Thanks for supporting the cause! I have my own opinions of the NGE but I am not at liberty to express them.

Thats like saying there should never be a sandbox type game...
Thats been tried and found being wanted back...

There is an instructive lesson in this, which I believe will be reflected upon by MMO companies long into the future. They will take seriously the importance of their already existing community, and should put their desires over that of a mythical “silent majority.”

And another point... There can be a alpha class in games and in life... there just has to be things in place to keep it in check.
Although this would refer to a SIM type game... which as I can tell you seem to not know anything about anymore.
There is somthing to be said for the older version of this game.. it was ahead of it's time that is for sure..
Checks and Balances can always make things even... you just have to know how to add them.

Helios at this point... I have to wonder while you seem to be concearned now about things... and more so then ever (I always have to wonder SINCE your so damn vocal now)
Where in the Hell were you when we needed Devs, when we had ideas and yet we never saw one thing posted from you people.
I have to wonder now just how much value your words have since you seemed to be absent here for the first 2.8 years only to show up for the defense of the NGE..
You of all people should have been posting about 6 months ago things along the lines of "Hey we are going to be pushing you into a new combat system" , Instead of 6 months later posting crap about your views on how a Alpha class in a multiplayer game should not exsist. It did just fine and with things in place to make it worthy of that it did work.
You say Alpha classes in a multiplayer game can't work..
I say Devs that lie and misslead thier loyal fanbase SHOULD Not be able to work.... period.
Am I lying? Did I promise you anything? No-- sir you promised me and us.... do NOT forget that.

Because
the NGE is failing miserably... It's not that i don't hate the NGE, I
do, but there's nothing I can do about it now. The CU was so long
ago....

What of destroying the ideal of Jedi from the movies? Should that ever happen? Should it ever happen that some players spent over a year (perhaps even longer) to get to that 'found wanting' thing, and have it taken away. I never wanted to be Ub3r, but I fail to see how reducing Jedi to such a mundane level is either 'Star Warsy' or 'Iconic".
alpha referring to the beginning of the alphabet, would indicate at the beginning, therefore making jedi an alpha class would be making them a starting class. alpha as it refers to animals such as monkeys indicates them as the first, number one or leader, though in most circumstances this would make them the most powerful, that isn't the intended meaning of alpha.
an exceptionally more powerful class would be better better termed the omega class. The end all, or final class.
and personally I don't like my profession being grouped with terminology for monkeys.

The status of the alpha is generally achieved by means of superior physical prowess. However, in certain highly social species such as the bonobo, a contender can use more indirect methods, such as political alliances, to oust the ruling alpha and take his/her place.

Alpha, both as a symbol and term, is used to refer to or describe a variety of things, including the first or most significant occurrence of something.
