It feels a little strange introducing myself, as I've been working on SWG in various design roles for the past 5 years.

But my sporadic posting habits probably mean that a lot of you don't recognize me. I received a PM just recently from a positively ancient player asking me who I was.

I definitely need to post more.

I started on SWG as a world-builder back in 2001. Since then I've moved on to systems design and implementation, did a stint as Content Lead for Jump to Lightspeed and the Rage of the Wookiees expansion, then Live Systems Lead during the development of Trials of Obi-Wan.

These days I am Lead Game Play Designer, which so far has been an awful lot like being a Systems Lead, with a little broader purview.

Just as Chris Cao described here, "Expect to see designers responsible for quests, items, characters, special abilities and general systems to engage you on the specifics of those topics".

So, Here I am!

Brace yourselves for more designers whose names you might not recognize introducing themselves, and then following-up to address any specific concerns you might have. Naturally, we won't be able to respond to every post, but be assured there will definitely be a lot more dev's eyes on your feedback.

Hello J

So any timetable for when the rest of the quests in the game get XP?

Excellent!!! I would love to see better communication on Specific issues!!

- When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

So Jeff, what are your duties at work? Do you oversee combat, quest, and trader departments? Or? I'm just curious, your title sounds like a rather daunting one to have bestowed on you.

Yeah, I remember you.

No more profession revamps eh?

Where's all this development you said the Smugglers both needed and deserved?

When are you gonna stop BSing us.

You ARE NOT new. There are plenty of us around here who remember the crap you have spewed at us in the past. If you can't tell, I don't particularly like you because you, just like the others have lied to the Smuggler community and then crapped on us some more.

So you get the same question, although without the kind welcome:

WHEN WILL SMUGGLERS GET TO SMUGGLE?

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114
