2.) When using factories, do NOT use your Advanced Subcomponents. The Factory won't see the difference between the Advanced and Regular, so you're just wasting them. Use your Adv. for hand crafting.
[/Quote]

Actually, they do recognize them... You simply need to make a schematic using your advanced subcomponents first.  The factory will make exactly what the schemtic is, no matter what, as long as it has the same exact ingredients.  So...  if making a Health Woundpack B for example you would need to make schematics of all 3 advanced subcomponents and produce factory crates of them to use when creating a schematic of the Health Woundpack B.  Then you need to place your advanced subcomponents from a crate into the factories ingredient hopper along with the high quality organic and inorganic.

I've made Health Woundpack B's that heal for 140 and have 26 charges with this method

They are available for purchase at:

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

Didnt read every page of the tips but was wondering if anyone mentioned the tab key.

The TAB key will cycle through targets in front of you.  Much easier than always selecting the enemy with your mouse if you happen to have about 3 of them on you.

Good thread!

Did you know?

the scout Huniting line adds more information to the examine window including resistances and weather the creature targeted is likely to kill you or not. Remember this is only if its likely to kill you if you just killed all its familly and its babies and are currently destroying its home the creature may just forget about this just this one time. Also the personabove me mentioned that the Tab key cycles targets but did you also know the( ` )key (the one above tab) brings up the menu. this is great with those one hit kills (Tab,`,1,Tab,`,1,ect...).

Having trouble with framerates in cities  ? (low-end computer or not)

Go ahead and check few 'Set-Up Options' on the launchpad right after loggin in. (not 100 % sure on the exact wording of the options, @work right now)

- use low level textures

- use low detail characters

- ingame graphic options to minium from the first two tabs (CTRL + O)

-(also check off the 3 flora settings in.. terrain or graphics tab.. i forget)

I use these when ever i know i'll be running deliveries in cities / crafting. Sure, graphics may not be as fancy as normal but i prefer the better framerates ... and way, way less of those 1 frame / 5 sec pauses when entering populated or complex geometry areas. Oh and another plus, shuttle rides take 1/6 of the time it used to... those textures load real fast

When 'outdoors' restore options to more 'eye-pleasing level'.

Did you know?

You can use /r to reply to someone.  You should it appeared on this thread earlier.  But did you know, that if you start your reply with the word 'he' it will fail.  It took me forever to track this down.  I thought it was all sorts of other problems.  But it was simply anything that starts....

/r he

fails to work.  I can't remember if it also fails with /g or not.  I know I've had random /g problems too.

Before logging off, take two "destroy" missions close together.  If a hunting group happens to come along, they destroy the nests and you get the money.  They get XP and you get your, er... well-earned cash. Everybody wins.

I just discovered this handy little thing today.

/tell player1,player2,player3 <MSG>

will send a message to each of the players you've listed.  Just replace the player names with the names of the people you want to /tell.

very often it's hard to select targets by clicking them, so you often end up clicking repeatedly until you actually get it. To make this much easier, open options and go under controls, uncheck the "clicking nothing untargets" option. now you can use the "shotgun" clicking approach to target objects, and if you target it but then miss on the next click you still will have it targeted.

Two tips that I can think of that help me a lot:

First, you can add different chat channels to be visible in your spatial channel by clicking on the Spatial tab and choosing modify, then moving your private channels from the left column to the right one in the dialogue window that pops up.

Then, to talk in a chat channel without leaving your spatial tab, type /<name of channel> then your text. For example, if I was a member of the SB channel, I could type /sb hello and everone in the SB channel would see it.

Second tip: Forage! When you are not doing anything else, just do it. Foraging is like a box of chocolates- you never know what you are gonna get.

Did you know...

...That you can email yourself? I find this handy for when I need to make a note of something, but don't have paper and pencil around. Just type your own character name in the 'To' field, and continue as normal.

...That if you purchase a droid with a crafting module you can experiment as though you are near a private crafting station whenever you have your droid out? Useful for if you want to craft in the field while sitting in a camp.

Did you know?

If you are crafting and you try to build something while your inventory is full, then you'll get an error and the prototype item will not be created and will get "stuck" in the crafting tool.  If you try to run the tool again, it will not work and will say it has an item in the hooper (or something).   If you go to the tool and select the "start crafting" option and hold it for a second or two, then it will pop up with another option to retrieve the completed item from the hopper.  Of course you need to clear some inventory space first.
