What a great thread. A guy has a SS of something and says its true, believe as you wish.
A bunch of people call BS on him he is lying he is not god its hearsay.
Another bunch of people either cannot read or are just flat dumb and think that those 6 professions apply to everyone and they mastered all 6 so that disproves the formula.
Another bunch of people somehow thinks this formula should tell them what they personally need to master.
This is the best thread I have seen it has it all! It really shows the disparity of people who post on these boards.
I believe it. I was a steadfast believer in 4+1 and in one thread I backed off it a bit and said at most it is 5/6 (4 +1/2 whatever you want to call it). I never believed that the silent profession would always be silent, but that holocrons went silent when you were 1 profession away from unlocking. The problem with 5/10 was that the average person would unlock on like their 8th profession and to get in the 20+ club was impossible, and even 5/7 just sounded to easy.
I do not have time now at work I want to be able to leave on time and get through most of Musician, but I am going to run some numbers to determine when a player is likely to unlock their slot if they started from scratch and did 4 holo-professions.
Under 4+1 the result was a straight line each remaining profession had a 1/28 chance from that moment on to unlock, so the average person would unlock on profession 18 from that point. It sounded a bit high but with a good handful in the 20+ club it sounded right.
Under 4+1/2, I believe it will be more of a bell curve, but a fairly flat bell curve. The thing I really want to know is starting at profession 4 being mastered at what point will that player have an accumulated 50% or greater chance of unlocking. My guess is around profession 12. KEEP IN MIND that that is my GUESS as to the AVERAGE chance of a person who has mastered EXACTLY 4 professions, all holocron professions, and then has their 5th holo obviously go silent. If YOU master 20 professions at random you might still get a holocron message! I am just thinking hypothetically not applying to any actual case.
