NPCs will be stationed in some cities that allow you to change your profession for a price.  As a gift for publish 28 everyone gets one respec from the NPCs for free.  The NPCs work essentially the same as the respec devices.

That is EXACTLY how it is done in WoW.  No wonder your detractors keep saying you are copying WoW instead of doing your own game.

At what point in EQ could you change your profession?  Or EQ2 for that matter?

Supported the CU, but am only supporting the NGE because SWG is stuck under 2 of my all access accounts.

As has been said already, Droid Engineers are implied in this.  If Droid Engineers had working and useful modules for the droids they can already make, more players would be using them.

  1. Will Smuggler's be able to Smuggle (i mean ACTUAL Smuggle) Publish 31.  We'll determine what 'smuggling' actually means. - ChrisCao
  2. Are you going to get an "actual" SIG??? (Smed this is to you.. btw)
  3. What are your thoughts on this Idea: {PLUG: My idea for LS Crafting}?? I have recieved a response from Ex-Lord TH & Dev_Mercy on this... curious as to what the others think...
  4. Any chance you could put in a "good" word for me, in the Galatic Senate Program? Word - ChrisCao (for some reason... i'm afraid... but i hope i become a Galatic Senator)
  5. Need CLARIFICATION on what "Respec NPCs" means...  Still wondering if CL's comes into play (Currently we'll get a free Respec from the NPC, but then it will cost Credits (100K - 25 Mill (hopefully that will be reduced in price))
  6. Need Info on the XP Situation... They are looking into an "Increase" in XP from Wild Spawns... However we (Community) don't know how much of an Increase it'll be...

Okay, John.  I appreciate your attention to this thread.  It has been long overdue.

One thing I do want to call you out on is communication.  It has not been "great" as you may believe.  While your people do have a lot of posts catalogued, if you take a close look at them you will see that Kurt's trademark answer is: I'll look into it and get info to you soon.  Once prime example is concerning XP fixes in SWG.  That has been for several weeks now, and was repeated, yet again, after the Publish 27.7 quest nerfs.  Now, I understand he is the go between guy, so I won't come down on him for this one, but why is it taking weeks to get the information to us?  Shouldn't XP fixes, which have been an issue since NGE launch, already be in the pipe?  Should there be information for him to get out?

That is just one example, I'd be happy to PM you others if you want.  But high post counts do not equate to information being put out to the community.  "Soon" is no longer cutting it for issues that have been nearly 5 months and on-going.

Other things you need to answer to your customers:

When NGE launched, we were told here at the forums, and in Stratics Chat, by Kurt and some Developers that by the 6-month mark we would see a complete SWG: NGE and a far, far better game.

With that mark approximately 60 days away, here are some questions. . .

Point #1: Lack of content.  There is no reason to feel compelled to create an ALT, since there is no variation in Legacy Quests, which are, quite frankly, boring as hell the 2nd time around.  The mid-game combat levels are reduced to hunting Wookies and Varactyls until you go mind-numb.  Hunting and group activities are non-existant due to extremely poor XP development.

Question: When can we expect to see CL45-CL70 content, and actual XP fixes?  Will it come within the remaining 60 days promised in the beginning?

Point #2: Poor development times.  The NGE was supposed to make adding content and balances faster.  Now we are being told it has been slowed down for quality.  Whatever the reason, content and updates are as slow, and bug-ridden (Publish 26 and the late Publish 27) as anything done Pre-NGE.

Question: It was proclaimed that NGE would make balances, updates, and new content easier and faster to impliment.  Why, then, is it taking just as long, if not longer, than pre-NGE; and is just as buggy upon release?

Point #3: Lack of diversity.  Anyway, any one character class (they shouldn't even be called "professions" at this point) is the same as every other member of said class.  Period.  No exception.  Boring.

Question:  Again, with 60 days remaining on the original, hyped 6 months . . . can we expect diversity within 60 days?

Point #4  1/3 of the Iconic Professions without a purpose.  Crafters/Traders, Entertainers, and Smugglers are without purpose in the game

Question: Same as above.  60 days remaining, and yet the publish plan shows a far longer, required time.  Why?

Point #5  Combat system.  No collision detection.  Horrible A.I. behavior.  Combat, especially PvP, is too fast to enjoy.  This game is not more immersive, it is too fast and boring.  There is no time to get mentally into a fight, let alone enjoy it for being "Star Wars-y".

Question: Collission Detection discussion seems to have vanished.  This, again, was said to be implimented by the 6-month mark.  Will it be here as promised within 60 days?

Point #6:  GCW.  Galactic . . . Civil . . . WAR.  Period.  It has been missing since Pre-CU, was 1) advertised as part of the game on the original box, the Total Experience box, and the Starter Kit and is not present in the actual game, and 2) which did exist at one point, and was removed by force by the development team.

Question:  The Publish Plan puts it further out than your remaining 6 month mark.  Why?

The bottomline is . . . I see there have been some new SWG Team faces introducing themselves at the forums here and there.  Regardless of any supposed turnover in team roster, that boils down to SOE's problem, not the community's.  As many know by now, I am a CEO of a Multimedia Entertainment Corporation and have been in the entertainment business for close to 20 years.  I know how the business game is played.

Is NGE going to be ready, as promised at launch, within the next 60 days?  If not, why?  And save the marketing hype for the media, tell us why.

Otherwise, was the 6-month mark just another SOE attempt at smoke-and-mirrors and spin-control?  If not, then convince us.

The Community, as the paying base, deserves answers.

And don't point me to your "Publish Plan".  The plan is the issue, at it disregards the "stick with us, and by the end of the first 6 months you'll see a finished NGE that will be a better experience than SWG has ever been."

You got our money for the past 4 months, and that "plan" makes it look like the info in the beginning- at the chats, here, and elsewhere- were lies to get the money.

Bottom line where the game will actually be in 60 days; and if you can, convince us to stay and not move on to your competitors.

They are getting some combat abilitites.  If they end up getting some bard-like abilitites, they will have an even bigger part,.

Entertainers want a role in the GCW that is representative of their profession, not the combat skills that they are being given to placate them until actual Entertainer content can be added.

There have been many threads in the Entertainer forums with excellent suggestions on how to introduce GCW content for Entertainers that makes sense for their non-combat play style.  Not every solution in the Star Wars universe requires a gun.

You guys have missed the  boat on one of the most Star Warsish things: Droids

Ask GL how important R2 and 3PO are to his saga.

Now, ask yourself, "what have we done to droid engineers?"

I'll agree with you here.  Droids are a key part of the SW fantasy.  But droid engineers are not.  What we should've done was implement droids as a player race and really give players the opportunity to experience them as part of the game.  I know this may be misunderstood so let me be clear:  we're not adding droids as a playable race.  In the grand scope of things, however, it's as you said.  We missed the boat on them.

I know it would require ALOT of programming, but what about increasing the number of types of droids that can have personality chips.  Also what about having battle droids, droidekas, and SBDs creatable by droid engineers?  Also would need to increase what all a personality chip would do for droids and perhaps have them make more sounds.

Supported the CU, but am only supporting the NGE because SWG is stuck under 2 of my all access accounts.

Slicing type gameplay will return with the reverse-engineering game for traders.  GCW bases (not to be confused with battlefields) will be making a combeback in an upcoming publish.  One of the systems guys is looking into updating these as we speak.  Faction pets are coming back as part of GCW expertise trees (see my post above).

One last think I would like to ask the, What are your intentions on creating a nicer UI? The OLD UI sure looked a lot better than the current one..

GCW, what about adding neutrals into the fray, possibly an alignment aspect, where if  they were sided with Jabba or anouther MOB Boss and they could actually add to the sway of either side of the GCW, seeing as they did so in the Story books at their own discretion? This way Rebels or Imps could have an extra hand in any type of ground battle.

why can't you do these things?

Message Edited by RKO on 03-24-200609:26 AM

Why can't we do these things?

1) Target lock - Believe it or not we talked long and hard about this one. If you seriously sit down and think about the nature of the NGE style of combat, it means that people need to be able to use actual skill to hit. If you take that away you need to go back to the more turn based system we had before. It just plain wouldn't work. Now you can make a legitimate argument that we shouldn't use this style of combat. I have no defense against that argument because nearly every other MMO out there uses that style of combat and clearly it works. What we are trying to do here is create a new style of gameplay. Does it work? Well.. for some people it does, and for others it doesn't. That's the truth. For myself, I prefer it to the old combat system which I personally found dull. But that's just my personal opinion. The reality is we've changed to the new system and we're moving forward. It isn't that we can't add target locking.. it's that wer'e not going to because there isn't a way to do it that wouldn't reduce the skill level needed.

2) The more rigid profession system we've switched to just doesn't lend itself to a skill system that's like what we had before.

Smed

Since you refuse to fix target locking, would you please make it so the bugs/NPCs don't stack?
