If this was the case, then at least some of the 100+ people that have unlocked a FSCS would be unlocking it on their final holo. Someone somewhere would of accidntally tripped their hidden profession before finishing their holo professions and then unlocked their FSCS on their holo profession. However, this has NEVER happened. You with me? NEVER.
Not sure if it necessarily corresponds to your arguments above, but I unlocked the FSCS on my final holocron profession...Different circumstances, though...I had master merchant as my first and while waiting for it to grind away, I got very close to master brawler. Right before mastering my 3rd Holo prof, Tailor, I decided to spend the apprentice pts on Brawler first....at the time no one had really figured how many professions needed to be mastered and i didn't want to waste the next holo if it just happened to say brawler...so i trained it, then worked back the apprentice pts and trained master tailor...I missed the message for the unlocking and tried to use the next holo to no avail...it just paused a little...no message of seeking my own path...just a little pause...well, i scrolled up chat window to see that I'd just missed the message...
So mine did open on the last holo. (FWIW, i did 10 professions total)
Don't know if that adds anythign to the theory or not...but thought I should add it while my server loads this morning...
