Food first. Always give booze up last.

They don't need to go out to drink. Drinking at home is perfectly acceptable.

Actually it was SSD's. I was in a rush to post the announcement, and i pulled the trigger before TA could review it, turns out 2 SSD's died, not 2 HDD's. But in the grand scheme of things, that makes zero difference now.

Does alcohol harm SSDs in the same way it harms HDDs?

No idea. Will have to test it wehn we bring Bas back online. Results would be inconclusive if we test it while its offline.

SSDs are a "guaranteed to fail" technology. They have a limited lifetime. This is not a surprise to anyone who maintains high-availability services.

Combine high-availability with high transaction (write) rates, and "average expected lifetime" of the hardware is an overly-optimistic guess, at best.

I understand that this is user-funded.

I understand that this is volunteer staffed.

I understand that users will gripe at the hint of ANY downtime.

I just observe that you (the EMU team) have your best people wrapped around a critical failure. Please understand that I say the following with a HUGE amount of respect and admiration for the team: "SSD technology *WILL* fail. Plan for it."

Again, great respect and admiration for the work being done.
    Question your assumptions.

The importance of lower character limits can't be overstated when it comes to making the economy in the original live game work the way that it did. With that said, even the $15 a month per account wasn't really a deterrent for people that wanted to power game. Dealing with that is going to be a massive issue when the time comes to launch Suncrusher.

But we aren't there yet. Wanting to make e-fortunes and having a more vibrant social scene are not a priority at this stage in the development cycle. Sorry.

I had 22 accounts. It allowed me to have my own city. That was enough to be completely independent

How did you find time to grade homework and manage 7 accounts?

This, in my opinion, is why it should be wiped regardless and reset peoples expectations. This isn't the final iteration of the game, so dont so attatched to it.
