Liberator Cloud mini test - 11/23/2011

Developers have installed a tool that detects memory leaks, they are tying to determine the cause of those leaks and if possible fix them to a degree so they can add some of the things community suggested. Memory leaks are the biggest obstacle that prevents us from moving Liberator to the Cloud permanently.

Please log on to your LiberatorTest characters, run multiple instances, make new characters. Lets put that new tool to good use and help developers fix those memory leaks.

PLEASE NOTE: LiberatorTest is already up and running, has beenall day. If necessary Regular Liberator will be taken offline tomorrow and it will stay offline until developers get the data they need.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sweet. I'll jump on sometime later when I get back and help out.

Just for future reference what are some tasks we can do to bump up the memory usage? Like for instance crafting or running macros as opposed to combat, or does any of that matter?

Thats why they installed that too, to see what is causing those memory leaks.

Just play as much as you can, as often as you can.

It would be helpful to know in what areas you need the players to concentrate.

It would not make much of an impact having my toons surveying and sampling materials, if the memory leaks are caused by, say, dancing or playing an instrument.

We dont really know whats causing those memory leaks, that is why we cant tell you what to do and that is why we have those tools installed.

If You will Allow it I can set my computer up with bot programs running Various Tasks to help out. I believe my computer should be able to run about 15 to 20 instances before it slows down. SO that would mean 20 more test characters that would run 24/7. Ill wait for your approval and if its all good Ill go find a compatible bot program or write one and help ya guys out!

You can run as many instances as you like, or as many as your computer can handle. Not sure if you'll be able to create more than 2 toons though.

Do not use bots.

Try to use the more "legal" AFK macros. Those are a tolerated in-game means of doing the same, but without the need of using third party programs. There are AFK macros for surveying, sampling, dancing, buffing and even combat... Just search a little in the forums.

As for multiple toons, you can create two after every server reset, but you can have only two online simultaneously.

No alternate logins, just do what you can with toons you have and macros in game. No need fro multiple accounts or third party programs.

how long will this test be up? I only ask because I'm going to start making a M. Doc w/buffs and it takes awhile to gather all the resources...

Until devs get the info they need.

Is the test finished for now?

I seem unable to connect to Lib-T, even if I can log into Lib without a problem.

<%Vlada> Are we done with LibTest for now?
<@oru> we have some valuable data, will see if we can figure out the leaks
<%Vlada> OK, is mini test over?
<@oru> I'll analyze the data in a couple of hours and see if it's enough

thanks for finding out vlada it puzzled me cause it acted like it had crashed instead of its usual timer and warning of server restart/shutdown. i hope ya'll will bring it back up even though it starts you out a good ways for jedi
i think the trial global timer and mel mission is a good challenge

The idea of having a zero XP server is interesting for two reasons:

-Allows to test builds and professions without having to grind and discover, too late, that that profession is not as interesting as it looked. I, for one, am testing a Chef and a Tailor, even if I would never grind those in the real Lib just to satisfy my curiosity.
-Keeps the Queen Fan Mob (you know, those that sing "I want it all, I want it all, and I want it NOW" ) away from Liberator. They think they make some kind of progress and it keeps them happy in a pointless server.

I'd say it's win-win.

Vlada said there would be a second round of "memory leaks locating", so no, they don't have all the info, but don't hold your breath waiting. They will restart Cloud when they are ready.
