    Ok i guess this is a ball'zo stealz kinda question... How to truly loop a macro,

    Ball'Zo Steelz Says adventurously, "Simple my young padawan"

    Ok its all about the command /load

    In your swg folder you can make a text file in notepad which will define some alias which will be loaded once in-game with the command load...
    My example is a textfile i used in the beta for my entertainer, it was really helpful, but needed some tweaks...

    Anyways look at this

    dancemacro.txt :
    dma: /startdance poplock; /pause 4; /tiphat; /pause 1; /dm2
    dm2: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm3;
    dm3: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm4;
    dm4: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /tiphat; /pause 1; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm5;
    dm5: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm6;
    dm6: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm7;
    dm7: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /tiphat; /pause 1; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm8;
    dm8: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm11;
    dm9: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm10;
    dm10: /flourish 8; /pause 8; /tiphat; /pause 1; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /flourish 8; /pause 8; /dm11;
    dm11: /stopdance; /pause 385; /dma;

    In this text, the names are defined before the :,
    In this macro, all i had to do was /dma and i could go have a lunch with my brother, or just hit on the girl thats always in the coffe shop (which is top sexy), while my entertainer was getting Healing XP AND Dancing XP.

    Yes i made this macro, yes i come from UO times, yes im gonna get this girl at the Coffee Shop

    --------
    Yeah i forgot to include the interruption of a macro :

    simply make a dancemacrooff.txt

    dma: /macrostopped
    dm2: /macrostopped
    dm3: /macrostopped
    dm4: /macrostopped
    dm5: /macrostopped
    dm6: /macrostopped
    dm7: /macrostopped
    dm8: /macrostopped
    dm9: /macrostopped
    dm10: /macrostopped
    dm11: /macrostopped

    of course /macrostopped is a dumy function...

    This will overwrite all of the alias, just be sure to "/load dancemacrooff.txt"

    You will have to wait for the execution line to be over.

    Hope that helps ya

      you guys know you dont need /ui action toolbarSlot##? you can use /macro <macroname>, a command which, not surprisingly, calls itself again. hence, putting it at the end of your macro, will loop it. stop it with /dump

      I am not sure about all this text file stuff, but i made a dance macro that loops continuously.  My dancer only stops when her action runs out, and, if nobody heals her, she will begin again when she has enough action points. I used a simple one called FLASHDANCE1 in slot 00 (f1.

      /startdance EXOTIC; (or whatever dance)
      /pause 10;
      /dazzle;
      /flourish 1;
      /pause 10;
      /flourish 2;
      /pause 10;
      /flourish 3;
      /pause 40; (use whatever pause time you want)
      /ui action toolbarSlot 00

      Now, once it begins, hit cntrl-shift S to auto rotate the camera. I am assuming that this defeats the auto AFK and your computer will not log you, because it works for me. If I don't do auto-rotate, I can come back in an hour to find I have been logged. Also, remember to disable your auto-afk. I went throught the weekend (Friday-Sunday morning) continously without stopping, mostly because there was no update Saturday morning.

      Remember this is a dancer macro, and is good if your in a group where medics can heal you. The last pause is long so you can heal if you stop dancing. Also, with startdance as your first command, if you do stop dancing, it will startup again as the macro loops. You can also use longer strings, light/smoke effects, and even bandflourishes, which double my xp's if other dancers are doing the same dance as me in the group.

      Lastly, I am confident that if they (SOE) didn't want you to do it, they wouldn't have put it in the game. So whats the difference. Using the macro, my character still took almost 3 months to get close to Master, which I should be able to get this week. But, tips are few and far between (meaning I am still broke), dancer healing xp depends on others players to be hurt first and watching you, clothes are incredibly expensive, and, most important, I AM PAYING 15 BUCKS A MONTH, so I can do pretty much whatever I want to do!!! I am willing to bet that SOE set it up like this on purpose. Think about all the money they generate for themselves and others. Think this website was free????...How much was your ISP bill...How much did that video card upgrade cost so you could run the game in the first place???($149.95!!!).....LOL

      Use 2 macros and get protected against the pop-up freeze:

      Macro 1, sample
      /sample;
      /pause 500;
      /dumpPausedCommands
      /macro 2;

      Macro 2, pause
      /sit;
      /pause 180;
      /stand;
      /pause 1;
      /macro 1;

      Now we got ourselfs a nice little pop-up resistant loop. You will stop sample when the pop-up is shown though. The pause will still last for 500 secs. This means that you can loose up to 500 secs of sampling time if your unlucky. It wont freeze the entire loop though. Also note that the pop-up will only affect the loop that is running when it first shows. That means that once the pop-up is up, all the coming loops will run uninterrupted. Simple as that :)

        There is a REALLY easy way to loop a macro.  Set the macro in your toolbar then use "/ui action toolbarSlot##" the ## corresponds to the slot number and ranges from 00-23. This is case sensitive so watch out.

        If you're talking about an AFK PVP macro, that's idiotic in the extreme... no macro can take into account an opponent who is smart and creative.

        Even if they implemented some sort of IF/THEN statement in scripting (Which I don't believe will happen), the best AFK Macro PVP'er will still get owned by inferior players with just a little creativity.

        Your best bet is to make several small scripts to automate actions you always do in sequence, and put them on hotkeys... and you'd have to provide some idea of your fighting style for us to even consider writing those.

        Your way actually works better than mine.  You also have the added bonus of being able to stop the macro by simply moving the macro out of the toolbar.

        One suggestion though, use a ;/ui action toolbarPanexx to change to the pane that the you put the macro into. That way, you can still change your bar to another pane and use other macros/hotkeys. When the macro is ready to look around, it will switch back to the right pane.

      OMG peeps.  This is so simple.

      Here's how to defeat the recusion trap.

      In the alias.txt file, I define an alias. I call it as1 (make up your own name if you want, but shorter is better). Then you make a macro that calls as1 a bunch of times. Hang on, there is a trick. Read on.

      /as1 /kneel;/sample;/pause 1200;/sit;/pause 240;/sample;/pause 1200;/sit;/pause 240;/sample;/pause 1200;/sit;/pause 240;

      Yes, that's my real macro and real numbers. I have a Mon Calamari and he can sample for 20 minutes with just one /sample. The command as above will get him to sample for an hour. He has max action, quick and stam.

      Okay, how do I defeat the recursion?

      Make a macro with this:

      8hr: /as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/pause 4320;/as1;/say I just sampled for 8hrs

      Okay, it really runs longer than 8 hours because of the sit function. BUT, the point is, if you put a pause between calls, it won't trigger the recursion trap.

      Yes, I actually use this macro. Well, not exactly, mine has some /says in it so I can tell where it is in the 3 cycle process, and it sends a tell to my main toon when it's done with a 1 hr block.

      If your toon can't sample as long as mine, follow the directions mentioned above about timing your sample and sit length and adjust the numbers. You'll probably have to add more lines to the /as1 command to make it an hour long.

      This gives me the flexability to just run /as1 if I want my mule to sample for an hour and then I can move him. Or, if I'm going to go off and do other things, or call it a night, I can run the Macro and let it go for 8hrs, or whatever.

      Enjoy!

            Caps are needed on Pane and Slot. This works from the third hotkey set (toolbarPane02), position "F10" (toolbarSlot09) You also would need to adjust the "sample;/pause 300" and "sit;/pause 120" to suit your character.

      Somehow I seriously doubt that if they didn't want longterm macroing to work, that they would have done such a crappy job of "protecting" the system...it is much more likely that these are merely bugs in their macro system, OR in their command-line parser.  If they didn't want long-term macroing to occur, they would simply limit the length of a macro to one line, or set a time limit on them. Just the fact that some people have no problem with their alias file work-arounds and others have tons of problems goes to show that they didn't PURPOSEFULLY "protect" the system...rather, like ALL new MMOs, it's a semi-broken system...

      Having said that, the anonymous post above with the call to /ui action was simply brilliant. VERY simple, and effective :) Way to go bud. Hope you're on Kettemore :)
