This needs to be added, somehow, as well. It's pretty long.

very interesting read. It's amazing how many empty promises they can make and lies they can tell.

Ya know, that never would've been too much to implement either. I think Mace Windu could sum up the reason it never happened...."Lazy ass mother fuckers..." |

I just had to add about the capital ships at Fan Fest '05. I was there and everyone was told that the "big announcement" we all were anxious to hear about would come at the end of the final night (Sat night) dinner. We ate our food (I wont even comment on the quality of the food), listened to them talk, watch games, and handouts tossed, then it was announcement time. Lights dim, projectors fire up the video on three giant screen, and they let it rip. We were told "here's something we've been working on you should expect to see in the future". They then show the infamous video with the color commentary. You heard the excitement from people in the audience. Do you really think people would have been that happy had the devs said "oh, we were messin' on Bob's laptop and came up with this fixed asset demo". After talking about it further with the audience, they played it a SECOND time with as much fanfaire to showcase THE BIG NEWS. Thankfully much liquor was consumed that weekend to wash down the BS.
I honestly don't think this was ever just some "fun project" someone did on their spare time. This was a planned expansion that was cut because the game has no future and doesn't warrant any further development costs on that scale. And if I'm wrong, and it was as joke from the beginning, then those involved should be embarrassed of themselves and never gain employment in a position like that again. Either way you look at it, lies lies lies. |

Yep-- I was there, while sitting with a bunch of old Knights... as we were told the new FRS in concept was going to be great....
Yeah... we know how that worked out. |

As I read the OP's work the biggest lie that came to mind was the Smuggler Revamp, but that was brought up earlier so I'll not go there again. I just kept thinking while reading this, "A company as large as Sony can continue to float a ship that would have been sunk already had any other, smaller, less profitable company done the same thing." Sony is clearly crunching numbers, and unfortunately since the game is still going the numbers must still be there. I'll celebrate when the servers are finally taken down.
You know, they all said they were implementing changes to try to capture some of the player base that Blizzard has with WoW, but they try to do that by making this genre more and more like EQ2. Even to the point of patching in files that have EQ2 in the filename. I remember watching the details of a patch being downloaded onto my computer and wondering why the heck I was seeing *eq2* in the filenames. I've recently picked up a copy of EQ2 and started playing it and now I see the similarities. And when I started playing EQ2 my first thoughts were, "Which MMO came out first, EQ2 or WoW?"
After I left SWG near the end of November '05 I went to WoW and played until December '06, now I"m in EQ2 and thinking about Station Access so I can try out SWG to see how screwed it is. I dont know, I'll prolly cry a little inside if I do. |

The game isn't getting the numbers anymore. Everyone's best guess is that it's well south of 50,000 now and still sinking.
We also guestimate that SWG needs between 80 and 100K subs to be profitable after paying the $10 million license fee to LEC, as well as pay for operating costs.
Odds are, these are the final days, weeks, and at most 2-3 months of SWG. Which is one reason why I went back, I guess I want to see the trainwreck when it happens. |

Well i hate to say it, but i think going back just to see the trainwreck is a bad idea, b/c if other like you who want to see the trainwreck all go back, well the SOE might get the subs they need to continue going forward. So going back just to see it happen is a bad idea, and coming from you, im a bit disappointed that you would pay them $15 just to see it go down. I for one will wait and watch, i wont give them my money just so i can see it go down. To be honest there is no reason to give them your money to see the game end, you wont see it.
If the game is close to finally being put to rest, then sit back and watch the show, dont go giving them your money so you can see what we all are going to see without giving them money. |

You might have a point, but i think SOE is just trying real hard to continue to hold that Star Wars license, as long as they hold it, no other company can develope and produce a Star Wars MMO. So imo they are just making all the cuts needed to hold onto that license. |

Do you mind if I use this information elsewhere.
This is pretty good.
|
I personally dont mind. Im not revealing anything as far as a source goes so I dont see any harm in it. Id love to see this on SOE's site in response to Helios' post about future revamps planned.
Just dont mention anything about bioware rumors and such.
|
I would just love to see that as well. Unfortunately/fortunately I don't have a active account on the forums lol.
Obraik would you mind?
|
I dedicate this one to Obraik and his mindless thinking while paying these people....
In fact this should be stapled to the NGErs foreheads as they read this and then wonder why all the player cites are empty.
I just have to see this and think --- COMMON SENSE -- LOGIC !~ HELLO!!!
What is so hard to understand about this???? I mean crap there is so many things left out of this and it even still looks bad.
MMO awards
MEETING OF DEVS at the Gamasutra site and the producers telling people NOT TO MAKE THE MISTAKE THEY DID?????????
I mean really, at what point do you not realize you are a fool for paying them and being taken advantage of??
I just cannot understand this with people... you almost want to slap them to gain some sense. |

Hey Hey All
I know the old forums have been purdged however did TH once say SOE did a stealth profession increase to unlock Jedi? I could be completely wrong here.
As I remember there was concern of such an increase because people began posting about how they would unlock in the high end of the 20's instead of unlocking in the teens. Again I could be wrong but does anyone else remember something aobut this?
I say this because the message we were told was that it was 5 professions and the Holo's would give us 4 of of the 5 professions. 5th one was silent.
Cheers
