Don't launch if it will take a few weeks "to get bugs out". I paid my $79 now, if the games not ready don't burst my bubble.

Sorry dude.

An MMO is an MMO whether you recognize it or not.

Multiplayer games are far more complex than regular games and launches like this reflect the complications that may arise. I'm a seasoned MMORPG gamer and I've yet to experience a completely problem free launch (DAOC is the closest but even that had it's share of problems). Now I'm not putting you down man, I just hope that you'll give the game a bit more time before you return it or whatever it is you'll do.

Now i'm no fanboi, my patience has it's limits. I'll give this SWG at most 2 weeks to get it's act together but honestly I think it is premature to rant about the game on it's first day of release.

I was a little disappointed with the Art book as well...I was hoping it would be hard cover like they advertised...but oh well.  It's not a BIG deal, but I just prefer hard cover books.  Heh.

Anyways, this is day one people.  Ground Zero.  You can't expect it to be 100% on day one.  Hell, DAoC had a "good" lauch, but even then, it had snags.  I remember disconencting from the server 27 times on launch day!  Thats considered a good launch.  So calm down people.  it will be resolved.  You think the devleopers don't know things are **bleep**ed up right now?  Shut up, and let these guys work.  They will fix it.  You complaining like you are won't speed things up any.

No thank you.  YOU may expect delays, but casual gamers don't.  I was in beta and I dealt with lots of game breaking delays.. like getting disconnected every ten minutes plus five minutes to log back in.  I have patience and I have maturity.  What part of my issues is 'immature'?

I thought I already explained clearly the difference between being a beta tester and a paying customer.  That's all that matters in the end and this game is 'geared' towards people like me who won't accept this.  I have a little more patience, but not much.

Aramusha, I completely disagree with you and completely support the original poster of this thread. I'm NOT a seasoned MMO player, and I don't care about past launches. LucasArts and Sony listed this game as being a finished product and launched it on the 26th. They didn't ship with a disclaimer stating that we had to "give them time to iron things out" or "understand what goes in to making this game". The fact is, I just spend $80 for something that was advertised as being playable on the 26th, but wasn't. That's all that matters.

All of the great things that the devs DID get right (and I know there's a lot, I was a beta tester as well) are irrelevent. In beta we expect problems -- it's beta. Finished products should not have those types of issues. I just spend $80 on something that does not currently work. I was not told of this, I was not warned in advance.

Respect = gone.

It is a big deal to some people like me who only bought the collectors edition based upon that false advertising.  A customer service rep told me to take it up with the retailer and the distributor and then logged off.   They ARE the distributor... or at least close enough.   They are selling a game advertising false contents. Going by the box, you don't get what you paid for... and my store doesn't take back opened boxes/cd's.

If it was going to be a paperback edition that is fine.  But don't advertise it as a hardbound when it isn't.  Paperback run about 6.99 and hardbound 20 plus.

To me, the CE wasn't worth it.  I wanted a coffee table book I could display with pride (that would be semi-durable), but all i got was a 'magazine' like cosmo.

I totally agree with you.

Untill we as a gamming community do something to stop this, it will continue to happen.

All these people saying "just give it a few weeks", that is BS.

I didnt pay $80 to play in a few weeks, I paid to play NOW. (as was advertised).

I am sick of game companies doing this.

I will tell you now, I AM going to talk to my lawyer tommrow, and see if ANYTHING can be done. If he says no, then I will take my case to the gamming community.

If he says yes, send me some PM if you are interested.

Sony, this is just unaccetable.

We all have our reasons for wanting to be HERE on day one, from the very beginning. Those reasons speak to what the Devs have done right, the reasons why we believe that one day it will be important to be able to state that we were here on DAY ONE. Those reasons far outweigh a few technical difficulties.

Yeah we're dissapointed, but for one second do you really believe the Devs wanted any of this to happen? They poured the last 3 to 4 years of their life into this project, and I guarantee you that launch day is something that they have been dreaming about. The ooohs and aaahs and raw excitement of the players who are living IN the Star Wars universe for the very first time. Its the moment they've looked forward to, and the opening day experience they wanted to deliver. The experience that blew everyone, including their critics, away.

Now because of a few obscure issues that never came up in a beta test in which they included over 65000 testers all of that has been put on hold, not to mention their families and personal lives being placed on hold as many of them work straight through the evening and late into the night. They're the ones burning the midnight oil trying to make all of this work, and not because they'll get a huge raise out of it or because their salaries truly cover working straight through the night on a project. Its because they're proud of this game, and I think they have every right to be.

Did this launch cost me my respect for the employees of SOE? Not in the least.

Ohh please... you are not going to sue anyone over anything.  Try READING your EULA for once.  It clearly states (paraphrasing here) that there are no uptime guarentees about when and how much you might be able to play the game in a given amount of time.

Its day 1.  Take a deep breath and relax.

How ironic DingoBoi.

You lost my respect a long time ago with your posts.

Now your up to your typical tolling because this game didnt launch as planned.

Weep me a river.

Im as frustrated as you are, but do you see me whineing? Heck no.

Tell you what, delete the frigging game from your HD and cancel your account. And dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

We dont need whiners in this game.

Everyone who is making a big deal about this should really think about what they're saying first.  Do you think anyone wanted any of this?  I'm not too happy about what happened because I really wanted to play but theres no reason saying your going to talk to a lawyer about it.  Things break.  This isn't like a normal game where you install it on your PC and your good to go.  Servers arn't used to having tens of thousands of people trying to log on at once.  Things will be better tomorrow and even better the next day.

You can't say no one cares either.  Look who the first person to reply to this post was.  They do care about this.  It isn't like they're sitting around saying "Hey, maybe we should go over there and try to fix that...nahh we'll just let the people wait."  Give it a few days and it will improve drastically.  There are always things you won't find out on beta.  I would bet you even if they didn't release it for another month this would still have happened.  Don't get too worked up over it.  You arn't losing one of the days for your free month.  Just think of it as it was released tomorrow and let it go.  The game you paid $80 isn't going to go anywhere...it'll still be there when the servers are up.  If you still can't stand it take your game back and don't play the game.  It will save many people many headaches.

If you read it carefully, the EULA also states you may never be able to play they game.  That won't stand up in court.  (not saying it will be unplayable forever, but that is a fact).

I think that sums a lot of our feelings up. Yet I only payed 53 dollars on the game :-). I got lucky. I don't need goggles or an art book that would take up shelve/desk space heh... I was a beta tester too. And I understand these problems so I happen to not be angry at all. I just play other games untill it's fixed. At least were not getting charged for it... :-) Look at how late the Dev's have to stay up tonight...
