But if it's OLD space loot, you might want to take a closer look - most "professional" pilots concur that loot's been stealth nerfed about four times since the introduction of JTL. The BEST stuff is Nov/Dec-timeframe loot, back before there were enough Master Shipwrights and great resources for them to truly hate the quality of REed parts.
The most recent nerfs weren't "nerfs" per se as they were "adjustments." You can still get uber loot, but the nerf comes in the form that the RANGE is now so broad that you'll usually get crap.

Really nice thread, Kayl. Cut the swearing and we could practically turn it into a guide.
Only place I'd disagree is on level 7 shields. Shipwrights can craft around 14.2K mass ones with around 1780 HP, or the more standard 16.7K mass, 1940 HP ones (numbers may vary by server). The drain on those is killer, but unless you get a couple nice Nym's, it's really hard to RE a better level 7 from loot, in either mass or HP.
Hope it's saved some uber stuff from falling into the hands of the chassis dealers, though. This is one of the most comprehensive collections of space loot knowledge out there.

QFE.
Though as a side note, I did once end up trying to negotiate a price on a Borstel on a storage vendor. He wasn't really willing to negotiate a price, though he said that he had unlisted the vendor, though items on it were still showing on the vendor search.
(Off Topic Aside I eventually had to take a weekend and remaster pilot... And of course I just *have* to find a level 8 gun with even *lower* mass just after I get done putting together my last one. A 21.7k mass borstel sounds like a worthy waste of another ten million prestige and a weekend, though... I think.

Don't try'n change me! You ain't my daddy!
Besides, I'd rather be unofficial than official. You have to play explicitly by the rules...I don't.
I'd be out on my ass without even a Blue Glowie tag within the first week if I had to "diplomatically" deal with people wanting FS XP conversions or an even easier grind. That or I'd be in a rubber room babbling to myself about idiots.
I tried once before I got bitter and it didn't take - seeing as my relationships with other correspondents lends me to believe the Devs don't listen NEARLY as much as they should, and you guys have to worry about discipline if you try to push a point TOO MUCH. I don't want that - I know too much about small arms and explosives to grow to resent a corporate body THAT much.
I THOUGHT I did once, but I'd rather just be a knowledgeable pilot now than a Corr.

Heh, pretty much entirely correct, though I'd mostly say it's the manner in which things are pushed rather than the pushing itself that can lead to trouble. That can make you guys with more vocal liberties a pretty important part of the community.

To anyone looking to set up a space loot vendor, this might be a good thread to advertise - nearing 2500 hits now - and a bunch of pilots who think they can take me are threatening to come to Eclipse to teach me a lesson, so they'll need decent loot!

L6 pieces can be 5k or lower as well. I didn't say odd-numbered armor was worthless, just that it took a lot longer to find worthwhile pieces to RE it with.

Truly, I am in space so much that, once I look over my loot and find nothing useful for me or my guildees I sell it. I once got an offer for 2k per level on pieces from a SW who wanted to RE stuff for the Firespray, but I put the crap on the vendor and he never purchased them. I think in the time it took to sell all the junk I could have easily doubled the overall level of all the loot and sold it to the chassis dealer for a good half a million or so. Unless SW are going to but ALL of my stuff and at a good price, I don't see the point of saving items besides rewards for quests.

thats very true mate - so if anyone loots a 5-6k mass/1500+hp level 7 dont throw it away!

I sell a lot of loot as well, but I go one step further - I take loot that is decent but of no use to me, and put it on the bazaar for one credit less than I'd get from the chassis dealer. That way there's still DECENT loot in the system.
I don't know HOW many L7-L10 weapons I've put into the system this way that *I* would never use, but others may be completely content with.
I recently went through all my L6 and L10 engines and L10 Shields and "trimmed the fat" as it were, getting rid of stuff I wouldn't use, but some SW or pilot might've wanted to fill in gaps or even RE for KSE discs.
...of course, ANY loot collector has to do this on a regular occasion or they'll run out of places to put it all.

An alternative to using the bazaar to get rid of the loot that isn't quite up to one's own mature (perhaps 'loot snobbish' would be a better term) tastes would be to have a guildmate set up a guild-public house where you can drop off the high end filler/not quite up to specs pieces...
I've been doing that for my guild for a while, though, and our space exchange is... somewhat overloaded with low to moderate quality level 6, 7, and 8 guns. I've got to start pushing them on our newbies.
