Gratz! you made it to padawan! *applause*

now here are a few things to keep in mind as you begin this hellish grind we call jedi:

1) dont expect to be uber 1337... you will suck royally for a while... deal with it... you will get better in time.

2) expect to see HORRID exp.. welcome to the grind... jedi exp is about 1/5th of weapon exp

3) do not "showcase" your new LS in any city or to ANYONE unless you enjoy BH owning you for about 2 hours.

4) wear your robe only in the middle of nowhere. For a noob jedi it gives you +250 force power and +1 FP regen per second.

5) do not hunt on endor or dathomir and be very careful on even yavin unless you enjoy having your ass handed to you on a platter.

6) stay buffed at all times if possible

7) to get rid of visibility you must not use your force powers and be logged in. Sit in your private house for a hour or so after every session to erode your visibility. (works for me)

8) if you see a BH and you aren't a master saber (or at least saber 4-0-0-4) with force run 1 and a least healing 2-2-0-0 run... dont be a hero or you will be dead. (and will loose 230k jedi exp upon cloning, if you get rezzed however its only -30k)

9) force channel is invaluable.

10) you can and should wear bio engy'd clothing... anything that will provide dizzy/kd defeses and bleeding are great. we jedi have no innate defenses to melee, but saber toughness does protect you somewhat.

11) visit your local chef and get mind food and some +1000 to health and action food (name escapes me) pop it if you see a BH comming for you or are about to die

12) make friends with lots of doctors... they can save your ass and rez you if you do die... take note of any in the city you were just in to they can come help you.

13) hunting in a group of more than 2 isn't safe. the more people around you the more visibility.

14) if a shuttle of ST's suddenly lands near you, you are on the terminals and a BH will shortly follow (happened to me 3 times)

15) KEEP ALL PEOPLE AT LEAST 60m AWAY FROM YOU WHEN YOU ARE HUNTING! 100m to be safe. this keeps your visibility way down.

The following are tips from throughout the thread. Their authors are in front of the tip for proper credit

No armor what-so-ever.

If you do get on the terminals, when a BH finds and attacks you, that will only INCREASE your visibility.

Create a safehouse.  A private house, with only you and your closest bros on the list.  And put one where you can get to it while hunting.

Hunt at or below your cap.  Killing quenkers may give you max xp for you level...  But maybe easier things will too.  It's all about xp vs time.

Alivar:

1. When grinding always use a saber that is 5-9fc so you have minimal downtime. Like the previous poster said, it's all about xp vs. time. You might able to kill stuff faster with 3rd gen saber but if you don't have the right pearls to bring the fc down then it will only slow you down.

2. Join a guild that supports jedi and will help you along the way.

3. Until you get master ls or at the very least 4004ls then don't even think about winning against a bh on his mission.

1) no i dont think so

2) yes you can

3) yes, once you make your first generation saber.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

clothing able to be worn with the jedi robe = gloves, hat and belt

no shirt

xp lose scales up as you get more jedi boxes so at novice lightsaber yer gonna only lose like 30k from cloning....another 30k if a BH deathblows you.....at for example xx4x of lightsaber you will lose 100k from cloning and 30k from BH so 130k total.

Starting planets are decent for grinding to novice saber and for yer first box in saber....I suggest going xx1x since the double bladed polearm tree gets a AoE special in the first box while the 2handed and 1handed trees do not get an AoE special until the 4th box.

Unless you like alot of downtime wear yer robe while grinding as it gives you a much better regen rate for your force pool.  Keep the BE clothes on you in case a BH finds you though, I would also suggest getting Feign Death as it has saved my arse a number of times from BH and normal mobs too.

Suggested food is good....you may also want to carrying around some spice (Nuetron Pixie, Moun Gold) as a Just In Case I Need It.

PSGs are handy vs some BHs...ie fencer/bh with stun batons...not good against kinetic dmg though.

2 Ak'uan Rings are really good to have to get that extra +10 range def and they can also be worn with robes.

Max out your melee def and your range def as these 2 skills are invaluable to leveling jedi.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are a n00b padawan like I was a few days ago, pick up novice brawler at least if you don't already have it (You should). Use Berserk 1 on a 25 sec macro, and you will do around double damage. It will greatly decrease time needed to attain Novice LS. After Novice LS, I strongly suggest that you train 0010 in LS to get the area attack. Don't worry about whether or not Double Bladed LS's are overplayed now. Who cares? You can get jedi xp up to 5x as fast with the AOE.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chimichi:
Brawler is an amazing skill for us padawans too:
  1. to get to novice LS you can't use specials, but you CAN berserk and raise the damage you do.
  2. Initimidate is invaluable, use it!!
  3. warcry-IF you are low level and get jumped by a bh and land a warcry that will give you enough time to hit your armor macro (for me my emergency BH macro switches me to another tool bar slot, eats thaktillio, puts on stun helm/chest, equips nightsister lance, and activates my CoB for the upcoming murder of the brave BH)

We have other skills still as padawans, use them to your advantage.  If you don't have skills that will help take a few days to get them, the Jedi grind is long and tough and they WILL save your life and XP.

Preperation is EVERYTHING.  Finally my obsessive-compulsive behaviour is paying off

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question:

ok, i have a question. How safe is it to hunt with one other person, or will hunting with one person give you visibility?
enogh to get on the boards?

Answer:

if i grind with one person around me for about 3-4  hours im on the boards... and thats our in the middle of nowhere...

2 people in your group its about 2.5 - 3 hours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question:

This may be a silly question, but how can you tell when you are on the BH terminals, short of being attacked?

Answer:
If you see a shuttle of stormtroopers drop near you then you are on the terminals. Expect a BH within 15 minutes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question:
Ok I got novice LS, and I'm loving my double LS, but I got a few questions about the BH terminals.

1) Do you get visibility for using powers around guildies or groupies?

2) Do you get visibility with your robes on?

3) Do you get visibility with your LS equiped but not out?

4) Do aggro npcs give visibility, such as jantas?

Oh and one more, how close to someone do you need to be to get visibility?

Any help at all would be nice.  Thanks

Answer:

1) yes

2) im not sure but im convinced that it increases your visibility when you are hunting.. hunted with them on one day and off the other... with them on i had bh's on me alot faster.

3) no

4) yes, ANY npc's that see you using your force powers or saber specials you will generate alot of visibility. much more than if you didn't kill them or hunt near them.

5) id say around 300m but i could be wrong... (keep in mind you can see a LS from FOREVER away)

(edit) it seems you generate visibility even if you are alone and around noone... just alot slower.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Picking up all of the novice boxes has helped me immensly.

woolie (the savage beast)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a useful tip for new Padawans:

If a BH does attack you, regardless if they get the kill, don't talk smack! lol  Getting killed by a BH, or killing a BH with your mission does not get you removed from the terminals.  So if you talk smack to the BH, they can simply repull your mission and hunt you again.

I always made it a point to kill my mark again if they sent me hate /tells after the confrontation.  If I kill a mark, and the first /tell I see from him/her is "Good fight" or "Nice job" I never repull their mission immediately, or hunt them again that day.

If I was a Jedi Initiate would I been attacked by BH's?

No ,  only at padawan can you gain visibilty .

Additional tip for new padawans is to pick up some additional novice professions .  Once i learned novice LS I was able to quickly pick up novice healer, enhancer and defender which helped my force pool and regen rate emensly.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

nioblack wrote: Great Thread! 1. I think adding Novice Jedi Defense is a must. It only costs 20K XP and you get a nice bump in skill mods on top of the 200 Force power and +1 regen. 2. Another posted tip was to complete the Hero's quest for the Rez ring. Can someone discuss strategies for defending your padawan once a BH attacks? I would guess: 1. Keep your bike out at all times 2. Jump on your bike when you see a blue dot racing towards you 3. Head to your safe house and wait it out Thanks!

Beast9156:

Some strategies i use is:

Get force run 1 asap (saved me a buncha times)

if you dont have FR1 then keep your speeder very close (but BH can kill speeders, and do, so have 3 in your datapad)

have a "false weapon" for around town and even hunting... if you see that blue dot it could just be a passerby but if they see a LS they may have a BH friend... sometimes if you just quickly switch to your false weapon  from your LS and shoot at the mob instead of have your LS out it can save you some hassles.

ALWAYS keep your LS on your toolbar if not always equipped.

dont be a hero, there is no shame in running.

p.s. glad my thread has helped you and thanx to all those that post here

OK here is the big question that we all want to know the answer to, we've got novice everything, maybe LS 0-0-1-0, what should we be hunting? I'm asking this generally because the other skills that we have, e.g. TKA/Fencer, etc, etc, do not actually effect the amount of Jedi XP recieved for the kill. So assuming that we all have enough force power to spam low-lvl specials to our heart's content, which mobs have the best HAM/XP ratio? (i.e. Does anything beat the noble Quenker?)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yavin is very nice for starting jedi. wild spawns have LOTS of critters in them and its generally sparsly populated (just dont go near geo caves)
99.5% of the critters dont DB, just got poison to worry about but you can avoid spiders.

I would say stay away from dath and endor as you will be spending ALOT of time there once you get higher in your LS.

try to get at least healing 1-1-0-0 asap ... will help alot.

Tamany:
Is there a way to avoid the bomb droids when you are in your house?

answer:
Yes! droid detection devices... those once useless decorations if you put them in fron of your door

Yes, you can buy (or be given) +15 LS tools, and use them with a high quality crafting station.  I built a safe house in a research center city with an experimentation bonus, and use my +45 station with my +15 tools, works very well.

/bumpage for a great post!

A few things:

1. To me, Feign Death is a must have, if you can't roll deep with other jedi's training alongside you. Get all 4 boxes in Dirty Fighting if possible. This is also nice to use in harvesting 64k+ lairs because you can tap a lair, FD, grab a drink, snack or whatever, kill mobs, rinse and repeat. It breaks up the boredom of grinding.

2. Keep your visibility to a minimum by traveling between mobs with your robe/saber unequipped just in case you come within range of other peeps/npc's.

3. If you roll into a battle and equip your robe and saber, make sure to unequip your comp helmet, gloves and psg before you start fighting. (thats happened to me a few times :smileytongue

4. Make friends with one or more BH's that has at least investigations 3 and ask them to check the boards for you once in a while.

5. If you fall in combat to a BH, never, ever resort to smack talking. Chances are good that you just lost to  someone who would enjoy nothing more than putting you into more xp loss and is extremely good at what they do. Once you have made a "name" for yourself, expect his/her guild to be on your ass for a long time. Respect goes a long ways.

6. Learn to take the good with the bad. Shake off the occasional death, learn from your mistakes and move on. Always be willing to share what you have learned with others.

7. Smile once in a while, its just a game!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some more advices:

1. Never wear ur saber, even closed unless hunting.Doesnt give visibility but anyone can just follow you and put you on terminals. Of course dont go over there with ur (Jedi N00b) title over ur head

2. Make ur char unsearcheable.

3. When hunting, while those boring moments, use the search button for bounty-hunters. Some dumbass BH wear their title and search goes around 1000m.

4. Docs are ur friends!! Or have a doc on ur alt account. He can go rez you and save GOOD xp.

5. Dont take unnecesary risks. If you think u have taken a lot of visibility dont grind more than 1 buff session, just log ur alt and go kill some NS/Krayts for your crystal needs

JediJamie:

I am a New Padawan (Unlocked after pub 9)

Here's how I hunt

I only wear my robe and bring out my LS when I am out in wilderness,

I Hot key my normal outfit incase anyone comes around I can pop it on real quick.

I hunt very close to a safe house... Somewere I can run and log out without being killed.

I group only with my pet so to get the Group bonus without getting vis points.

I hunt out of an old player city that is about to Poof (not sure were I am going after it does poof)
It's a less populated area.

I run as soon as I see ANYONE coming (even if its other jedi who ride by me)

I take my time and pace myself.. This is not a race this is a long road that I will finish in time...

Thank you all for the input Us new jedi need to help each other enjoy the game. On that note I have some questions on my own

I am master Doc master 2 hand Once I get initiate I will use my alt for master Doc and dancer musicina 4000 with +25 to mind/musician  edhance suit lucky me on getting that suit.
I need some direction on not only what to train but what is availible. I have seen some of the jedi trees but I wanted some more specific info. okay hers some ?s

--What is needed to get from initiate to padawan? You have to finish the padawan trials and poof you're padawan
--Are there skills u need first or is it just alot of xp? You have no skills at first only the robes and the training saber you constructed during the trials
--If xp how much. You need 20k jedi xps (that you will have to earn with your training saber) to start taking boxes like novice lightsaber.
--Once I get padawan is force run the first row? No, start with lightsaber first, combat is the only way to make jedi xp
--If so what novice tree is that in? It's in the enhance tree, but go with lightsaber first
--What should I do after force run1? Check answers above
--I heard healing ok what skills should I get b4 I start doing LS Same
--Once Im ready to get LS how should I work it? Double bladed for the area attack in the first box then you decide
-- Please let me know a good order to train I love knowing where to go on the road to jedi. Get lightsaber novice and all the beginning boxes at first if your template can spare the SP.

Thanks for all your help .may the force be with u

hope it helps

First off let me state that this is what works best for me, it might not for others.

I'm in a diffrent class when i come to how to gind jedi, but this is what works best for me.  I have channel force and this is a must for this kind of grind.  I'm 0143 on lightsaber.  I have lot of low speed pearls (for right now it 3  -.49 speed in a third gen).  I use the best speed crystals pearls I have, but you have to have all buffs, dance musicin, and doctors.  I have all my stats migrated to my mind.  Keep a lot of brandy on you and vercupti (this is a must it give you an around 800-1200 to health action and mind).  You'll need the vercupit if you get in trouble.  At my level I run giant baz nitch missions.  Back when i use my low force cost first gen saber I could bring in around 150K every 2 hours.  Now that I switched to a much faster 3 gen i can make any were from 250K to close to 300k in the same amount of time.

Some one said in a past post here that the ham regen was slow for channel force, they were wrong.  It's not that slow and regens a lot faster than your force pool.  You might have to channel force once per lair, but it will not take your ham down far enough to be a problem.  When you finish off the lair channel force till your force bar is about full and drive to your next mission.  By the time you get there your ham will be completly regened.  I went from taking about 400 bf down to about 100 because I kill them a lot faster, even though I kill 3 to 4 time as many creatures.

Like i said this is what works best for me, and just though that I would put it out there for others that it might work for also.

How does Jedi visibility work in regard to Bounty Hunter terminals?

Each of the following Jedi-relation actions has an associated Jedi Visibility Modifier:

 -Equipping a Lightsaber.

-Initiating Combat with a Lightsaber equipped.

-Using any Jedi-related skills that consume Force power.

All PCs and all non-animal NPCs that observe a Jedi performing any of the above stated actions (observed as defined as within 32 meters) will contribute to an increase in the Jedi's Visibility Value (JVV).

-An opposing faction member who views this action will add the full value of the action to the Jedi Visibility Value.

-A Neutral PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 50 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

-A same-faction PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 25 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

Being grouped with a PC or non-animal NPC who is viewing this action has no influence on how Jedi Visibility is obtained.

please add more if you think of them... this is just to help them start and get the right mindset in their heads. not meant to flame or put down in any way... i want them to know what they are getting into..

Please bump this and keep it up for more to see!

Ok a couple of urgent questions:

1) I have to grind to make LS Novice?  So be it.  But are any force or sabre specials I can use *at all* before Novice?
2) If not, can I buy a +15.0  LS crafting tool and crystal packs from other Jedi?  Are they tradeable?
3) When can I use my LDE crystals?  Past LS Novice I presume?

Other than using novice brawler specials like Warcry, I seem pretty fugged -- I need to get my LS better than it is, but I'm pretty sure I'm near the cap.  Any advice?

1) no i dont think so

2) yes you can

3) yes, once you make your first generation saber.

Just a question about BE clothes. What can you actually wear if you have your robe on?

no, the robe takes up all your clothing slots... you cant even wear a backpack with your robe on. just a belt.

I believe a shirt and a hat. Maybe gloves too.
As long as they are clothes.

And LS novice requires 20k Jedi XP.

clothing able to be worn with the jedi robe = gloves, hat and belt

no shirt

xp lose scales up as you get more jedi boxes so at novice lightsaber yer gonna only lose like 30k from cloning....another 30k if a BH deathblows you.....at for example xx4x of lightsaber you will lose 100k from cloning and 30k from BH so 130k total.
