Greetings all!

I have wanted to find some source like this one and I am not alone. I have had several people ask me “what does this (acronym) mean?”  And there a lot I don't know so I would like to start a guide to the forum and in-game acronyms and abreviations.  I welcome all contributors and I will try to keep the top message up to date.

The sole purpose of this thread is educational.  Any other value placed on it is the sole viewpoint of the reader.

I know some of these contain language that is against the EULA but I think in the interest of educating people about the web and its little idiosyncrasies maybe the powers to be will allow this thread.  If not at least I tried to help 

Feel free to offer corrections.  As I said there are many I don't know

 

A

• AA - Armor Attachment (Looted enhancement to place in slots on armor. NGE eliminated their usability except for a few)
• AFK - Away From Keyboard
• Aggro - Means to Aggravate result is MOB attacks you
• AOE - Area of Effect
• AS - ArmorSmith
• ASL - Acid Stream Launcher
• ATK - At The Keyboard
• ATM - At The Moment

 

B

• BARC - Biker Advanced Recon Commandos
• BBL - Be Back Later
• BD - base damage (the first of the two damage numbers on a weapon)
• BER - Base Extraction Rate (refers to mining equipment)
• BE - Bio-Engineer
• BF - Battle Fatigue (removed before the CU)
• BG - Barely glowing (refers to the quality of a cube item)
• BH - Bounty Hunter
• BL - Binary Liquid (used to make Mandolorian armor)
• BN! - Be Nice (A warning used when someone is using inapproiate tone or words.
• BO - Buy Out Price
• BR - Burst run
• BRB - Be Right Back <> BathRoom Break
• BRT - Be right there
• BS - BlackSuns
• BSC - Blackscale compound
• BT - Bank Tip
• BTW - By the way
• Buff - A temporary increase of a stat (not sure where it came from)
• /Bump - Typed in forum message body as a means to keep the thread listed at the top of the main page of the forum.

C

• CA - Clothing Attachment ((Looted enhancement to place in slots on clothing. NGE eliminated their usability except for a few)
• Carebear squad - Usually a gank squad looking to kill a grieving gank squad
• Carpet - A wookiee (or “Walking Carpet”)
• CB - Combat Balance
• CF - Combat Fatigue
• CH - Creature Handler
• Clown Patrol - group of players running around in fully looted armor pieces.
• CMN - Cry More N00b
• CD - conductivity
• CNET - Coronet, Corellia
• Cool down - Associated with special attacks and weapons, the time-delay where a special attack or weapon cannot be fired after it has previously been fired.
• CS - Cloning Sickness
• CSR - Customer Service Representative
• CON - Consider (shows on radar)
• CPU - Credits Per Unit
• CR - Cold Resistance
• CUBE - refers to the Dar-gon-jar (sp?) cube used to craft items from glowing items.
• CUL8R - I will See you Later
• CU - Combat Upgrade

D

• DA - Droid Army
• Dant - Dantooine
• Dath - Dathomir
• DaVinci Pose - Bug that causes you character to be displayed like the Leonardo DaVinci medical drawing of a man (arms straight and spread out to the sides and legs straight and spread both not movable).
• DB - Deathblow
• DE - Droid Engineer
• DEV - Developers
• DF1 - Droid Factory One (Re-activating the Droid Factory on the HK-47 quest)
• DF2 - Droid Factory Two (Destroying the Droid Factory on the HK-47 quest)
• DG - Dimly glowing (refers to the quality of a cube item)
• DOT - Damage Over Time
• DJG - Dark Jedi Guardian
• DJK - Dark Jedi Knight DJM - Dark Jedi Master
• DOC - Doctor prior to NGE (Medic now )
• DPS - Damage Per Second
• DR - Decay Resistance
• DS - Dark Side
• DWB - Death Watch Bunker (A  dungeon on Endor)

E

• ED - Elemental Damage (acid, cold, heat, electricity)
• EN - Energy a type of damage
• EPS - Energy Per Shot (space weapons)
• ER - Entangle Resistance
• EULA - End User License Agreement
• EX - Tuskan Executioner

 

F

• FAC - Faction (Rebel or Imperial or Neutral)
• FG - Faintly glowing (refers to the quality of a cube item)
• Footprint - The amount of space a player structure takes up on the terrain map
• FL - Flavor
• Flintstones bug - The bug that displays a characters feet running underneath their vehicle
• FRS - Force Ranking System (pre-NGE)
• Fly Text - the words or numbers that appear over the players heads such as damage indicators
• FR - Force run
• FS - Force sensitive  
• FT - Flamethrower
• FTL - For the Loss
• FTW - For the Win (used to describe an action or comment as being the decisive element of a conflict)

G

• Gank squad - Group of people looking to fight other groups with  far fewer people in them
• GC - groupchat, sometimes used as guildchat
• GCC - Galactic Civil Conflict
• GCW - Galactic Civil War
• GDK - Giant Dune Kimogila (Large lizard-like creature on  Lok)
• GK - Gurk King
• GL - Guild Leader
• Glowie - use to refer to the point when someone became FS by doing a set number of missions or tasks. Now refers to the items used to craft in the CUBE.
• g2g - got to go
• Griefing - The act of hurting other players in a vengeful way. Or singling out a player or group of players and “picking” on them for a particular reason.
• Griever - Someone who commits the act of griefing.
• Grind - The act of repeatedly killing lot's of  MOB's (combat professions) or  crafting the same items (crafters) over long periods of time to un-naturally gain skill levels for your character. 
• G2CU - Good to See you

 H

• HAM - Health Action Mind (still called HAM even though Mind is no longer in game)
• HAHA - Meaning simulating laughing
• HAR - Heavy Acid Rifle
• HK - HK-47 central volcano quest on Mustafar
• HK-47 - (Not sure what HK stands for ) boss level MOB on Mustafar
• HR - Heat Resistance
• HPBC - Heavy Particle Beam Cannon
• Hitbox - The area surrounding an attackable object that will register as a “hit”, when fired on.

I

• IGN - In-game Name
• IMO - In my opinion or
• IMHO - In my humble opinion
• IBL - In Before Lock (refers to the fact that the poster thinks the OP will be Locked by the moderator)
• IBD - In Before Deletion (refers to the fact that the poster thinks the OP will be Deleted by the moderator)
• Incap - Incapacitation (Where your avatar becomes immobilized and vulnerable to being killed.)

J

• JK - Just Kidding
• JTL - Jump to Lightspeed expansion

 

K

• KASH - Kashyyk
• KD - Kryat Dragons (One of the biggest creatures in the game found on Tatooine)<> Knock Down (special attack prior to NGE)
• Kite - To evade your attacker by running around to be harder to hit and take less damage.  Also useful for drawing one MOB out of a group to make it easier to kill
• KIN - Kinetic a type of damage
• kk - OK <> Allright (Originated in EvrQuest Online  players had to press K  to bring up the chat menu and then k again to say ok)
• KS - Kill Stealer (Refers to unscrupulous players who wait for another player to render a MOB half dead and then move in to take the kill.  This is frowned upon heavily and if done by accident should be followed by an immediate apology.) 
• 1k - 1 Kilo (meaning multiplied by 1,000. The 1 can be any number)

L

• LA - Lucas Arts
• L8R - Later LBC: Heavy Lightning Beam Cannon (also the HLBC)
• LC - Lava Cannon
• LEI - Looted Enhancement Item
• L33t - elite (meaning very good / above normal yes you need 2 3's)
• LFG - Looking For Group
• Lizard - Slur for Trandoshan
• LMAO - Laugh My A$$ Off
• LOS - Line of Sight
• LOL - Laugh out Loud
• LP - Launcher Pistol
• LS - Light Side (of the force) <> Light Saber
• LTB - Looking To Buy
• LTS - Looking To Sell
• LTT - Looking To Trade
• LU - "Look up" means to inform the viewer to read up further in messages that were post just prior to that one and are now listed above it in the Chat tab.
• LVL - Level

• MAS - Master Armor Smith (Profession eliminated by the NGE)
• MBE - Master Bio-Engineer (Profession eliminated by the NGE)
• MD - Maximum damage (the second of the two damage numbers on a weapon)
• Min - Minimum Bid
• MSW - Master Shipwright (Profession eliminated by the NGE)
• MCH - Master Creature Handler (Profession eliminated by the NGE)
• MDE - Master Droid Engineer (Profession eliminated by the NGE)
• Mill - Million
• MA - Malleability
• MO - Mining Outpost (Dantooine)
• MOB - Mobile OBject, (Technical form of enemy creature / NPC)
• MP - My Pleasure
• MWS - Master WeaponSmith

N

• NE1ON - Short for Anyone On?  (Think license plate lingo)
• Nerf - To reduce the power or effectiveness of an item, weapon, or skill.  (Term comes from the differences in "real" sports equipment and their NERF sponge toy reproductions.)
• Newb - is not meant to be offensive. newb merely states that the person in question is new to the game/board/whatever.  (Different than Noob)
• NSEL - Nightsister Energy Lance
• NGE - New Game Enhancements (Publish designed to attract a new player base.  Had the side affect of driving away the majority of the existing player base.)
• NK - Necroiss a boss level MOB on kashyyyk
• Noob - is meant as an offensive term towards someone who is not nessicarily new, and quite often is directed at someone that is |somewhat| experienced but at the same time acts stupid/disruptive and/or seems to be totally incapable of learning. A noob is almost always someone who thinks they're cool but obviously aren't. Also used in 1337speak.<> n00b, nub, ch00b, n00bo, n00blet
• NP - no problem
• NPC - Non Player Character
• NS - Nightsisters

O

• ODF - Old Droid Factory
• OIC - Oh I See <> o i c
• OL - Overlord of the Deathwatch bunker
• OMG - Oh My God
• OMFG - Oh My F***ing God
• OMW - On My Way <>  Oh My Word (rarely used)
• OP - Original Post
• OQ - Overall Quality OQ - Overall Quality

P

• Particle Effect - Animation from a weapon or ability (a flamethrower’s flames or a jedi’s lightning or the glow from a medics heal)
• PC - Price Check
• PE - Potential Energy
• PH - Place Holder, is a specific mob that when killed will spawn another mob, often is the case with Bosses.
• POI - Point of Intrest
• POS - Piece of **edit**
• PFT - Plasma Flamethrower
• Phase - Timeframe that regulated which quests were available at the jedi village before NGE
• PL - Protective Layer
• PLC - Protective layer coating (used to make Mandolorian armor)
• POB - Portible OBject (official)    Player On Board (slang)
• PostCU - Posterior (after) Combat Upgrade
• PreCU - Prefacing (before) Combat Upgrade
• PROC - Short for Procedural (means a player has taken an action, such as use a special move or a weapon has fired off a built-in, random special attack )
• Pull - To cause one Mob to leave a group of Mobs and agro you for the purpose of not casuing all the mobs to agro you. usually done with a ranged weapon at a distance.
• PVE - Player vs Environment (meaning combat with Npc's or creatures)
• PVP - Player vs Player (meaning ingame players in combat)
• PWND -    Common typo for the word Owned (Actually if you go to this site you can find 3 pages of different defs for it)

 

Q

• QFE - Quoted For Emphasis
• QID - Quantum Ion Drive, reward from nyms starmap quest

R

• RE -  Reverse Engineer (Shipwright ability)
• Red-Name -  Color of a forum name belonging to one of the Game Developers
• REZ - Resurrection (sp?) meaning someone with the ability to resurrect can bring you back to life after you have been killed by a player or mob.
• RL -  Real Life <> Rocket Launcher (depending on usage)
• RO - Rebel Outpost (Rori)
• ROFL - Rolling on the Floor Laughing
• ROTW -  Rage of the Wookies expansion
• RP - roleplay/roleplaying, meaning pretending to be another person with the intent of others doing the same and interacting with you.
• RR - Recharge Rate (shields/capacitors) <> Re-fire Rate (weapons)
• Rubberbanding - The act of “being ahead of the server” where, client side, you’re at one point but the server thinks you’re still at a point you previously were, and warps you back to that point.

S

• SB - Saber Block (Jedi defensive special)
• SBD - Super Battle Droids
• SEA - Skill Enhancing Attachment (pre-NGE)
• SR - Shock Resistance
• SK - Sher Kar (Boss level MOB on Mustafar)
• SL - Squad Leader
• SMC - Singing Mountain Clan
• Snipe - The act of sniping, means to attack from far away with a gun or other ranged weapon (in-game)  <> Person who waits to bid on an auction until right before the auction time expires in an attempt to "steal" the bid. 
• SOE - Sony Online Entertainment
• Sp - Spelling (Meaning I am not sure how that is spelled) 
• Spawn - the appearance of mobs, or sometimes refers to the location of the appearance of mobs
• Static Spawn - MOBs that appear in the same place every time usually at set intervals or when the Place Holder is killed.
• Stim - Short for Stimulator Pharmacutial, means medication or attribute buff
• SUB - Subscriptions
• SW - Shipwright (pre-NGE, also Star Wars)
• SWG - Star Wars Galaxies

• Tat - Tatooine  
• TC - Test Center TKM: Teris Kasi Master (pre-NGE)
• TEH - Very common typo for the word "The"
• TEF - Temporary Enemy Flag (pre-NGE)
• Tell - to send a private message to another player using
• TFN - Trade Forums Noob
• TH - Kurt "Thunderheart" Stangl Community Relations Manager (SOE) for SWG
• TKM - Teris Kasi Master (Eliminated by the NGE)
• TOOW - Trials of Obi-Wan expansion
• TS - Teamspeak (A voice over IP solution that some guilds use in conjunction with ingame chat.)
• T2T - Toe to Toe (refers to a combat skill where you stay close to a ranged fighter because your melee)

• Uber - Uber, the German word for above or over, has been adopted by English-speakers as a prefix meaning super or ultra  (The word is a link if you don't believe me hehe)
• Unlock - Meaning when you first aquired (unlocked) your jedi character slot. Before NGE this was only way to have 2 characters on same server.
• UT - Unit Toughness

• vette - Corevette
• Vent -  Ventrillo  (A voice over IP solution that some guilds use in conjunction with in-game chat.)
• vet - Vetern
• “The Village” - Location on Dathomir where you do quests to become a Jedi (Eliminated by the NGE)
