Brawler
starter guide v1.0
Introduction:
So, you’ve gone through creating
your new character and decided to
walk the path of the melee
combatant. While ranged professions
rely on finesse and guile to defeat
their opponents, we rely on brute
force and the ability to take a hit.
We are up close and personal. Alone,
with some strategy, we can go toe to
toe with just about anything. In a
group, we are the first line of
defense. We are the protectors of
all behind us, and all who support
us. We specialize in agro control,
keeping the enemy away from everyone
else.
I. Starting
Off - Which path is right for you.
In deciding which profession you
would like to be after brawler, it
is important to know which elite
profession you will be choosing. Do
you want to be a tank (able to take
damage) or do you want to do want to
deal the damage. Let’s start with a
break down of each class.
A.
Pikeman - Pikes
deal in modifying the states of the
opponent and effectively holding
agro by taking the brunt of the
enemy attack. Pikemen have the
ability to stun, snare, slow attack
speed, decrease damage output, area
attack, area attack with knock down,
and single opponent knock down.
These effects help you or your group
affectively control the enemy.
B.
Swordsman -
Swords are damage dealers at close
range. You rely on brute force to
take out your opponents quickly and
effectively. You won’t last as long
in a fight, but given the damage you
deal, you shouldn’t need to.
Swordsmen have the ability to use
powerful attacks to quickly drain
the health of any opponent. Also
added ability to decrease armor
effectiveness is helpful in granting
extra damage dealing for a short
time.
C.
Fencer - Fencers
deal in damaging opponents by Damage
over Time attacks, as well as state
effects. Fencers have the ability to
snare, stop action regen, bleed
attack, blind and knock down. These
abilities allow extra time to deal
out the damage needed to take down
your opponents.
D.
Teras Kasi - The
effectiveness of the Teras Kasi is
to take as many of the hits, but
take as little damage as possible.
With an improved Center of Being and
innate armor, they can make their
enemies do very little damage to
them. They also have the ability to
knock down and dizzy opponents to
make attacking easier and more
effective.
II. Now You’ve
Decided - Which brawler path to
take.
A.
Pikeman -
Pikemen require Two Handed and
Polearm trees to go into the Pikeman
profession.
B.
Swordsman -
Swordsman require Two Handed and One
Handed trees to progress.
C.
Fencer - Fencers
are required One Handed and Unarmed
trees for progression.
D.
Teras Kasi -
Requires Two Handed and Unarmed
trees to specialize in the unarmed
profession.
III. Now You
Know What You Need - Where to start
getting experience.
As you start off, you should stay
close to the non-player cities. The
mobs around these cities generally
range between level 1 and level 8.
This is a good place to start off to
get experience. If you can, I
suggest that you pick up some medic
skills until you get high enough to
take the hits of the enemies around
you (if you are solo). If you can,
you should find a group. You get a
bonus to experience for being in a
group, as well as the benifeits of
the skills the players in your group
can use to help you. Also consider
picking up an entertainer buff to
add the extra 10% bonus to
experience.
IV. Ready For
New Equipment - Where and what to
buy.
You’ve leveled up to the point where
you have out grown your weapons. So
now what do I do? Well, you should
visit the bazaar and search for the
new weapons you can equip. What can
