I posted in the forums the other week how I want to see droids as something you keep by your side all the time.  R2-D2 never got stored when Luke or Anakin went into battle, he served a role as a valid part of the team (not as a combat or medical droid).

Droids need the R2-D2 experience not the R5-D4 experience!

This is why we don't believe you when you say "we put up polls, get feedback, and do focus tests."

We have said over and over WE DO NOT WANT TO BE BARDS.

We want to be useful in aspects of the game beyond cantinas.

But we do NOT WANT TO BE BARDS.

Do me a favor and look at the Mos Eisley New Player Quest series for Entertainers. It was amazing, and we were told it would pave the path to Entertainer interaction in the GCW.

It didn't happen.

Do that.

Do you really think we want to be bards? There are Officers for that. How Star Warsy are bards?

What are the chances of getting some of the older quests, such as the Nightsister quests and the Hero Of Tattooine quest fixed? The Hero quest is one that many players have sunk many hours into completing and gets almost no attention. It has been broken for a long time.

First I'd like to say this post is great. Now I'd like to say that the CSR's need a large overhaul. They really need more training and understanding of the game. They are one of the problems with the game.

Other things that I was going to mention have already been said, so I won't repeat them. Thanks.

3.) Why the switcheroo from FanFest showing a capitol ship under control to saying no plans, couldn't this be "free" content?

4.) Why were Characters given 10 more levels and high-end creatures not, this makes reason of why the game is too easy now?

5.) Where are the mounted unicorns in publish 29?

You're out of time, SOE The whole 2.5 months shouldn't have been. The game was fine up until Nov 15th. If the CU was worked on, instead of devoting time to the NGE (including the many months prior to November), the game could possibly be totally bug free by now.

My account cancels on 2nd Feb, which was a waste as only played game for 1 day to get the life day gifts, will be resubbing when creature handler, Bio-engineer, scout, and ranger return, oh and the FS village.

ask the dev team if you think I'm just agreeing to be agreeable on this point. They have valid points too - there are a ton of things that need work and making a viable pet system with the style of combat we have now is difficult and will need some thinking through.

Smed

Let the pets attack targeted NPCs like the NPCs attack.  Since the pets are semi intelegent (we did train them) they will stay on that target till called away or retargeted.   If the pet is sent against a PC then the pet STILL attacks as an NPC would.

you speak of problems with droids due to the problem of pets in this combat system...but most droids werent for ground combat.  There should be a way to incorporate the need (maybe not need cause not everyone used droids) but the benefit of using dorids in certain activities.

I'll agree with you here.  Droids are a key part of the SW fantasy.  But droid engineers are not.  What we should've done was implement droids as a player race and really give players the opportunity to experience them as part of the game.  I know this may be misunderstood so let me be clear:  we're not adding droids as a playable race.  In the grand scope of things, however, it's as you said.  We missed the boat on them.

We're going to keep looking for ways we can build on what we do have in SWG that meets the SW adventure criteria.

KO

Who do you think makes the droids? You think they built themselves in the movies? Just because Anakin made one as a little kid doesn't mean that's how they were made. Droid Engineers were IMPLIED. Try looking that word up..not everything in this damn game has to have been shown prominently on the stupid big screen!

"Droid Engineers were IMPLIED. "

We're going to focus on the roles that were defined first, the roles that were clearly represented and important to the stories told.  Again, this isn't an issue of what could potentially be put in a SW game.  The SW universe is just too large and robust to represent in a single game.

This is an issue of priorities and direction.  And, in SWG, the nine iconic roles we've identified come first.

Howdy again,

There's a lot of discussion going on and I wanted to jump-in at a more basic level to address the themes I see repeated again and again on this thread:

  • 'Star Warsy' Game: I think this is the principle issue driving all of the furor surrounding SWG. I'll be honest, SWG wasn't launched as a Star Wars game first and foremost. Instead, other priorities such as crafting, vast world space, non-SW activities (e.g. Entertaining) and player-created activities were pushed ahead of the essential SW adventure. The people who wanted an online SW adventure tried it out and left. The people who liked the sandbox nature and deep crafting game stayed. But the general direction of JtL, CU, and the NGE were aimed at adventure. Why? Because we wanted to shift the game to first and foremost be about SW adventure.

Yes. The Entertainer in the movie got eaten.

Note that we're also revamping those features that players find fun but that may not clearly be iconic SW activities. In Publish 28, we start to adapt Entertainers.

Message Edited by ChrisCao on 03-24-200602:33 PM

Yes of course that wasn't a cantina in Episode IV where they meet up with Han.

That also wasn't Entertainers playing songs and dancing for Jabba in VI.

And they didn't chase a bounty hunter into a cantina(club) with music and dancing in Episode II.(as well as gambling)

And Nooo those weren't entertainers performing for Palpatine while he tells Anakin the story of how he killed his master.

Noooo Entertainers aren't Star Warsy. Cause there was only the one that got eaten. Pfft

At least now we know why we get screwed so often.

By your logic, everything that was included as a setting element in the movies should be a profession.  Every character who was in the background, every potential action taking place in view, everything that was in the movie should be a role in the game.

I disagree.  I think the focus of the movie was on a set of heroic characters who had likewise heroic professions.  Sure, there were interesting support characters and we've expanded on that fiction to include Traders, Medics and Entertainers in our game.  Like I've said, if players have fun playing them, we're going to support them.  But we can't support every possible actvitity so we've narrowed the scope to cover a few select areas.

KO

The problrem is that you havent supported them.  You have ignored them for the past 5 months as it is.  At least as far as the crafters and entertainers are concerned.  Heck your idea of a fix for entertainers was to give them combat.   Copout anyone?

at least humor me with a "no".

but on a more serious note, how about giving me the ability to "deactivate' my account, so i can save my prepaid time untill you get this game in its 'finished' state.

as it is now, im just wasting my time in waiting for this 'finished' game, and then i can decide if i want to play it, or ditch it.

i will admit, its not fair to you guys for me to judge where i stand on the game, when even you admit its not finished.

if we want to be friendly, polite and respectfull to each other, please stop ignoreing that that when alot of us prePaid, the NGE was no where in sight (even to your top CS relations person at the time, or are we to belive tiggs is lieing when she states she had no idea about the nge?)

unless you stand up and admit how unfair it is to this specific situation, i see no real drive to be friendly, polite or respectful to you. and im sure you understand why.

serious offer on the table smed's. and i'd also like to read how you feel about those of us who are stuck with useless paid for time. im not asking you to justify it (even if i used those words) but i want some recognition and for someone (other than other players) to admit its an awefull bit of wrong doing on the part of SOE.

then just maybe, there might be some way to rectify this situation.

unfortunitly for you, im prePaid till the end of this comming july. and im not going away till i get a satisfactory answer regarding this issue.

OR, take me up on my offer, and someone else can fight this fight, as i will take me leave happily.

pm your answers if you dont want to open the can of worms here. (i promice to keep it between you and I if that is the reason i get no responce)
