Just wanted to pop in for a bit and comment on the Wookiee armor concepts.
Let me start by saying that the inclusion of Wookiee armor was a direct response to the player base (well, the Wookiee players, anyway) asking for such armor. We also felt that Wookiees could benefit from Wookiee-specific armor. Unfortunately, there wasn't a huge amount of reference for full armor suits for Wookiees, but we did have some direction and guidance from Lucasfilm, who approved the final design. As JustG noted, the armor does look very different (i.e. cooler) when translated into the game, but I think even the concept art captures what we know about Wookiee culture and engineering. I feel strongly that it fits into the continuity and the Star Wars universe and hopefully, once you see it in-game, you'll agree.
I'll add that there are two additional concepts that were just approved today by Lucasfilm. We'll work on getting those up for you to check ASAP.
So you are saying 3 kinds of armor since you said two additional ones?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather... to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming: "WOW - What a ride!"
Thanks very muchly! It truly is appreciated. I'm sure I speak for all the wookiees we await eargerly for the new armour to roll out. While the 'ceremonial armour' looks a bit silly, I'm just glad we're getting something.
I just await all the haters now to come post about how unfair this all is, etc. Probably from both sides. *grin*
I would like to see Wookie armour incorporate furs and woven materials. I would also love to see Wookie specific bandoliers that held possibly 20 items. I have a Wookie on Sunrunner, and I'd loke for him to look more like Chewie.
Also, the Wook armour shown looks vaguely like samurai armour, especially the helmet.
btw, i like the lucasarts aura that comes with posts like these.... i think we should have comments/info from the lucasarts rep's a bit more.... the playerbase (and i) get a little anxious sometimes about whether or not "lucas would approve" of issue A, feature B, content C, etc when we only hear from SOE people. It's probably just a phobia but nonetheless, LucasArts represents something more to us.

Heck yeah, though I'd like to question the design decision on making the helmet an integrated part of the chest piece. Part of the reason why we wanted armour is to be able to take advantage of armour attachments, but judging by the setup we seem to be no better, or perhaps worse off in terms of allowances for those slots. Before people lambast me for 'complaining' I'd just like to point out that wookiees have very few ways to enhance via clothing tapes.
The name kinda bothers me. Im not up to date on my Star Wars lore but it seems that Kashyyykian Armor should be called Wookie Armor or something.
People from Phillipines != Phillipinians they = Filipinos
Food from Phillipines != Phillipinian Food it = Filipino Food
People from Kashyyyk != Kashyyykians they = Wookie
Armor from Kashyyyk != Kashyyykian it should = Wookie Armor or you could call it Wook Armor or something to reflect how people give stuff nicknames. The whole ian part just bothers me.
Sorry just being picky.
Also if the stats shifted like RIS very few people would ever buy it or waste time crafting it. People dont like spending time and effort to make random items of junk(even if it doesnt become junk until a shuttle trip).
Hey Shug, what about reports that we'll see Wooks with battle armor in Episode 3? From what I have heard (and I thought it came from official sources actually) it was more metallic, true laser-era battle armor. Or what about even Chewie's kind of armor from Shadows of the Empire? Did you guys look at that at all?
