• Troubleshooting SWGEmu

You must own an original Star Wars Galaxies client, using downloaded copies such as, Torrent, Warez or a 14 day trial clients is against the rules and will get you banned.

NOTE: Before you do anything else, please make sure that TC Nova and Basilisk are ONLINE. You can check on IRC #status channel or use a server status gadget on our front page www.swgemu.com

    1. Game just sits on the character creation screen and never budges from it…
    • Is server ONLINE?
    • Did you write a character bio?

    2. I have just installed the LPE and I’m getting this error

    • Remove the LPEcommon folder, you have the path in the message. (Go to C:\Users\*user name*\AppData\Roaming\ and delete your LPECommon folder)
    • Check your internet settings. Options -> connections -> lan settings and un-check proxy server.
    3. Crash as soon as I hit the play button.
    • If your operating system is Vista or Windows 7, are you running LPE and/or swgemu.exe as an administrator?

    • Did you try full repair from LPE?
    • Can you access the game by using swgemu.exe (swgemu_r) from your C:\SWGEmu folder (default location)

    • Make sure you have the latest drivers from nVidia

That's it. Like I said, other than all that, my graphics in-game are all set to maximum and character LoD manager is turned off, and I'm having no crashes or weird graphics glitches. My resolution is 1920x1200. The game is really beautiful, even today.

Underclocking the GPU with Rivatuner might still be an answer for those who still experience problems -- every system is different. This is just what has worked for me, so I've posted it in the hopes that it helps someone else.

    9. The path to the emulator is not valid, is the drive unplugged or missing
    • Go to C:\Users\*user name*\AppData\Roaming\ and delete your LPECommon folder (if you are running Win7 or Vista), or to C:\Documents and Settings\*user name*\Application Data (XP)
    • Go into Application Data, and find a folder called LPECommon. Open config.cfg and ensure the paths are correct.

    11. Error which states that nv has entered an infinite loop.

Uninstall everything, clean your registry, delete any folders/files left and when you are sure that you have removed any trace of previous installation, install SWG and LPE again.

    15. “5.5.1 authentication required” error

    • Try deleting the .cfg files from the C:\SWGEmu folder

    21. After I click play game freezes and i get a black screen. I needed to start the Windows Task Manager to tell the program to stop running.

    • Reset keymaps

    29. Video card issue - losing vertices
    • Go into add/remove programs, uninstall AMD Catalyst from there and restart your computer
    30. I lost chat! I can move around but I can't talk and I do see anyone else talking.

    • This means you have lost connection to the server. Pressing SHIFT+ESC will bring up a prompt that will allow you to disconnect. This will put you back at the character creation screen. Select your character and click next. You should be able to get back ingame. If this doesn't work, try exiting SWGEmu and logging back in. If this doesn't work, the server is down, please try again later.

    31. I occasionally get disconnected, where my chat stops working and I can't see other players chat.

    • This is a common bug right now with the emulator. This means you have lost connection to the server.

    31. Once I get in game, everything is very dark and black.

    • This is caused by an out-dated DLL file. You will need to download the dpvs.dll file and place it in your SWGEmu directory. Try a complete repair from LPE.

    32. When I try to start SWGEmu, I'm told I am missing a DLL file called mss32.dll.

    • You will need to download the mss32.dll file and place it in your SWGEmu directory. Try a complete repair from LPE.

    33. My client crashes to desktop and I get a text file in my SWGEmu that says "SWGEmu.exe-stage.111212-2006" "FATAL 82674e4e"

    • This means you are missing some or all of the patch files. Try a complete repair from LPE.

    34. My client crashes to desktop and I get a text file in my SWGEmu that says "SWGEmu.exe-stage.111212-2006" "FATAL 4d962776"

    • This is caused by your shortcut to SWGEmu.exe being incorrect.
    • If you are using LPE, go to Options and check if the Emu location and Sorece location are correct.
    • If you are using the shortcut created form EXE file itself, make sure you followed the connection guide provided by your admins correctly and updating your shortcut to display this in the target field: "C:\SWGEmu\SWGEmu.exe"
    • Or if you are using swgemu.exe it may indicate that your client is not installed correctly
    35. My client crashes to desktop and I get a text file in my SWGEmu that says "SWGEmu.exe-stage.111212-2006" "FATAL 55fd64d9: SetVertexShaderConstantF failed 2156"

    • Try updating your video card drivers. Some people have been able to get this working be fooling around with settings in the SWGEmu_setup.exe. Try selecting everything in the Graphics section of the SWGEmu_setup.exe or running it in Windowed mode.
    36. Toggling between windows in windowed mode crashes the client

    • Hit the ALT button a couple of times before you hit ENTER and it wont go into fullscreen
    • Also fix your full screen setting to the max of your monitor, that way the clients wont crash

    37. SWGEMu_r stopped working; SWGEmu.exe: stage.119798; unknown location : FATAL 67f5f079: file write failed for profiles/username /Liberator/4968505409557_friend_data.iff

    • If there is an empty space between your username and backslash like: ...username /... you need contact support, chances are your account wasnt created properly and you will need a new one.
    38. Error 1324. The path Launchpad Enhanced contains an invalid character
    • This could be a registry error. You can try to edit it and remove all reference to LPE in the registry or maybe try to install under a different profile if you have more of them.
    39. Unable to install the original SWG client, CD's giving me an error.
    • Copy everything from all your CD's to a single folder on your HDD and run the install from there.
    • Try making an ISO image of your CD's and using that to install SWG client
    • Use software that extracts data from damaged CD's (ISOBuster is a good example)
    • Try to find someone that can resurface your CD's (used to be easy to find, now not so much)
    • If all else fails, there are cheap sets of SWG CD's on e-bay

Please note, this is still work in progress so it is to be expected that things will be added or edited from time to time.
