In an infinite universe, anything is possible, even talking matresses that enjoy pudding
So lets see, FS slots unavailable right now? Sure, possible. Likely? I don't know, don't ask me, would you play this game if you knew you could NEVER become a jedi? It's possible most of the current populace would refuse to pay per month for this game if they didn't have that availability. So would SOE ever tell you that you couldn't become a Jedi? Not likely. Would SOE lie to make money? Maybe, but not over the Jedi character class, it's just as easy to put in the game as a Brawler or an Artisan.
I feel that the FS slot is more than able to be unlocked, but if you have an idea of unlocking your FS slot in the next couple of months, I doubt you'll be successful. Patience is the Jedi's greatest quality.

Nobody has unlocked a Jedi slot yet, the code to do so is all in place (in fact, one day we DID have a bug where someone got the message in error! Oops), and at the rate that people are going, I expect it to be at least two more months before anyone gets there.

Holo, if you read this, could you tell us if anyone has even begun the path towards unlocking the slot? (If such a thing exists.) From your post is sounds like people are making progress. I understand if you can't answer. =P
Actually, in beta, when we all complained about not being able to test jedi's, they told us that the code was still being worked on, and since no one would actualy unlock the fs slot for a few months, that it would not be completed for launch.
Specificaly: The code to unlock the fs slot would be there (but for whatever reason require a number of months of play to unlick), but the actual code for the Jedi themselves is not in there (there may be gm/csr jedis, but the actual skill set/etc was not done for release)
Thanks for the post holo, you guys are truly doing a superb job on this game. I quit readin the disscusion boards, they are full of a bunch of flaming idiots that get too impatient because of few bugs.
As for the jedi thing...I wonder if force lighting really sounds like it does in to movies or if its just a really cool looking picture, or if its even in the game. Thats the first question that I'm gona ask the guy who makes jedi.
*thinks of a funny story to tell at the bar*--Yeah, so this thug came up to steve and was like "wheres the bathroom" and steve game him a look. So the guy gives steve a weird lok....and steve just *Bleep*ing shocked him.....
And whats up with vader? he kills like 19 of his best men in SW:ANH, SW:TESB, and SW:ROTJ using grip. general veers didn't need to die, he led the attack on the rebel base. Yeah he let him get away but he didn't need to die (or did veers even die?? I'm so confused, thats what killing off your own men does to your watchers.....). See thats why the rebels really won, cause vader killed off his good men. Yeah they made a few tactical errors, but killing one of your best generals then walking up to the first guy you see on the death star (could even be a plumber or a mechanic, someone that hasn't even seen a blaster before in his life) and making him your top ranking general doesn't win the wars.....

Very interesting. Sounds like another "piece to the Jedi puzzle". Pre-release, the devs said that anybody and everybody had the same potential to unlock Jedi. That was a major point. Now . . . there's something about a "rate" of attaining it. Hmmm.
Sounds to me like power gaming might come in handy after all.

Wow Holo... you can bet I'd be pissed now if I was that guy! He better have gotten a lot of credits or something, heh.
Thanks for the info.

From everything I've read since early Beta 3 (on the Beta boards, not the public ones), it's going to be a long involved process. Something not doable in the first few months, let alone weeks. Not sure if it was based in speculation, but I had also read that there is no single process. The process (the "gates", if you will) are defined during character generation and are unique for each character. So, me telling you how I did it (if I had) won't do a thing for you. It was intended to be rare, and I'm betting it will be.
I'm going to take a guess but I would imagine it would involve doing a lot of NPC quests and gaining lots of faction with various NPC's be it good or bad NPC's depending on what you declaired... Their are so many things that you can do outside the Mission terminals it's crazy... And that would take a very very long time... I'm not in to much of a hurry to get a FS character... i would probably just end up getting killed and then being majorly bummed....
I wonder what it involves though. I mean theme parks require combat people and therefore exclude pure crafters. I hope the FS slot unlocking isnt gimped in a similar way, e.g. requiring lots of combat.

Well first of all there not being Jedi code in place is pretty moot for reasons already stated in this thread.
And probably if you did manage to unlock your FS slot you probably would have no idea how you managed to do it in the first place, at best you'd know what your last action was, and like you clearly pointed out, its different for every character.
There's a lot of variety in the current set of character skills and a lot that you can play around with, and you don't need to be a Jedi to have fun in this game, you might find that you have just as much fun hunting Jedi, honestly the extra risk of getting killed in one hit adds a certain thrill to it.
