While browsing the forums and then doing some in game testing I agreed with the conclusion that something wasn't quite right with Rifles and Lightsabers. Looking at the objects yielded nothing to work with. The weapon objects DPS values all looked correct. So I went digging in the combat code and narrowed the problem down to something with the player level damage add calculation. This chunk of code was not taking into acocunt the various rates of fire of the various weapons.
Having identified the problem, I recieved approval to fix it, and went in there and cleaned it up. What this means is after the next publish Rifles, Lightsabers and all Melee weapons will get the same damage modifiers from player levels as current pistols/carbines do. I suspect the Rifles(slow attack speed) and Lightsabers(medium attack speed) difference will be quite noticable and match up to pistols/carbines(fast attack speed).

WOW. This is great news! All of those looted rifles will finally be worth the effort.

I thought the fire rate of Rifles was slower on purpose. A lvl 80 rifle has a few hundred more points of damage as compaired to a pistol or carbine of the same lvl. Hummmm is that gonna make rifles the weapon fotm now instead of carbines.
