In fact, I'll go so far as to say that there are some elements that are objectively more SW than others.

We're going to put the stuff that's clearly SW in first. We're going to modify or retrofit the best of what was fun but not completely SW in second. We're going to remove or eliminate those things that clearly aren't SW.

And, we're going to do it all at a pace that ensures quality and fun.

Damn, I really thought that the Aurillian Plant had potential....

Wth?  We loved the villiage.  If you arnt going to make it Jedi realted, at least do it for quests.  Completly removing something as big as that leaves a huge hole.  We want it back!

Hell, they should at least keep the items and move them to some other quest.

The Universal Inorganic Surveying Device? Definitely something a Trader would want to have.

The Aurillian Plant - I love that it is one of two interactive furniture pieces in the game, and the plant has it's own AI unlike the Ballot Terminal that is programmable by the user.

Does this mean for example that the first 2 professions will have this edge over all other professions and then 2 more approx 2 months later until all are completed? If so, which 2 professions are first to be elite?

Yes.  It's either that or no profession updates for the next 6 months (or whatever the time frame is).

Jedi & Bounty Hunter are on the books for first pass.

Imagine that!!! Wow paying attention to Jedi and BH, if they would have done this at start, there would be no problems.  Can we do something besides these two profs for once, I mean seriously, I cancelled my Jedi because I hated that everyone was one.

the most recent profession polls indicate 34% of players are jedi and 23% bh and like 12% commando im sure its changed a bit but u need to attend to the masses

The masses are this way because thats all they pay attention too.  There are no CHs because you can't be.  Smugglers are broke, so no smugglers.  Same with everything else.  Why do you think Commando makes your list?  Only thing that has been "fixed" since NGE.  Sorry but that was an ignorant statement you made.

In the last few hours you guys have done more real communication then you guys have done in the last 2+ years of this game. I also see alot of issues being addressed but talk is cheap lets hope these things make it to the live game.

We need to do this ever other friday, seriously.

WarStory

There are only five notes in the musical scale, but their variations are so many that that cannot all be heard. There are only five basic colors, but their variations are so many that they cannot all be seen. There are only five basic flavors, but their variations are so many they cannot all be tasted. There are only two kinds of charge in battle, the unorthodox surprise attack and the orthodox direct attack, but variations of the unorthodox and the orthodox are endless. The unorthodox and the orthodox give rise to each other, like a beginningless circle- The Art of War by Sun Tzu

Even as a type of themepark for high end content? The stuff is already there it could be great to keep for a themepark with a badge after you go through all 4 phases helping every npc

Honestly, the village was some of the most broken content we ever introduced into this game.  We can get better content into the game now if we start from scratch.

Strongly disagree with you on this. That's the whole problem with the nature of Jedi in the Star Wars universe and making it work in an MMO. a large percentage of the population want to be jedi's because it's what they've seen in the movies.

Okay since my last post was too long to be noticed I'll play 5 questions

1.) Atomspheric Flight/Combat Vehicles, any plans for either, I think it's not "impossible" if you use an instance?

2.) Space content, out of room, shouldn't adding new zones fix this?

3.) Why the switcheroo from FanFest showing a capitol ship under control to saying no plans, couldn't this be "free" content?

4.) Why were Characters given 10 more levels and high-end creatures not, this makes reason of why the game is too easy now?

5.) Where are the mounted unicorns in publish 29?

Hi again

One of the more tech headed guys in these forums posted an explanation as to why FPS combat has NEVER been done by other MMORPG's.

Basically he said that it's impossible for the internet to send the combat information needed to every toon in the surrounding area in the speed needed for Real Time combat. This it seems is why we're having so much trouble with our specials either not firing or miss firing because the data simply isn't being transferred fast enough.

Your thoughts on this? (keep it simple please)

Specials not firing is entirely unrelated to this issue. FPSs use mostly UDP. SWG doesn't really use UDP. UDP uses small, fast packets that don't rely on being delivered 100% of the time, because they constantly get resent with updated information. You need a lot more bandwidth for UDP based gaming, generally because you constantly need to send updated about traveling projectiles, etc.

The problem with specials not firing has to do with a timer on the client. It's essentially a problem with trying to fire a special while another attack is still executing (like a default left-click attack). That's why you can let off the mouse for a short while and the special will fire.

As you see, we have identified the issue and the programming staff is investigating a fix.

that is not the issue. the issue is specials act like they fired off (cooldown has started when you clickd or pushed the special button) but the effect of the special dosent happen. most ppl say its 'jedi heals' but its with any and all combat specials.

way to pay attn there bub.

Message Edited by BoFa-ST on 03-24-200601:50 PM

No really, that is the issue. The client pre-emptively shows you animations for stuff that it thinks the server will approve. When the command gets to the server it can get denied because of the timer issue I mentioned.

then howcome they start cooling down? for what you say to be true, wouldnt it kinda... stall a second, and they be like 'no data received' and let us re-apply that special?

what you are describing is the complaint of "i have to hit my special 4 tiems before it takes". that is due to the current action still 'winding'.

and theres no way im gonna buy "cooldowns are client side" cause then you are beggin for ppl to haxor them up. its definitly server side. it executes the cooldown WITHOUT executing the specials effects.

example: you see your health at about, 75%. you then stop hitting damage specials in order to gain the action you will need for your heal. around 50% health, you will have the action saved to fire off teh heal. so you do, you see the 'cooldown' start on the heal icon, yet there was no "+XXXX" that floated about your head. your health is now at about 25%, and before you know it. you are dead.

all that happens in a matter of seconds. you have not explained how or why that issue happens what so ever.

/bump for r5 to comment (i kinda think they dev's dont understand the issue)
