My little contribution to the tips in this thread:

Remap your right mouse button to the "Cycle Target Out" function (TAB is the original key binding, you can have both).  That way you can run using the arrow keys (or other keys if you use the FPS setup), you can auto-run with the NumLock key, and you can rotate visible targets instantly by tapping the right mouse button.

I have my 4 button mouse setup like this:

- Left Button: Select Target

- Right Button: Cycle Target Out

- Middle Button (scroll): Auto-Run Toggle

- Thumb Button: Mouse Mode Toggle

My left hand does all the movement for my character, and occasionally a hotkey.  My right hand works the mouse, which includes the entire UI interface, and enemy targeting.  And if I need to use both hands for something else while still moving, I simply hit the Middle mouse button to auto-run.

I'm 1 skill away from Master Doctor on Ahazi/Tattoine, so I thought I'd give some Med tips.

1.) Get resources with good stats. I can't emphasize this enough. Most important are a.)Overall Quality, b.)Malleability, c.)whatever secondary stat your specific item uses. Inert Pertrochems are good for PE and MA, while Fruits and Flowers are great for PE and OQ. Also as a bonus, if you build up a huge stock of seeds then you'll be ready to make Action and Health Woundpack C's when you get to the required crafting level.

2.) When using factories, do NOT use your Advanced Subcomponents. The Factory won't see the difference between the Advanced and Regular, so you're just wasting them. Use your Adv. for hand crafting.

3.) Always ask a person how many secondary wounds they have in each stat. Until we get /diagnose, there's a risk having a person say "I need Str. healed" and then wasting a kit with a 100+ capability to heal 1-5 wounds. I hate that.

4.) This is a big one. It also applies to all non-doctors, those who just use medicines in their adventure. Make a macro for "/healdamage (yourname)" Where (yourname) is, obviously, your name. This will automatically heal you with the most powerful stim in your main pack. Keep one stim in your main pack at all times for this to work. This way you don't have to target yourself or lose target on your enemy to heal yourself. This has saved me many, many times.

5.) Don't beg for tips when you're healing. I'm a Doctor, and if I'm getting healed I walk away if people beg for tips. If they don't beg, I usually tip very well.

6.) If at all possible, let other people heal your wounds. They get xp, you don't.

7.) Doctors, always leave the last 20-50 wounds on a person's stat black if there are any medics in the building. 50 wounds are 4-5 heals for a medic, and they're a waste of your wound pack. Is that small amount of xp really worth screwing over those starting off medics? I got past Medic before I saw another Doctor, but now we're everywhere. Be kind to the newbs.

That's all, just some general and Doc tips. Good hunting!

I don't know if this has been posted here or not, but I'll post it here just in case (don't have time to read all the posts, got to get to work, and I just found out about this).

You can find vendors by pressing ctrl+v to bring up your planetary map, and then selecting vendors. Right now, from what I understand, it's kind of buggy with vendors needing to "re-register" after a server goes down. So if you're looking for in-game vendors who sell what you're looking for, that's how you do it.

Then the problem I have (and this is my question). How the heck do you find a Master Weaponsmith good enough to build the higher level weapons. I've tried the searches under CTRL-P but it only finds people that are near you and they are all Novice. I tried looking for vendors but all you get is the stupid junk dealers. I looked on the planetary map to find vendor shops but they don't showup their.

Player vendor shops won't necessarily all show up. I think the player needs a certain level of Merchant (though I could be wrong). However, if you can't find weapon shops listed on one planet, check another. Tatooine is a good bet; many people settle there first, so their shops will be more developed and are more likely to be listed.

If you're still having trouble, though, check your own server's forum. Weaponsmiths are looking for you, too, so they often post ads. Or, you can post messages asking weaponsmiths to identify themselves or list the locations of their shops.

Finally, try asking advanced people where they got their guns. Someone had to have made it for them

You can sticky this or any thread for your own future enjoyment by clicking on the little arrow at the far right of the message listing window.

I have a personal sticky on my server forum, and several for gameguides.

You are correct. You will need a lvl 3 Advertising in order to post your vendor on the map.  This does, however, cost credits.   You are also correct in checking your server's forums.  Merchants are always looking for customers to invite to and way to promote their shop.  You may also check the profession forums.  For instance, check out the tailor forums for a master tailor whose chop is in their sig

The has probably been mentioned before, but I didn't know unti last week, so...

Warning shot and Threaten shot! If you are a marksman, you owe it to yourself to use these. Both shots *remove aggro* from a creature you've pushed into attacking. If you're doing a mission, and the creature you're shooting has spotted you, warning shot and threaten shot will make it stop chomping you and wander around for a few moments. I usually get 2 body shots between threaten shots, and the result is that I only rarely take damage.

If you are a higher level medic, crafter, or doc, it's a good idea to invest in a droid with a personal crafting station. That way you can get him out anywhere, and craft those higher meds and products.

This is not a game tip, it's a forum tip.

Did you know?

You can create your own 'sticky' thread by selecting 'Float Thread' from the 'Thread Options' menu. Whenever you log in, the post will be at the top with the stickies.

This one would still be a helpful sticky, so newbies can find it, but in the meantime, this can keep it handy to those of us who've already discovered it.
