Whoa. Sorry about the multiple posts. I assure you, it wasn't intentional. Dont' know what happened. I had some problems using my alternate account name when logging in. changed to my primary and I guess it logged both posts.
That's a new feature from one of the last patches, I don't know if it was in the patch notes.
That's probably why you missed it. Gave me some headaches to realize that I can't see my text while afk though, that's why I slipped that in. Strange feature, guess they didn't bother in changing that, or missed it. Or just don't want people to go afk

As a newbie, I can honestly say that I would never debase myself by begging for money. So here's my newbie tip on how to make some honest money:
I recently found that the best way for me to make money was as a medic (I originally started as a scout/marksman). I hang around the medical center in Bestine, wait for patients to arrive, and heal their wounds. I don't know how it is on other servers, but on Kettemoor at least 3 out of 5 patients will tip for my services, usually around 1k per session, but I've recieved as high as 5k. I can usually earn 20k in only a couple of hours. I have to use vasarian brandy to keep my mind up, which one patient was kind enough to introduce me to. But since I normally play on off-peak hours, the med center is usually not that busy. So lately I've been running across town to the cantina looking for patients. When I find someone with a lot of wounds, I offer to heal them back at the med center. It usually doesn't take me long to find a patient who will take me up on the offer. At first I would just /yell from the med center to attract patients, but this seemed rather crude to me, and my new method has been much more effective. Besides making good money, I have also found that I can learn a lot by chatting with my patients. And once people discover that there is a reliable medic on staff in the med center, they tend to check in more frequently for healing, leading to repeat patients.
From what I understand, the real money in the medical profession is when you start making and selling buffs. But I'm not greedy, so I'll just have to see if that appeals to me when the time comes.
I would say either you are lucky or people on your server go back to the roots. I have played a medic the last couple weeks, and at most 1 out of 5 tips me. But it's a lot of fun when there are lots of people around who all are not afk.
Some don't say anything, some say thanks, some tip whatever they can afford (between 50-8000 creds is what I got.) Someone wanted to tip but didnt have money, he offered me a free pet after I healed him.
Yes you can make some money with that, but most want to earn cash a lot faster than that, so I suggest either doing destroy or survey missions.
Harvesting your mission targets and selling the meat/hide on the bazaar helps, too.
Oh there is one thing I remember doing, don't know if this is effective though. If you just started as an artisan, you can do crafting mission for xp and money; if you only want xp, get missions close to the terminal, so you dont have to walk to the first npc. Then talk to him and craft. Abort the mission. You won't get money, but at least some quick crafting xp without the need of ressources.

Thanks a lot for those words of advice. I've been playing for about a week, plus on week of the trial. These tips, and those that were added are really helpful. I currently play a medic, hoping to eventually become a doctor, and also a pistoleer (apparently not the best combo) and when I started, and was healing wounds of people in the med center at Mos Eisley I would get some great tips, probably 2 out of 3 ranging from 500 to 10k. A lot of people were really helpful, probably recognizing a newbie, and tipping high. Now after 2 weeks of development, i get tipped maybe one out of five heals. Some people leave without a word... Tips really don't matter to me (as I get more of my creds through combat) as much as word of thanks. I just find it kind of annoying for people to not give any kind of gratitude...
I was just flicking through the forums when i came accross your post.......
Oh for the good old days, people were polite and you could make killing a mynock last all afternoon........
I originally went for bounty hunter, man that was hard, no vehicles, no player shuttles, having to walk or ride my pet for kilometres accross Lok to get to my mark.
The thing i miss the most is the respect and politeness people had for each other, grinding survival xp outside coronet, people would ASK if they could use your camp to pull a pet out. People would stop by just to chat, i remeber an ID sittin in my camps for a few hours levelling up whilst we chatted about the world and its contents.
I have spent many days in the past teaching new players about the game, taking them on hunts, teaching them how the skills worked etc etc.
I n the past couple of months i have stopped helping new players, simply because they are RUDE, spamming you with tells, demanding stuff etc. When 99% of the time a little courtesy would get them all the help they could ever need and possibly a new friend into the bargain.
So my advice to New players is:
Be polite and courteous and people will help, but please bear in mind that some people may be caught up in something and just not have the time....
