  • So you just bought a droid! now what?

    So you just bought a droid deed. you open your inventory to see your new purchase and stare at a square brown and white rotating deed. Not very impressed huh?!

    First clik on the deed in inventory for the radial dial and select tame. This will call your droid out. Looks good now! An actual side kick that will follow you around like a love sick puppy. Well not yet. you have to program it.

    To program your droid you need to click on him/her for the radial dail and select the tab programing. Select a command. For this example I going to use stay. Use to be if you were not fast enough your new droid would start running amonk checking out the seroundings..just like a new player . After selecting 'stay' the droid will respond with a ' ? '. this means he is ready for your next word you say. That word will then be the command it will uderstand and obey by Staying. So type in the chat '/say Stay'. He will now respond with a ' ! ' denoting that it has accepted the command line. Now every time you say 'Stay' it will stay put and not follow or wonder around. Here is a list I usally use for my commands.

    Follow me = Follow

    Follow Target = chase

    befriend = friend

    stay = stay

    group = group

    Column formation = column

    wedge formation = wedge

    Patrol = patrol

    set patrol point = point

    clear patrol point = clear

    transfer = TRANSfER (yes, the command is case sinsative!)

    release = rELEASE

    I suggest you make a macro for the commands it helps in the wild. Also to name the droid use the name you want in front of the command while you are programming it. example /say stay. After a few comands the droid will rename its self.

    After you have programmed your droid I sugest grouping with it. A green dot wil show in your radar and the distant meter on the name tag will help you keep track of the little guy.

    Droids use power to recharge your droid you can either select 'store' droid from the radial menu on the droid or select recharge if you have a droid battery in your inventory.

    Ok you stored your droid and want to play with it again. So you open inventory and...wait! where did it go?! ACK! Don't panic! A tamed droid stores in your data pad now and not the inventory slot. So hit crt-d and look under data. Whew, there he is safe and sound. Click on him for the menu and select call. Your little side kick is ready for your commands!

    You may only 'call' a pet from a city/campsite/house but it will follow you out into the wild.

    Yes droid pets can be attacked and destroyed ..so protect that little one from the harsh landscape. I am not sure that if you choose a faction and are covert..i think your pet is Overt at all times. So keep an eye out for the oposite faction taking shots at the droid. So be warned.

    A note on droids with a medical module. A mouse droid with a medical module i s a benafit to all medics. With this little guy out a medic can preform their skills outside of the campsite or medical center. This module does NOT allow a droid to heal others! It only allows a trainned medic to heal others in the 'Field'. Only a surgical droid can heal players.

    Known broken droids:

    DE's I have found that the mouse storage droid is 'broken' it will not allow items to be stored in it yet. Also the data droid is suppose to act like an extension of your data pad to store schematics and watpoints. i have not tested this feature yet. Seeker droids created pop into your inventory as a fully functional droid and you can't do a **edit** thing with it. i think it was suppose to be a deed to. hope its fixed soon.

    Small list of droids and functions

    Mouse droid: medic module...allows medics to heal in field.

    Mouse droid: storage module...allows items to be stored in it (broken atm)

    Mouse droid: Storage madule...allows data to be stored in it schematics and waypoints.

    Treed Wed: Acts like a general crafting public station when deployed.

    R5 droid: Acts like a Food and Chemical public station when deployed (great for Chiefs and Medics for crafting)

    R4 droid: acts like a Armour and Cloth public station when deployed (great for Armoursmiths and tailors)

    Seeker droid: unknown. Broken, when created pops into inventory as a droid and not a deed. unusable atm.

    DZ70 droid: nice little melee droid but very very weak. look for an advance modle with armour module installed.

    EG-6 power droid: not quite sure about this one. I haven't played with it much. Suppose to be able to power things like factories and such.

    R2 droid i don't know yet. sorry, i am guessing its the weapons and installation public station type droid.

    R3 droid: This is the one all crafters going to want! it acts like all the public stations rolled up into one droid =)

    That's all the ones I know. Post here if you have more information of the different droid types. I did a mission at the Emperor's retreat and saw an R7 droid. well with that said I hope it helps out you new droid owners. What's that? you don't have a droid yet. Get out of here...no way, everyone has at least one droid right?! Well here is where you can get one.

I've a Probot and, to be honest, the way it saps batteries is beyond ridiculous, so I'm looking to sell it and it would be much easier to sell the Deed than it would the existing unit.

        The message just means that someone has used a customizaton kit to change it's appearance. Doesn't effect the operational abilities of the droid at all. You can purchase customization kits for droids just like you can for vehicles. Look for vendors that sell droids as well as accessories for droids.

        hi!
        the line: the customization of your droid fades a bit (more)..., or The customization of your droid has completely faded away, just means that the color your droid is painted with is coming off, or has completely disappeared. i don't know if this has any effect on the functionality or the decay rate, couldn't tell that mine (fugitive tracker droid with med module) behaved any different. u can color your droid again by asking droid engineers if they would paint it again, i could choose between 20 different colors.

        hope that helps

      Does it matter if I put a comma after the droid's name in the commands? For example, would "Harvey, follow me" be any different than "Harvey follow me"? It sounds like a dumb question but it's possible that commas aren't allowed in the name. I just felt like using the right grammar so I didn't look stupid.

Any ideas why? Do they need personality chips or similar before they can be named? Unacceptable name? Bug?

      I have a question about droid damage.  I have a Probot droid that I use quite often in combat. I noticed recently the the droid was getting the equivelent of wounds on it's pool bars. I tried using the Droid repair tool with no luck. I tried leaving it out in a camp for an extended period of time. Still the wounds remain. Finally an artisian made me a few droid batteries. When I used the droid battery it "healed" / repaired the mind pool "wounds". The health and action pool bars still have "wounds". The "wounds" are minor at this point but I am afraid that over time they will continue to accumulate to the point the probot will no longer be useful. Any ideas?

He says things like start convo 1, end convo 2, which I assume is part of how to program him. At least droid guides are starting to come out, thanks for this. I think they are a mystery to just about everyone, since no manuals seem to come with them. You can't even tell what chips they have.
