Smed or a csr please answer.

There has been an outcry on the forums for a roll back. As i understand the term Rollback it would mean rerurning to the old system and scrapping everything that happened since the NGE.

Please clearly state weather this is even possible and discribe what the end results would be if it were?

I will jump in and answer this honestly:

We are not doing a roll back. We are not planning a roll back. We are not discussing a roll back. Once again, we are not doing a roll back.I

Can you see the game being bug free? I can't.

I want a rollback mainly to get rid of the bugs, the bugs are the main things killing SWG, not the actual NGE. NGE code on top of the CU and pre-CU has just totally stuffed things up. I can't see the game ever getting fixed, unless there is a rollback, and the CU is worked upon.

Here's a bold goal -

Let's get all the bugs out of the game within 6 months. Maybe we won't hit it, but that's what we're shooting for.

Smed

6 months?????????????????

We want the game bug free NOW!!

Plus I don't hold any confidence, that the bugs won't be stamped out, as I know programming better than you do, maybe a dev should respond to this? Smed give one of your dev puppets the green light to answer!

Also why was the NGE not on TC for ages, why did we only have 2 weeks notice of it??? My time grinding Jedi was a waste of time, on 4 mof my accounts, when one would have done. I could have used the time, playing a CH or Bio-Engneer instead of grinding Jedi, if I knew the NGE was coming.

If there was an announcement in November about the NGE coming in about 6 months time, I would have had all 14 accounts active, making the most of the CU with it, and getting all my Jedi chars through to mastered, enjoyed their skills, enjoyed CH and BE, then would have welcomed the NGE with open arms, which could have been bug free, or not many bugs in game worth worrying about.

But implementing NGE within 2 weeks of announcement has just pissed everyone off!

The only reason you implemented the NGE too soon, was to create huge publicity, through bad publicity, like what Michael Jackson does!

Bottom line is smed, you're a nasty evil scheister!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're out of time, SOE The whole 2.5 months shouldn't have been. The game was fine up until Nov 15th. If the CU was worked on, instead of devoting time to the NGE (including the many months prior to November), the game could possibly be totally bug free by now.

My account cancels on 2nd Feb, which was a waste as only played game for 1 day to get the life day gifts, will be resubbing when creature handler, Bio-engineer, scout, and ranger return, oh and the FS village.

Please forgive me chris, as I know you all are working hard.  But a snails pace isnt acceptable at this point.  You all stated when the NGE went live that you were capable of programming that style of game more, so that patches could be pushed live faster.   So far, your still going at the same old pace of 1 a month like you did before.  Yes I see the 27.1, 27.2, etc, but you all did this prior to NGE as well.   So please, if you couldnt get it right then, why are we to believe you can do so now?

Example is the shambles made of the entertainer and crafter professions at the expense of combat profession which you thought would bring you more players.  So far I dont see it.  Care to enlighten us?

Silly human.  Those are the safest states in the Union.  It is not the Law Abiding citizen that has a permit you need to fear.  It is the criminal element who does not bother with permits anyway.

Ya thats another big issue.  SLOW DOWN COMBAT!  Its pointlessly fast right now, more like a benny hill show then anything else.  Fights shouldn't last an hour but they also should be more entertaining then holding the left mouse button for 20 seconds.

Howdy SOE,

After 30mins of lets play catch up, I think I have finally caught up with all the active posts.Mind you after I’m done writing this 10 more pages will appear. So I apologize now if my questions have been answered…

First off, this is going to drive me nuts because I’m weird.Mr. Smedley, I think you need your own tracker.Right now you are on the Dev and Community Tracker, which is clogging everything the devs say, not, that all this information is bad, just confusing.I think you need a SOE President Tracker, that way we can track you at an easier rate. Now that I have said that, next…. this post will go with questions back and fourth towards yourself and the dev team.I just wanted to say that this little interview, well big actually, is exactly what we as a community needed. It is appreciated greatly.

Okay so a few Business questions, the NGE was released with out any public comments, why?Correct me if I’m wrong, but the customer is always right, hence we are paying. Now I’m not saying we are always right, but what we want should be your top priority. It sounds kind of selfish yes I know, but that’s reality. With so many players putting up a fuss when the NGE was announced, why wasn’t that a sign, why did it get pushed through? I understand it was a great marketing idea for Christmas and maybe gave you the advertisement needed. However the whole “Star Warsy” and “Iconic” really have to go, most players don’t want to walk in the shadows, I know I didn’t.I liked being my own character pre-nge we were all different.I think the best Star Wars game would be this game, with all 3 systems put together, each system brought things that pissed people off, and things that made everyone very happy.Just a quick example, 1 publish the team decided they were going to divide the amount of exp given in a group by the total number of people in the group, stupid idea, yes we know.It was quickly changed after the community exploded with angry, which I’m sure most of us can say thanks. However my point, yes here it is finally, is that with the NGE that stupid exp nerf was put back in.The current system divides exp by the total number of group members. We are going away from repeatable quests, however if we cant go to a terminal with a group and grind on killing creatures, we are running out of options.Yes I know we have more quests coming, but what about the people that don’t want to quest? That would rather kill lairs of pickets?A simple removal of the exp division would allow players to gain exp quicker.

Now for Jedi, according to you everyone wants to be Jedi, I couldn’t agree more. However I feel the old system regarding Jedi was much better.Players should not have the ability to be Jedi right away; yes I know we are going for the “Everyone is Equal” thing, but honestly.Jedi, even in the movies, did not swarm every planet like they do now. They were determined to be the best, like it was in the old systems.Jedi in the movies spent their entire lives learning the ways of the force, that should be here too if we are going to be like Star Wars.Reactivate the village, make it hard to become Jedi and give the true meaning back, yes I’m sure the new players will want to shoot me, but that is the way most Veterans who spend huge parts of their lives only to be slapped in the face with an I’m sorry, all your work was for nothing but a stupid title, Robes and a crystal which really don’t help that much to begin with.We were told we would have an edge, I’m sorry but I don’t see an edge.So my real question here, is why was Jedi added as a starting profession, what was the reasoning behind it?

I think the NGE was not the way to go with this player base.Walk with me on this; you have a game like SWG was, and now you have SWG now. SWG is in-between the 2 variants of games. It isn’t fast enough to be your Battlefield type of game, and isn’t slow enough to be like it was, like many other games are.I think we need to choose a type and stick with it.If I wanted a face paced game, I would log onto Battlefield and start blowing stuff up and shooting every enemy that comes along, that is why it is fun, instant combat. However SWG lacks the instant combat, before it was long drawn out combat that many players liked. We need diversity back, 9 professions divided by however many players we have is not a good ratio.

Game Play Issues, Updates, and Comments.

The future of SWG?Well we would all like to know.As I understand it, SWG holds the largest number of Devs in the SOE Company.Well from here it such as heck doesn’t look like it.If 20 something odd professions were removed to make the game easier to handle, something is wrong. Now it was a simple fix, some say, with them being gone, the time in which things are fixed and implemented should have dropped tremendously.Yet the time is still there? Why has it not increased with all the extra help we now have?Like I said before, we need diversity, we don’t want to be “Iconic” that should should be buried.

Crafters? We want a publish plan for ourselves, Combat gets it, why cant we?I mean if we are trying to be equal, you’re sure aren’t being fair to the crafting community.Yes we are a smaller group, but just the same, and just as important. Now with this Trader Revamp you speak of, I do hope it’s not an NGE for Traders, remove everything and make it so any idiot could figure it out, because I’m pretty sure that would just piss everyone off. There have been so many great ideas that players have come up with regarding Traders and what we want, yet no Devs respond, I don’t know if they even know that forum is there? No offense team, you do a great job, but are missing the other part of the game.Decay removed the need for AS’s, Loot removed the need for WS’s, No maintenance removed the need for Architects, that profession needed work from the get go, there wasn’t anything to keep buyers coming back.Shipwright seems to be doing okay, but the others hurt, with a lack of content. We need Crafted items to be just as good and maybe a little better then loot. That way players can still loot awesome rifles, but if they spend the time and energy, they can get a crafter one that makes those looted ones look like child’s play. Some great ideas appeared, make looted weapons reverse engineerable like shipwright.Turn them into a schematic that would give us a purpose. This simple fixes would help greatly, yes I know it might not be that simple to implement, but to us it looks simple.Weapons need things that need to be upgraded, like allow creatures to drop attachments that can go into a gun, increase its speed, damage (Min and Max) etc.Make it so things drop for armor, like attachments that can be put into the armor to increase agility, Constitution, etc.Kind of like the health bonuses are, might I add those need to be worked on, a extra 300 health at this time is pointless, now making it 3k might be a good move.

Okay Chris Cao said you were making the game go towards a real Star Wars adventure, what happens if your players like the off-topic things, like crafting, Entertainer…etc all the stuff that goes on behind the “Iconic” Star Wars characters. There is that damn word again, Iconic.LOL.Okay I think I am done venting…. I think!Again I just saw a post about Jedi and Milking, your comparing oranges and apples. Some like Jedi, being hunted, or hunting.Others like milking yes weird, but it makes a profit for the Traders. We want those little non-Star Wars things there too.Adding them both will make everyone very happy.

Might I add that I am looking to apply with SOE in just a few short years, so you might be seeing me.I’m still trying to figure out what schooling is needed, etc…

Thank you for your time and reading this post.
