WEll first off I want to give you guys a big w00t. It sucks when your day at work goes from bad to worse and you have people hounding you

Just got a couple questions for ya.

1) Is this oracle problem what is causeing me to get a connection lost to SWG every 15 minutes or so? If so I assume that when you correct the problem that problem will go away for all of us?

and 2) on a related note when will you disable the full scan dealy-do? Prolly wont be as big of a deal when I can get on and stay on but geez when you have to go through it everry 15 minutes The system looks eacly like planetsides system and it goes pretty quick unless you have a patch. Just curious why it takes so long to scan when compaired to a similar system.

To tell the truth Holo from the sheer numbers of people that we all knew would be hammering the servers today logon/subscription and game servers things have gone surprisingly well. I have weathered a few major mmorpg releases and this ones not that bad. You worked hard have a beer on me.

Heh, BoShek is wrangling programmers, and getting things like "today doesn't count against your subscription" to happen.

Heh, I've decided today doesn't count... period
Call the government, let the rest of the world know... Thursday will arrive once again tomorrow and all shall go as planned.

Hey, I know how it is when something you've worked on for so long goes live... it's such an immense experience, from great to tradgic (all relative within the moment, of course).

So, despite being around for the whole day doing what so many other hopefuls were doing as well, it suddenly hit me how you guys must have been feeling.
One of the things that kept my interest in this game (Right after the Star Wars license) was the way you guys have handled everything with us.
I know that whatever problems popped up today were not from a lack of effort or foresight form you guys.
It's the posts like the one you've done here and countless times over the past years, that I am grateful for... I just can't wait to be grateful for the game you guys have made - I still haven't gotten a taste!
When the opening movie started up... all frustration from today went right out of my head, just like it was this morning again
I'm sure once this **bleep** Oracle prob is fixed, my disapointment will disappear once again... and hopefully I'll enjoy this game you've made

Too late for that one Holo.  Starsider came up, I jumped in, so did others, I bought a Jawa Ion Rifle off of someone, and like 10 seconds later, i lost meh connection. I doubt I have that rifle...So much better than my CDEF...Keep up the good work tho, I think personally we should all get goggles for fighting through this today!

Looks like they are:

Reinforcing community tone

•You have great power
–Whoever you answer gets reinforced; your attention is status
–Whoever you ignore gets marginalized

•Try to seem human
–Corporate/marketdroid speak turns people off
–Use personal touches and humor

•Admit mistakes
–You have to seem human first, of course
–Buys you goodwill when you really screw up
–Be HONEST

Ok Holo, i know you won't give an appx time till servers are up......but.....based on the info you're gettin from Oracle, which of these would we be more likely to complete before we see them up.

a) make a snack and eat it

b) watch a movie

c) get to bed early to wake up early to play

d) read war and peace

Sure It took me 7 hours to get in, but it's opening day, It is to be expected.
It's amazing how low peoples standards have become when it comes to MMORPGs these days. You all that are saying it has gone relatively well... please turn yourselves in to your local authorities, drugs are bad.

Just watched every server preformance indicator go down one by one. I wasn't sure weither to laugh or cry. Starstrider is loading, but the indicator is really low. But offcially, all servers are down. or unconnectibe.

It's possible the Oracle thing is causing the disconnects, if it's actually the server going down. But i don't think they were going down like that frequently...

I don't know if you were in the beta, but there is a known issue with LinkSys routers that can cause that sort of behavior as well. You'd need to update your firmware to the latest version, if that were the problem. I am not positive, but there may be info on that somewhere on the website, a known issues section?

The full scan is actually crosschecking everything in your files, it's not doing the same thing as Planetside. Late in the beta, we had an issue where some people had corrupted files on their installs. We cleaned up that problem by doing this. We figured we'd launch the game with the same technique, just to be safe. But I see that it is very aggravating, obviously, and I have asked if we can turn it off. It's easy to do on our end, but it WOULD be another ball to juggle, so we may not do it anytime too soon. I'll see if once things settle down serverside if we can take it off for ya.

An update on Oracle: basically, there's some bad data somewhere in the DB. We have located it for the West Coast servers, and are correcting it. The problem is that the bad data is causing the central DB to die, which then affects all the servers. We are unsure how long it'll take to get these up and running again.

The East Coast servers do not seem to have the same bad data. We're still working on narrowing down why this is happening, and are still on the phone with Oracle.
