How does that prevent hunting in that city? Just means you can't use their shuttle to hop in and kill them, you actually have to hunt them down. Shucky darn.

No, when the hunter is banned, they can't go in to hunt at all.

Um...that's not how it works. /cityban only prevents them from using the city facilities....you know like the shuttle, cloning facities, toilets, etc. Bounty Hunters can still ride in and hunt the Jedi and ride/clone out.
Thunderheart, after reading another posters idea of NPC level 80 patrolling the city I actually came out with a simple implementation for your dev team. I assume the logistics would be NPC constantly doing database queries on every person within 65m of them to see if they are on any kind of list correct? What if you used the already existing NPC faction system in place? Elite level 80 NPC patrol the player cities. When a player gets /citywarn he takes a faction loss against that city (lets say -200 per infraction with a 5min timer to avoid spamming /citywarn). This gives them -200 faction for that city and 5min to leave or they lose another -200 and so on. As their number plummets into the negative they run a higher and higher chance of getting attacked by the NPC guards. After they reach -2000 being attacked on sight is a fair certainty. As a balance one could implement a /citypraise to increase faction standing as well to give the opportunity for redemtion available should someone have a change of heart and want to amend their behavior.

This is a great example of a way to "grief the system".
Speaking of Jedi, when will balance be brought to the force. You devs are ffeding the jedi way too much rope.
Jedi can: Place houses anywhere they hunt. (With the exception of certain planets) Jump on friend vehicles for a quick getaway And the db timer seems to benefit the jedi in particular.
Also, thank you for the double xp weekend. Now all of the 70k-120k padawans are 220k-229k knights. Thanks, the bounty hunter community appreciates it. /end sarcasm

How is that greifing the system. I take it that jedi is a member of that city. Woulnt we want to protect our jedi. Next hing ya know once a bh takes a mission on a jedi. Even if the jedi is in a house the bh or sould I say up to 5 BH will have entry into that house even if it is private. I mean we dont want to take away the content for the population now do we..

I won't comment on the rest since this is city housing forum. But some of your facts are wrong.
I haven't needed to try it in awhile, but does /cityban still work? I liked the idea of cutting off people from my city services (such as cloning, vehicle repair, or shuttle useage).
Also, would be nice if the city treasury got money from the usage of terminals and npc profession trainers.

Why do you fell like killing Jedi is your content. And that the jedi should have no rights. If you cant get them before they get away. That is your own fault. Killing a jedi that is worth 70k is like killing novice brawlers when you are a master. They would never be able to fight toe to toe. So when they run and get away you whine,/sarcasm on.

The TEF system doesn't matter if the jedi runs into the house before he/she can be attacked.
And about the banning thing, I understood it wrong. The way I heard it was that the person was kicked out of the city. period. My bad...
And to the poster above me, a 70k jedi is still a jedi. If I can kill it, I will.
(No longer continuing this conversation in the thread. What I wanted to know about banning, I now know.)

Yes, the current jedi bounty system is a PERFECT example of institutionalized, licensed griefing that does nothing but generate an inordinate amount of hate in this game.
TH- how about just making them not able to travel in or enter into the city period once they have been banned.
Thats actually how it used to work and what happened is players would build their city next to some piece of content in the game (like the Krayt Graveyard or one of the static Imperial Bases) and prevent every player they could from even getting there.
BACK IN THE OLD DAYS WE USED MOUNTS AND OUR FEET WHAT STOPS PEOPLE FROM DOING THAT? BECAUSE I PUT A CITY NEAR A POI DOESNT MEAN IM LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO COME TO MY CITY AS THEY WANT...ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE AN OPPOSING FACTION...YOUR ARGUMENT IS RIDICULOUS
Or.. since players can "grief" each other too easilly how about npc's that patroll the city and can attack players that have been banned. They would have to be lvl 80's atleast though. Maybe make the npc patrolls cost money from the city treasury but atleast it something.
That is definitely a fun idea, but more difficult to implement than might appear on the surface.
SEE ABOVE RESPONSE THIS IS MOOT
Honestly I dont see how keeping unwanted players out of PLAYER MADE cities can be considered keeping them from content.
It depends on where the city is....
SEE ABOVE, NO IT DOESNT. DIDNT YOU MAKE SWOOPS AND MOUNTS FOR PEOPLE TO GET SOMEWHERE QUICKER?
watchfulone wrote:
What about implementing /citywarn but only if your city hall is in an appropriate zone. In other words, any city halls within 1k of significant content would not be able to enable /citywarn as a feature.
Players would just build bigger cities and work to encircle the area. Aside from that, that is also quite a bit of work on the back end.
wildcard1973 wrote: The issue was never about having ample time to leave the city limits...it was always about certain player cities being located near and among POI and static content, and allowing members of that city to effectively prevent access of the playerbase to that content.
Yes - that's correct.
Personally, I like the idea of a militia. It is a double edged sword though. For instance, players that want to be "the criminal element", this is exactly what they are interested in. Then what would most likely happen is they would go around trying to get banned. While in itself, that isn't a bad idea, it does create a situation where some players are rewarded for bad in-game behavior.

Kurt, with all due respect you have no idea what you are talking about!
I'm they mayor of Mos Krayt. It's my job to protect its citizens. If a Bounty Hunter comes into my town and kills a citizen they are banned! It's against the rules of Mos Krayt to attack any citizen within town limits.
If this is not what you intended then what is /cityban for then?
