I was in the beta too, albeit not as long as some, but I have certain expectations that are a tad higher than some people on this forum.
When I pay 50-80 dollars for a game, with an added monthly fee of 15 a month, I darn well expect to get my money's worth. Add this expectation to longing for this game since it was first teased to us (was that 2 years ago or 3?) and now you have one frustrated, irritated, disappointed customer.
I am not in the IT business, and like many people in the public, I don't know much about servers and forums and things. The great thing about all this is I don't have to. I don't even have to care about this since Sony pays you all to handle these things. I can understand jinxed days. I can even understand that one elusive bug that escaped us beta testers. I can't understand the magnitude of the flub-ups today. I can however speculate that it was poor planning. I'm not sure I want to endorse or use a product that stinks. Today it stinks. A week ago in beta it was potentially the best game of it's type out there.
Because of todays debacle, I am seriously considering taking back this worthless package of plastic and paper that I have paid for and returning to my old MMORPG. At least I know this to be a stable and entertaining (and cheaper) solid company. After all, it's not as if Sony never produced on online game before. I expect much more from the company that maintains so many good quality MMORPGs.
A bit of trivia--today the Lithium forums served FIVE TIMES more pages than all of SOE's old forums COMBINED including the old SWG forums... so all thigns considered, they're doing amazingly well.

I am being told that today will NOT COUNT against your subscription time.
Holo,
That is awesome news! Personally I think this lauch went fairly well given the sheer numbers you guys must be dealing with. I mean I was actually able to create my accounts, log on, and play... this is far superior to some other MMORPGs lauches that I won't name.
Keep up the great work and I think I speak for most of us in saying it's great to have some DEVs actually respond and keep us informed. Kudos! (Unless you're just responding to get your post count up?? )
Hey Holo I have a ?........Whats Boshek doing right now? Cause he should be in here playing clean up just like you and Q. Why are you guys always stuck doing the dirty work while the bossman is no where to be found? BTW Love the game hope you guys get the issues resolved soon.
This seems to be the way development goes, eh? It all works until someone is looking, then it all goes to hell. Anyway, I've been there, and this will pass, and I think this is the beginning of what will be a really good place to spend my time.
ehvin, far as I know the devs are staying here until this works. I'll let you know if there are any changes to that.
We ARE going to minimize the variables right now by leaving the crashing servers down. There's no point in teasing you with servers that look like they might be OK, only to have them crash on you again.

Holo. I actually think you guys are doing a good job despite all the cards stacked against you today.
Q has kept us informed about the subscription ordeal and has kept us updated. Sure It took me 7 hours to get in, but it's opening day, It is to be expected.
I guess if you love the game you stick with it and be patient, ride the little bumps here and there, it all pays off soon. Of corse there are bugs still, unfinished things in the game. But seriously, we all love star wars why don't we all just get the ball rolling and have some fun and keep working at it.
Right not, I am logged in, and looking at every server loading but Ahazi, Bria, Fluffy and Corbantis, which are down altogther. There is nothing you can do even if logged in, so don't try so we don't overload the server.
