Hi everyone. Sincere apologies for the confusion on this issue. Both Grant and I have been reading this thread and have heard all of your concerns and questions…and I’d like to officially clear up this issue now.
At the LA event I asked the attendees whether or not they wanted the painting to be tradable. The response was overwhelmingly in favor of the idea, so I committed to making this happen for the players. At the time, I thought it would be a simple change, but unfortunately, that just isn’t the case.
Once we investigated the issue, we realized that it would take a significant chunk out of our engineers’ time and energy to make the painting tradable. That’s time and energy that we would much rather put toward bigger fixes.
As we discussed in the community summits, we’re working on a ton of improvements and new content right now, most of which stemmed from your feedback. Improvements to the combat system, retooling of professions, additions of mid-to-high level content, and (of course) bug fixes are our primary focus right now, and we’ll be devoting all our engineering resources to bring these enhancements to you guys as soon as we possibly can.
We did hear you though, and I can assure you that the next time we’re able to offer an in-game item as a reward for attending an event we will consider making it tradable. However, in this case and for the series of summits for this year, we are leaving the paintings not tradable as originally stated when we announced the community summits.
Again, thanks for coming and for sharing your thoughts on our plans.
