a day?  Do you feel you accomplish a lot during your hours of Work?  Do you do computer Animation or Computer Programming during those 40 hours?  How about Art, you an Artist?  Do you create things everyday or do you work on 1 thing until you are Satisfied with the outcome?

I'm a Computer Animator / Modeler....  I consider myself very good compared to others in the field, but not the best.   To create a Computer 3D Model from a Concept Design might seem cut and dry, but its far from it.   (*I could go into a very long detail of what they would have to worry about, but I dont really want to type it all out. *)   The devs have posted most of this information throughout the last 2 years, just read it.

To Sum things up, Did you ever wonder why Computer Animation Companies take 3 years to make an Animation film?  And please remember, this is an Animation Film, each frame they make might take an hour to several days to Render on there Servers (*24 frames = 1 second*)...  SWG is Real time Rendering on your computer, up to 30 frames a Second, which is great.    Sorry, ranting again.

Just think before you post, or at least, don't post if your going to be Rude to the Company that is making a Game you enjoy playing 90% of the time.

Well said SciNutz, some of you complaining really need to learn respect. Be thankful your getting anything.

Sheesh, many people are without homes right now as we type, and you complain about such a little thing. Getting something done takes time and effort, and there is only so many professionals that can work on a given project at a given time. Keep up the good work Goliath

Give the dev some peace.  Don't shoot the artist; the decisions regarding the game that we hate are not under his control.  I say the artists did a helluva job with the POB interiors.  Keep up the good art.  Save the flames for those who make the decisions.

Okay, if we're going to flame the suits...
Who gets the job of making the html2mp3 converter so they can get our flames as an earfull on the way to work?
Who gets the job of hardwiring an mp3 into each suits car stereo so it can't be turned off or down?
Oh, and who gets the tedious job of creating a new voice to replace the vaguely russian sounding "microsoft sam".  One that sounds appropiately surly and ticked off.

Goliath what programs do you all use?  3d studio Max?

I went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Computer Animation.  Unfortunately, I did not graduate due to not being able to make it to class in time

I took all my 3d classes and feel confident in my skills to say im an excellent 3d artist.

If I were to make a really awesome low poly model for swg would you guys use it?

I really hope you respond to this cause 3d animation is something i feel really passionate about.

SWG-Goliath,

Thank you for taking the time to come into the forums and explain a bit about the process you guys go through and answering questions about items and the process in general, sometimes even more than once.

This is the kind of feedback and information they we really crave for our favorite game.  I know this takes away from some of your free time to do this and I just want you to know I and (I suspect) many others appreciate your efforts.

There is no question that the artists are the best personel SOE has. If they would just hire about 20 more of them at Goliath's level to do a complete character model overhaul, making it easier to create new clothing and ID features, I'd be pretty darn happy.

Every time I log into Guild Wars, I think wow... what if SWG characters could look like this, with the customization... just... wow.

Hats off to the artists though. There is nowhere in the game I have seen anything less than excellence.

How can you even think that Guild Wars has more customization than SWG? Have you even looked at a tailor vendor recently? Or an armorsmith's vendor? Or seen an image designer recently?
Guild Wars has about 5 different armor types per class, and about 6 pre rendered faces/hairstyles/etc.
I'm astonished that you think Guild Wars has more customization than SWG

Guild Wars character detail with the Star Wars level customization level, moron. I know Guild Wars has no customization. I was trying to be nice. Thanks for the lecture.

Umm, right. I personally think SWG has a much higher LOD on their charcters than that of Guild Wars.

You're telling me the SWG "base" character models look better than the guild wars ones. Wow. I'm not even going to bother.

Since your so quick to jump on the other guy when he said a coment to you that he supposedly didnt understand.  I will jump on you.

Yes I think SWG characters have a HIGHER LEVEL OF DETAIL to them.  Better shading, muscle tone, etc.  GW just uses flat textures on the chars to simulate a muscular look, etc., where as SWG you can see the shading on the muscle tone and facial features.  SWG uses the nomal mapping better, where GW is just flat "anime" like texturing that does not have any shading properties.

Now artistic style, thats the eye of the beholder.

Thank you deeply for taking the time out of your schedule to work on something this amazing for us when you certainly didn't have to.

With the amount of time we spend in buildings adding something new to the mix is incredibly refreshing.

Your work is valued and although you couldn't possibly please everyone, you've certainly pleased this SWG player.

On the chance Goliath is still reading this, I want to thank him for writing up that Friday Feature. It's a treat to hear the thoughts and ideas that went into a game feature. SWG is a creative exercise for a lot of us who play it, and we're reminded that the game designers are right in there with us.

If they had infinite time to write such articles I'd eagerly read how they came up with everything that isn't straight from the movies. Even the pink kittens holo-emote.

Love the new house model Goliath, though i got some questions,

Will this house be restricted to placement on some world or be treated as a generic?

If the idea ever came to SOE to make a complete set of City structure in this bunker model, how long would it in estimate take to make it all?(I would love to see new kind of city scapes tbh),

would there be possibilities to build cities or House structures on Mustafaar or is the planet locked as Dathomir / Kashyyyk / Yavin 4 & Endor?

There thats all im going to bother asking about, great job once again Goliath, im looking forward to the reply.

First of all - thank you very much for sharing this information with us...

I have a question though: Is it planned to offer different "skins" for this building so it would blend in more into the respective planet houses? The way it looks right now I can see it on Corellia and Talus, but I fear I won't set it up in our Naboo town, because it would just "stick out" too much...
