There's some poor devs working their asses off and spending countless hours to get the server stable in their freetime, while i'm sure they might wanna be doing other things, least we can do is be patient guys. Well done Devs, thank you for your efforts.

I'm coming back to the game and I'd like to know if Basilisk is still the primary server? (because it says TC Nova (Recommended) when I tried to create a new character).
On which server should I create a character?

yes Basklisk is the primary server. Nova is recommended for testing.
Currently on the entry page it will show a recent update. There have been a few down times on Basilisk.
So I would suggest using the test server nova for a while if you are wanting to play to get the hang of the game
and test out your build in the mean time.

I read somewhere that when the SWGemu reaches release 1.0 Basilisk will be wiped. Is this true?
If so at which point is SWGemu now? 0.8?

We are at no particular point in the sense of numbers. What we are, is closer to 1.0 today, than we where yesterday.
Basilisk will be wiped when SWGEmu have reached its goal at emulate the 14.1 version of the game.

TC Nova is "recommended" because it has the lightest server load. That's just a mechanic of the game, it would always recommend you to the server with the fewest people on it.

Basilisk is the long-term test (or "play") server that is used to find errors due to higher traffic or economy and so on that can't be found with a small population on Nova.
