There were always player held events of the sort. Beach parties, PA Roof top balls, city opening celebrations, etc.
Did you forget that Swg is all about getting involved? Not simply becoming self-sufficient and repeatedly pushing the I-Win button.

On the other hand, I think it's a great idea Kem ^^ you can count me in if i'm on at the time, I'll bring my musician to sprucen up the atmosphere ^^
