Using AT-STs to kill durnis seems like a waste of Imperial resources. We're thinking of limiting the use of faction perk gear to actual faction fighting.
The way it is right now gets you crazy stuff like people using AT-STs to hunt kimogilas instead of rebels. It undermines the SW aspect of it all. It drives the PvEers crazy because it's a huge boost up in PvE, so then they want something competitive, when that's really not what it's for...
Can anyone think of any good reasons why you should be able to use faction perk hirelings/pets against targets that are not PvP enemies?

Talk about misuse of military resources! Do you think the US Army would allow soldiers to take an M1-A2 Abrams with them into the field to hunt elephant?
This is a GREAT idea!

Praise the Force, I think I'm going to die from shock. Holo, this is the best idea I have heard yet.
I'm a Rebel, and to tell you the truth, the adrenaline rush from looking up the barrel of a big stomping AT-ST is the coolest. But seeing one zap Banthas? Absolutely disgusting.
/agree completely with you holo. i cannot see any reason to give an AT-ST for anything other than factional fighting. not unless you give rebels something comparative and let them use it to hunt kimos/kryats. i've been on kryat hunts and every single time i have, someone with 2-3 ATs comes and takes the kill solo with a rifle. not exactly faction balancing in the least seeing as how the thing eats a marine in a couple chomps...
I would also agree that Faction equipment should pnly be used for Faction business.
On the other hand... If you were grouped with several Stormtroopers and your group was attacked by dangerous creatures enroute to a mission goal, wouldn't the STs be obliged to help out in order to further the mission?

No. In fact, its rather silly.
But people will indeed cry. "If you can use the flame thrower against a graul, why can't I use my AT ST against one?" And there is logic to this argument. Plus, I do tbhink it is appropriate to use all your faction firepower when running faction destroy missions against enemy bases. My creature pets help me on those, I don't see why faction pets shouldn't help you assault a small imperial camp.
*shrug* Tough call. Perhaps there are more important things to worry about at this stage of development.
One question Holo, when you say "gear", I hope you are not referring to the armor and weapons we can get from the faction. They should be able to be used anytime
I was just thinking about this today. If you can solo a Krayt with a AT-ST, there is something wrong. Makes sense that they wouldn't be attacking stuff like that. I would say that it's much needed.
Now if we could just get some worthwhile faction perks as Rebels, we would be all set.
Excellent, Holo. This would be a tremendous improvement.
The only thing I see you want to think about is the following. You may wish to have a faction pet datapad limit independent of a non-faction pet limit as some people using this now may have a legitimate complaint that they can't have a rock beetle if they're maxed on stormtroopers.
So does this mean you'll be taking away the ability to wear ST armor unless your actually fighting rebels. I mean after all the US army wouldnt want you wearing their best armor when you go out deer hunting.
