OK listen up every-one. If you have any questions about any of the Cries of Alderaan story arc then hopefully this guide should answer every question... hopefully... It's based on loads of other guides, the most important of which are credited at the end. /tiphat to all the other players past and present who provided the other guides. If any-one has any suggestions or corrections please feel free to post comments. Otherwise enjoy

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cries of Alderaan Act I: Codes:
(started 12th August, 2003) required you to collect and assemble disks broken in to 4 parts of either an "Encrypted Rebel Transmission" or "Encrypted Imperial Transmission" (depending on faction) from killing Swoopers, Meatlumps, etc. and then hand them into a Faction Recruiter for 500 FP. These disks no longer drop. However, there have been unconfirmed reports that if you still have an assembled set of them, you can still hand them in and get the FP reward and badge.  These disks are now very rare and normally cost millions of credits.

The first person to email the actual message on the disks to SOE won a special faction point bonus of 5000 FP. One reward per side. The winners were Vete Starforge on Tarquinas and Castorius Pollaxa on Chilastra. The actual messges can be read HERE.

As the Rebels succeeded in handing in more disks than the Imperials. The resulting morale boost was reflected in a 10% increase in all faction rewards for Rebel missions for the following month.

[Part I of the event was over before the Europe-Chimaera, Europe-FarStar and Europe-Infinity servers were brought on line so you were never able to get the disks / badge on those servers]

Cries of Alderaan Act II: Loyalties:
(started 8th October, 2003) started with either a Rebel or Imperial Coordinator and required you to do a series of quests including collecting and assembling six parts of a Dead-eye Decoder. These parts no longer drop. You then had to travel to either Dantooine, Dathomir, Endor, Lok or Yavin IV to speak to a Rebel or Imperial Commander.  These NPCs no longer spawn. Who sent you on one last mission.

The reward for completing the mission was 750 FP [plus the 10% CoA bonus if you were Rebel*]

As the Rebels again succeeded in completing more missions than the Imperials the Rebels won the Act. The resulting morale boost was reflected in a 10% increase in all faction rewards for Rebel missions for the following month.

Cries of Alderaan Act III: Dead Eye:
(started 22nd January, 2004) starts with either a Rebel or Imperial Coordinator at these locations:

Rebel Coordinator, Mos Eisley, Tatooine: 3286 -4524
Rebel Coordinator, Mos Espa, Tatooine: -2927 2574
Rebel Coordinator, Tyrena, Corellia: -5218 -2602
Rebel Coordinator, Coronet, Corellia: 94 -4519
Rebel Coordinator, Nashal, Talus: 4065 5290

Imperial Coordinator, Kaadara, Naboo: 5144 6674
Imperial Coordinator, Theed, Naboo: -5431 4168
Imperial Coordinator, Bestine, Tatooine: -1131 -3661
Imperial Coordinator, Narmle, Rori: -5256 -2254
Imperial Coordinator, Restuss, Rori: 5348 5617 - removed following the publish of Chapter 1.1 - The Battle For Restuss on 27th June 2006

Act III takes place over three stages. Whilst you don't need to be a combatant during the first two stages of this arc you must be a combatant to do the third stage.

PART 1: Starter Planet

REBEL GUIDE

/conv "a Rebel coordinator"
"Hello.", a Rebel coordinator says to you. "I don't recall if we've worked together before. No matter, if you're loyal to the ideals of freedom and against the tyranny of the Empire, we can use you. And now is as good a time as any to get involved and help us out. Are you interested?"

You say: What's going on?
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "You haven't heard? Let me take a moment to fill you in. Dead Eye is the code name for what was an Imperial research project. It is a pharmaceutical that grants the user deadly aim. It can make even the greenest recruit a potential threat. It was developed by a scientist named Dr. Vacca. The situation looks sort of grim for us right now but we aren't without hope. That's where you come in."

You say: I'd like to get involved.
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "I'm happy to hear you say that, now is as good a time as any! We have an Information Officer who we have stationed in Commerce Guild of this city. Find the Commerce Guild and speak to the Information Officer there and ask him to fill you on all that has happened so far."

Goto "an Information Officer" located within a nearby Guild Hall.

/conv an Information Officer
"I was told you would be arriving.", an Information Officer says to you. "I don't have much time and there's much to do, so I'll try to make this briefing quick."

You say: What's the current situation?
"The situation is good.", an Information Officer says to you. "The message Princess Leia sent to Vacca did the trick. He's given us a prototype Dead Eye schematic. You can requisition one from any of our Recruiters, but you'll need some science skills to use it. It's nearly ready for use, though there are a few technical hurdles we must overcome."

You say: Tell me more.
"One hurdle we have not been able to overcome is the fact that the Dead Eye serum requires flora that only grew on Alderaan.", an Information Officer says to you. "Needless to say, the supplies of that flora are finite and very limited."

You say: What do we do?
an Information Officer says to you, "It will unless we can produce an alternative. We have already set up a number of small research facilities where we are trying to find an alternative. If it works, and we are not hindered by the opposition, we should be able to keep Dead Eye up and running. If we don't find an alternative, Dead Eye will be useless once the current supply of Alderaanian Flora runs out. If we can even get our hands on the current supply."

You say: Won't Dead Eye just fizzle out eventually?
an Information Officer says to you, "Scum of the galaxy or not, you have to admire the intelligence work of the underworld organizations. They learned of the importance of this flora well in advance of anyone else and took it upon themselves to corner the market."

You say: What do you mean?
an Information Officer says to you, "We'll have to get it from them quickly. Without even a small supply we won't be able to replicate an alternative and all this work will have been for nothing."

You say: So what can i do to help?
"We sent briefings to the Coordinators on some potential ways to get our hands on some of the stockpiles of the flora.", an Information Officer says to you. "Go talk with the Coordinator and he'll assign you a mission."

Return to " a Rebel coordinator"

/conv "a Rebel coordinator"
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "Ah good, you're back! I've finished analyzing the data from our most recent intelligence and it looks pretty promising. I think we are ready to proceed with our plan. I'll need you to go undercover. If you're successful you probably won't need to fire a single shot. If you fail, that's a different story and we're back to square one. Do you have any questions?"

You say: What are the details of this mission?
"As I'm sure you know various underworld organizations have all but cornered the market on this Alderaanian Flora.", a Rebel coordinator says to you. "As to be expected, Jabba the Hutt has come out ahead in this game and he seems to be the one doing the most business. This flora is enormously valuable so obviously Jabba's rivals are taking every opportunity to hijack any shipments they come across. Knowing this, Jabba is using a decentralized system of storage and transport to cut down on losses."

You say: Ok, go on.
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "He's using land vehicles to traffic the flora to and from the storehouses with a complex system of lookouts scattered along the routes. If any trouble is spotted, the caravans are alerted and they use a different route. It's all very organized. The intelligence I just analyzed reveals the location of all the lookouts on the planet and it indicates a caravan is to make a delivery today. Predicting the caravan's destination is simply impossible. This is where you come in."

You say: Interesting. Please continue.
"They are so cautious that caravans have been known to zig zag and circle for hours before finally heading to their destination unless things are completely safe. Simple observation won't tell us anything, so we need you to pose as a member of their organization and try to gather information about where that caravan is headed. We need hard information; disks, papers, whatever you can find. As you can imagine, this will be dangerous.", a Rebel coordinator says to you.

You say: How so?
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "These people are incredibly suspicious so you'll need to be very convincing. If they suspect you they won't hesitate to attack. If that happens, then I'm afraid we'll have to start over and try it again. Are you prepared to take on this task?"

You say: I'm ready to go.
a Rebel coordinator says to you, "Great! I've uploaded the location of one of their lookouts to your datapad. Pose as one of them and do whatever you can to get your hands on some hard data about that caravan. Things like papers, manifests or disks. Come back as soon as you find something. Be careful and remember to think like a thug. If things go bad, you'll have no choice but to fight. Should that happen, come back and we can try it again."

Your target has been located on Endor (or Yavin IV, Endor, Lok  or Dathomir).

IMPERIAL GUIDE

/conv with "an Imperial coordinator"
an Imperial coordinator says to you, "Greetings citizen, I don't believe we've worked together before. If you haven't heard, we've been having some serious problems with the Dead Eye project. Now is as good a time as any to get involved and help us out. What do you say?"

You say: What is all this Dead Eye Business?
an Imperial coordinator says to you, "Let me take a moment to fill you in. "I'm happy to hear you say that, now is as good a time as any! We have an Information Officer stationed in the Commerce Guild of this city. Find the Commerce Guild and speak to the Information Officer there and ask him to fill you on all that has happened so far.", an Imperial coordinator says to you.

Goto "an Information Officer" located within a nearby Guild Hall.

/conv with "an Information Officer"
"Hello there.", an Information Officer says to You. "I'd be happy to share information with you about what has transpired and the plan of action we've drawn up for dealing with this messy situation."

You say: What's the current situation?
"The situation was bad and now it has gotten worse.", an Information Officer says to you. "If you haven't heard already, Dr. Vacca has made the decision to side with the enemy. They are now starting the production and testing of the Dead Eye serum in many hidden research facilities. The enemy is even making the prototype available to their followers."

You say: Tell me more.
an Information Officer says to you, "One hurdle they have not been able to overcome is the fact that the Dead Eye serum requires flora that only grew on Alderaan. Needless to say, the supplies of that flora are finite and very limited. This is one fact that we will use to our advantage."

You say: Won't Dead Eye just fizzle out eventually? (how prophetic, )
n Information Officer says to you, "Vacca won't give up so easily. As soon as the supply of Alderaanian Flora is gone, Dead Eye is no more so they are set on finding an alternative. They have set up a number of secret research facilities to produce the Dead Eye serum and more importantly for them, to find a substitute for the rare flora. However some recent developments have come to light that may make tracking down these facilities easier than they expect."

You say: What do you mean?
"Scum of the galaxy or not, you have to admire the intelligence work of underworld organizations. They learned of the importance of this flora well in advance of anyone else and took it upon themselves to corner the market. If we track who is buying the flora and where it is being shipped, that will lead us to their research facilities.", an Information Officer says to you.

You say: Was there anything else?
an Information Officer says to you, "Well another way we can hinder the production of Dead Eye is hitting their stores of the Alderaanian Flora directly. If we can get to the flora before they do, that is that much less of the serum that can be made and used against us and that much less they can experiment with to find an alternative flora. I think the coordinator has other more immediate plans for you right now though."

You say: So what can i do to help?
an Information Officer says to you, "Why don't you go back and speak with the coordinator. He was analyzing some data that had to do with discovering the locations of these hidden research facilities. He's probably finished by now and he probably has some work for you to do so go back and talk to him."

Your target has been located on Endor (or Yavin IV, Endor, Lok  or Dathomir).

PART 2: Adventure Planet

Travel to the planet and then to the waypoint given:

Waypoint: LOCATE LOOKOUT, "Contact the Caravan Lookout at these coordinates and get any information possible about the caravan".

When you get to the NPC, make sure you use the radial menu and select "converse" otherwise you will open fire on him/her.  You must answer all the questions correctly or they will aggro on you. If you kill him/her, you will have to go back to the Rebel / Imperial Coordinator to get a new waypoint. You used to have to have +ve Jabba Faction Points to speak to the NPC but i'm not sure if this is still the case.

/conv
"Ya talkin' to me?", Weslei Oxa says to you. "Who sent ya?"

You say: I work for Jabba.
"Ya do?", Weslei Oxa says to you. "I can't give ya anything, what I have is mine. But take a rest if ya need it. So what sort of work do you do do?"

You say: Whatever makes me the most money.
"Now we're talkin'!", Weslei Oxa says to you. "That's a good philosophy to stick too. The pay's not bad but the kick-backs you get from making Jabba happy, that's what makes it all worth it."

/conv
"You're a chatty one. Then again, it gets a little lonely bein' out here so it's nice to have someone to chat with. But let's just keep it to small talk okay?", Weslei Oxa says to you.

You say: What do you do for fun?
"I like gamblin'.", Weslei Oxa says to you. "Mostly Sabacc, ya know? I stay away from those Lugjack machines. Ya may as well be throwin' credits into the Sarlacc Pit playin' that game. That's a game for old women and clueless nobles who can't appreciate the subtleties of a real man's game. You like Sabacc?"

You say: Yes, lots of money to be made at that game.
"Don't you know it!", Weslei Oxa says to you. "If I had better luck, I'd play it for a livin'. It would probably less risky then this line of work."

/conv
"So...", Weslei Oxa says to You. "What do you like to do for fun?"

You say: I love playing Sabacc.
"You too huh?", Weslei Oxa says to you. "Well it's great we have something in common! Too bad we don't have cards or we could have us a game. Say, what's your favorite Sabacc variant?"

You say: Random Sabacc.
Weslei Oxa says to you, "Wow, you must be good! I can't keep up with all that constant rule changin'."

/conv
Weslei Oxa says to you, "Say. There's something I need to ask you."

You say: What is it?
"I'm in sort of a jam right now.", Weslei Oxa says to you. "You wouldn't happen to be good at fixin' things would ya? One of the speeders in our caravan has a busted 100-GU anti-gravity unit and it ain't goin' no where until it gets repaired. Jabba's got a lot of money tied up in this shipment so I'm sure he'd pay ya well for your trouble!"

You say: Err... Yeah I'm great at fixing things.
"You're a real sport.", Weslei Oxa says to you. "This is a really important shipment and if it's lost, Jabba will have all our heads. Take this repair kit and get that part fixed. They'll give you an encoded disk that explains their status. Just deliver that disk and I'm sure you'll be paid well. Just don't lose it! Even though it is encoded, I'd hate to be you if you let it fall into the wrong hands."

You have been given a grav unit repair kit. A “Grav Unit Repair Kit” NO TRADE is placed in your inventory.

Waypoint: CONTACT CARAVAN LEADER, "Contact the Caravan Leader at these coordinates and help repair the broken grav unit" approx 1.2 km away

/conv
Peiniwe Anis says to you, "Are you the one I'm waiting on? Transporting this much... umm cargo... over land is dangerous. There are a lot of people that would love to hijack this shipment. With us being broke down; it's only a matter of time before they find us."

You say: Yes, i'm here to make the repairs.
"Thank the stars! Here's the part we need to get fixed. Repair that anti-gravity unit and let me know when you're finished. Then we can all get out of here and forget this whole mess ever happened.", Peiniwe Anis says to you.

You have been given a Broken Grav Unit. A “Grav Unit” NO TRADE is placed in your inventory, use the radial menu on the Grav Repair Unit. You have repaired the 100 GU Grav Unit.

/conv
Peiniwe Anis says to you, "So is that part repaired yet?"

You say: Yes, here it is.
"Take this disc. It gives our new ETA and all the gritty details of this debacle of an operation. Most importantly, it explains I'm not at fault. I don't want this breakdown to tarnish my reputation. I'd rather die than to survive a hijacking and have to face Jabba. He'd hold me personally responsible for the loss of the cargo I'm sure! And don't get any ideas about reading that disk. That's all classified info and it's all encoded.", Peiniwe Anis says to you.

You have been given a data disk. An “Encoded Data Disk” NO TRADE is placed in your inventory. You have been awarded 200 points of Jabba faction standing.

work in progress please bear with me

PART 3: Destroy Warehouse on Adventure Planet

Go back to the Rebel Coordinator and they will send you to go and speak to the Rebel Tactical Officer in the nearby Guildhall.
Answer 1: I'd be happy to help.

Your target has been located on Endor (or Yavin IV, Endor, Lok  or Dathomir).

Again, you are given a random advanced planet and the waypoint 8190, 8190. You should see 7 NPC's in and around a small building. After you kill them, enter the building. In the back room is a drum with Alderaan Flora. After looting the flora, click on the Data Terminal and set it to Self-Destruct.

You have 30 seconds to exit the building...

Return to the Tactical Officer and converse with him. You should recieve 50 Rebel FP for each flower you drag onto the Tactical Officer. It looks like you can now do the previous mission as many times as you want, and each time you hand him flora he will award you with faction.

PART 4: Defend (Rebel) / Attack (Imperial) Research Facility on Adventure Planet

Now return to the Rebel Coordinator and converse.
Answer 1: I'm up for anything.

You should get a waypoint either on Dathomir, Endor, Yavin IV or Lok. Upon arriving, you will see Princess Leia and a few other Rebel NPC's around a camp. Converse with Princess Leia.
Answer 1: What's going on?
Answer 2: What is the enemy doing?

You are given a nearby waypoint called "Protect Research Facility" At the waypoint is a large building surrounded by 8 Rebel NPC?s. You must defend the base from 3 waves of Storm troopers. Once they have all died you should recieve your badge.

Your reward at the end of Part III is 750 FP [plus a 75 CoA bonus if you're a Rebel*].

If you arrive at your WP and find that Princess Leia / Colonel Veers isn't there check that you have these coordinates as there is a bug whereby you can get the wrong WP.

Rebel Bases:
Lok (-4753, 3516)
Dantooine (6877, 2253)
Endor (4021, 2970)
Dathomir (-48, 86)
Yavin 4 (-4238, 2277)

Imperial Bases:
Lok (-2568, -862)
Dantooine (2505, -2053)
Endor (-1954, 1052)
Dathomir (-6303, -529)
Yavin 4 (1587, -3533)

FYI these are the badges you could have got had you completed all 3 phases:

...has investigated Project Dead Eye. (Act 1)
...has successfully contacted Dr. Vacca. (Act 2 Rebel)
...has assisted in securing Dr. Vacca's cooperation. (Act 2 Imperial)
...has successfully helped locate Dead Eye resources for the Rebellion. (Act 3 Rebel)
...has successfully helped locate Dead Eye resources for the Empire. (Act 3 Imperial)

* The CoA 10% bonus was removed when Publish 25 (NGE) came out on 15th November 2005 .

Dead-Eye Prototype Schematics:

These were available off of Rebel Recruiters since they were added into the game, and cost 750 Faction Points (prior to the GCW revamp which occurred when Chapter 1.1 was released). They needed a Food and Chemical crafting tool to make one of these.  There was no profession requirement. Sadly, these are not craftable (or obtainable it would seem) anymore.  To stop some old exploits, SOE added serial numbers to loot items a while back.  Without a serial number, you cannot use that item to craft no matter what it is. If you look at the Flora, it has no serial number. Old and newly looted ones are all the same name. No serial number, no Dead-Eye Prototype.

No the devs don't actually won't folks to be able to do the missions anymore. If you are on the Third Part you should still be able to do that.

Also I believe old characters who were around can still get the Flora from the repeatable part of destroying the warehouses. Should see it's still possible, but it's probably so easy that it's laughable. Use to remember when COA was fairly hard.

Do faction recruiters still sell the Deadeye prototype schematic?  I know it's been a while, but I'm just curious.

Encoded Rebel Transmission and Encoded Imperial Transmission disks can still be handed to a recruiter to get the Part 1 Badge....

Assembling the other types of disks gives a very small credit reward when handed in.
