My stance as Events Developer and Self-Appointed Defender of Entertainers (and in part ATK Docs):

AFK buffing in public will be severely frowned upon. As I've said in the past, don't be surprised if there is some sort of Imperial patrol checking for AFK Bots in major thoroughfares

Frowned upon? Buffbots are a crucial part of Pre-CU. Without them, at 4am, where am I going to get buffs from when everyone is offline? Confused

Hmm if someone is willing to risk leaving their character running a buff bot i am more than happy to use them when there are no others around... at the start a buff bot will be quite handy if someone has the supplies to run one... there is not going to be enough people will the skill/money/crafting skill ect when swgemu goes live for there to be people buffing all the time Confused

There is obviously two sides to it... i swing in favour mainly due to how annoyin it is if you cant get a buff when you want/need one.

i hope that AFK entertainers will not fill up the cantinas as they did before.

if there is ATK entertainers please use them Smile

if there is no one online to buff you, then i see no reason why a buffbot can not be used.

but if all is going to have an alt bufbot, the jobs of the live entertainers gone .

I hope we have buff bots cause face it for at least the first few months we wont see the amount of people on the servers we saw back in the good old days, plus im sort of an insomniac and tend to be on at all hours of the night.

we dont have an official answer to the buff bot question yet.

my personal opinion is this: keep your buff bots private. if you keep an AFK buffbot in a public space in an attempt to make a profit it is highly likely that when you check on it something will have killed it.

why not have it where buffbots can be used in player cities?

that's exacly what he's saying.....set up a buff house, like they had pre-cu, and no one will bother your buff bot.

Pay for entry, get your buffs, and go about your business....painless, and it doesn't bother the rest of us with annoying buff spammers in coronet and theed.

That's actually a smart idea to use house entrance fee as the buff fee. Plus buffbots in PC's could attract attention for other business to player owned shops n' such.
