I dont think it is bugged.  I am still in the padawan tree, and I have died 5 times.  I have got to 2 tracked deaths, and then whn I got my 3rd tracked deaths I would take a break and play alternative character.  The go back with 2 tracked deaths thinking this way i can avoid the skill loss, but after My 3rd , 3 tracked deaths i lost a skill.  That makes a total of 5 deaths, 3 after 2 tracked.  I think it is not bugged, I just think we are not educated on the subject.  So I am going to do the same thing but on my 1st going to my second, if I loss a skill then I will shout BUG.  Til then " So far Good" .

May the force be with you, cause it is with me

well, if it isn't bugged then, last night I had 3 deaths, this afternoon I had 3 deaths and at 3am, I logged in..I have 0 tracked deaths.    I hope this means it is fixed and reset.  I am very happy if it is fixed.  Anyone have any more thoughts on this?

oh, no, I didn't get my skill box back I lost.  I still haven't heard from a CSR yet.  I am sure I will though.  I saw one in game, and said they would get to it.

Count me in:

Died yesterday (due to a game freeze), and when I returned to find my corpse --- "You have 2 tracked deaths"

2?? I've never died!! where did 2 come from?!!?!
(I'm not sure I even deserve the 1 since is was a game crash which is typical during SOE's famous "trickle-patches", but oh ok, sure 1 death is ok)

Oh YOOOO HOOO... Devs....

Yep me too, lets keep this on top if possible. So... here's what i can provide... my trail of CSR contact on the issue. Lets hope this helps others as well as myself, and MABEY Arjun is on the case of the post he

So it begins, my initial ticket to the CSRs:
Ticket Id: 1697240

I'm a jedi and today, right before I was about to log i was was killed somehow, I was swooping home and the game froze, and crashed, and apon returning (restart) I was dead, and in my spacial window was the message: "You have 2 tracked deaths"
2??!
I have not died since the patch  and only once pre-"no permadeath", so this number was a suprise. Please help me before this goes on too long, I'm here and looking for some personal attention to this pressing issue

and... my first responce:

Greetings,

I am very sorry to hear of your trouble. It is caused by logging out or being disconnected from the server when you are dead. Then logging back in at a later time. It is counting a death at the time of death and one when you log back in. This is a known issue and the developement team is working very hard to resolve it. Sadly we have no way to reset the death or change the amount you have at this time. I do suggest you keep this in mind and are very careful to avoid getting into the danger zone with deaths.

I have read on the jedi forums many cases where other player-jedi have had their deaths refunded to them. I can quote those instances and were it just one report of it happening, I might consider myself out of luck and the report of death-refund a bogus one. However, several accounts have been made and I must insist that we do something to rectifty this problem.
I have never died, mostly due to my great care in avoiding trouble, but the fact of the matter is this problem gives me only two problems as currently stands.
1. Stop playing my jedi for whatever lenght of time it takes for developers to address this "known issue". Since I have no idea how long that could possibly be due to the Developer's insistance on keeping us in the dark about this sort of bug, so that leaves me dangling.
2. Continue to play my jedi, hoping that this issue does not repeat itself in the near future, adding ANOTHER 2 deaths to my count, making it 4 counts from 2 freezes (are the freezes ANOTHER known issue?), and with the roports of "/deathcount" not reporting correctly anyhow, who knows when I'll lose skill based on this problem.
Neither option seems fair nor reasonable. I sugguest another alternative. Refund 1 of the 2 deaths I have received due to the freeze, and I can continue to play the way I was meant to, without the damoclean sword of randome freezes coupled with double death peanalty hindering my hard work and progress.
Thank you for your time. I'll keep this open until we reach resolution.

Here is a new CSR's response, and I can't help but not the subtle sarcasm in the way he puts the word refund in quotes. From this response I can gather that the general feeling from the CSRs is: "Tough luck sucker".

Greetings (insert jedi name here), I am CSR-ChrisC. Unfortunately, we do not "refund" Jedi Deaths. If any have stated that this is the case they are mistaken in their understanding of the system involved. There have been some cases where the death tracking system was not working properly and caused them to lose a skill that it should not have. In those cases, help was issued, but at no time was a death "refunded". We can not take away deaths in that manner. The system however will decay any deaths that you have over time. Any deaths that your character had is removed from the track seven days after it occured, so they should "refund" themselves naturally. I apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused, and appreciate your patience and understandind. Thank you for playing Star Wars Galaxies, and have a GOOD day.

My next rebutal:

Comment Id: 2988921
From: (insert jedi name here)

Again, unacceptable. I do not appreciate being your guniea-pig for testing a system that is flawed and punishes the players for things they couldn't have possibly prevented. If there is not a way to refund the deaths then I highly sugguest the developers INVENT a way.
Do you feel that it is fair that I should have to wait around for a week or two weeks in this case to play my character?
Save your apology, my patience has evaporated along with my understanding. I expect RESULTS and SERVICE for this game which I PAY for! I look forward to your responce.

Ok... thats all I have so far. It's  5:30 PM here in California and I'll continue to update the list of responses as receive them. I'm not sure how many more I'll get as I have a feeling the CSR's main function in the area of "Customer Service" is to "stonewall" players while the Developers scramble cover their rears, because if they admit fault openly on this issue and do the right thing, they might have to do the right thing next time too, and the last thing they want is having to eat crow on a regular basis for lousy coding that escaped Test Center un-noticed.

Arjun... pay attention man, and please get Thunderheart involved. I'm sure I speak for lots of people when i say that the Jedi community is tired of being not only gimped, but plagued by problems that are seemingly irriversable.

Hi Slavegirl

As far as I know, they have never refunded a death back to a player but they have refunded the experience as a result of the death.  I  and a few other Jedi I know have recieved our experience back when we lost it while in the safe zone.

Hope this helps

I appreciate you posting. Unfortunately the Developers and CSRs are remaining tight-lipped on where that leaves those of us who artificially have out "deathcount" doubled due to the logout bug. So far no more responses and I've posted a couple comments in the open ticket and the last post by a CSR seems to stick to the bottom of the ticket...

Thanks again for posting, lets keep this post alive until we get some real answers and promise of help from Devs/Arjun.

Ok, update. The CSRs apparently have a way of sticking a Ticket Response to the bottom of the ticket. This seems to have the effect of:

1. Placing each new comment I make to the ticket ABOVE the sticky post, making it seem that no new comments are filed on that ticket, and this no other CSRs seem to notice.

2. I'm going to copy the old ticket's text and re-ticket it.

Pity this seems to be a tactic used by "Service Representitives"

Another Jedi here wondering if the dev's will help all of us out here by responding to this MAJOR issue.

I would rather not experiance a death and maybe even a skill loss due to a server instability crash for a known issue.

Whats the story here?

Well my problem is that if I die one more time (currently have 0 tracked deaths but 7 in total) i'll lose 2 skills and because of this I haven't been able to use my jedi in almost 3 weeks now. CSR's keep stating everything is working as usual but when I ask them if that's the case then what exactly is the point of death decay they just quote the knowledge base.

Well that seems a bit odd for a system that is "working". I find if funny how the CSRs can do a life restore or some act of helpfulness for some Jedi and not others with the same or similar problems. Seems like favoritism to me. I find it funny that some Jedi can go to the CSRs and talk sence in to them; usually getting lives restored or other players reprimanded because of a known bug or flaw in the game that was used to kill them or grief them. But my question is why is it that they are so willing to help some players and so unwilling or incapable of helping others. Is it because they have a "blacklist" of players that have done wrong in the past or that have been involved in some sort of foulplay?

Sidenote: I was involved in a case where the CSRs had flaged my chat logs because of other players saying I was griefing them and then blackmailing me; stating that if I dont stop what i am doing my account and others that are "involved" will have there accounts banned FSCS slot or not (but thats a whole different story) and now it seems that I cant even get them to respond to tickets I submit. And even when they do submit responces to my tickets the responce is less than adequet. Usually it will state they they are "Very Sorry" but there is just nothing that they can do currently and the problem is currently being addressed by the dev team. I mean I can almost imagine my own responce from the CSRs when I submit tickets nowadays.

I have even gone so far as to contact that National Correspondant for Customer Relations (or something like that) in the office of the President. She (Tracy) stated that SOE has contracted out there customer service to a company that handles all of our issues and that there is nothing that Sony or SOE can do to interfere with that process. (If anyone needs that number to Tracy feel free to private message me). I think that the more people that call and complain the better. One persons voice is nothing but the voice of many may be able to get things changed. Sony/SOE has no idea of how bad things are with the CSRs/Devs. They have no idea of how bad there name gets smeared by a contracted company that cant/wont help us. We are paying customers and I frankly find this last of customer care discusting.

I have also contacted local news stations about doing special interest reports (KRON 4, SanFrancisco Examiner, etc.). They stated to me that there was nothing they could do unless there was more of a concern voiced. Also they suggested that Certified Letters are another way to get the attention of Sony/SOE other than talking to Sony direct (office of the president being one way).
