Does this mean we will be seeing clothing with mods on them drop?

yes.

So we'll be able to tame pets and they will grow but it will be impossible to get CH skills because we can't get XP due to pets being unable to attack, right?

Or am i missing something?

You get xp from taming and from training your pets commands.
