Uhh...  Well Mr. Smedley, it's fairly obvious what the bottom line is here (and I give you kudos for setting your opinion, and holding to it).  It seems the talking point for yourself and SOE is "this is our direction, and you have the choice to accept it, or not".  I like it when I'm given clear indications.  The NGE will stay, a rollback is not an option, bringing back turn style combat is not an option, and bringing back skills instead of profs is also not an option.  And as nobody from your end will commit to a Pub Plan with any kind of timeline, even a rough and vague one, I'm left with 2 options:

Either I accept the way the game will be proceeding, or I don't.  I never thought I'd hit that cancel button, but until changes come that make SWG my home again, I guess this is "so long".  I'll miss this game for sure.

Good luck in future endeavours Mr. Smedley, I wish you well.

I'm only trying to be blunt in saying "this is our direction". I do still think engaging in the community and being a part of the change for the better is a good thing too.. obviously my message isn't "accept the NGE or quit.. we don't care". We absolutely care. Do you think it's fun for our devs to read these boards? Don't you think they want to make this game the best that they can? We all take pride in what we do. I would like nothing more than to be reading stories about how amazing the NGE is and how we've turned the game around. I expect to read those stories someday. Until we're there though, it's nothing but hard work and long hours with everybody examining every decision we make with a microscope. Fair enough.

Smed

Smed, the NGE will never be successful.  If you want to see your boards full of happy people kissing SOE's ass I suggest you start re-implementing aspects from Pre-CU.  The number one problem with the game right now is the combat system.  Tell your Dev team to drop what their doing right now and come together and fix this serious problem.  SWG was never ment to be Star Wars Battlefront!  At this point it is clear that you will never go fully back to Pre-CU, the best and most complex MMO ever made, but sh.it man, ANYTHING is better then the NGE!  This thread is too long so ill just leave out the many other problems I have with this NGE for right now.  Please, collect the current SWG Dev team, sit them all down in your conference room and show them all the billing records from Pre-May 5th 2005 and then the current billing records.  Tell them to make the game more like it was Pre-May 5th (fast annimations with slower more strategic combat, a combat queue, mulitple health pools, and skill points).  Thanks for finally communicating with your community and not just with FoH or whatever their called.

Will we ever see Clothing and Armor Attachments drop again? Crafters right now are getting screwed because they can't get any more experimentation points since they aren't dropping.

Someone from the dev team please answer this question.

The reverse engineering system planned for the trader revamp will replace things like clothing and armor attachments. In the mean time, it's unlikely that we will add content that will be replaced with an upcoming publish. So the short answer is we don't plan on adding too much to trader until we do their revamp.

Damnit! You don't get it when it comes to CA/AAs... What about those of us who have stock piles of attachments that we spent millions on before the NGE?? What about us WOOKIEES who can't wear the modded clothing that drops! Whats the point of having sockets in clothing anymore if you guys aren't going to have AA/CAs drop?! Its simple, just retrofit all exisiting AA/CAs with new stats (stamina, const, etc) just like you guys did with the first combat upgrade. And also, just put them back into the loot table also with the new stats, that way we aren't bound to the ugly clothing that drops. We can customize the clothing we have with the stats we want. ITS SIMPLE, DO IT ALREADY. Jesus!

I've been bitching about this since the NGE hit. It just makes sense. Being a wook in the NGE is a burden.

Smed I just paid 15$  to log in and ask you this since it looks like you are responding today.

My question is do you see a problem with time invesments that players put into the game and changes to the game that nullify that time investment?

The list of things in this catagory is so large I don't know where to start. Jedi, crafters, resources, skill tapes, loot that has been rendered worthless. I have a real problem playing any MMPORG game now because of the deep betryal by the LA/SOE joint project.  The whole point of a MMORPG is to build a charector so if every 6 months your "work/investment" is flushed down the toilet what is the point?

For the record  I think resources would have been better spent not trying to recreate the game but improve it. You recently mentioned guild run capitals IMO to give people a glimmer of hope. If you would have been adding these features like Capitals or hoth on the prcu this game/comunity would be in much better shape.

I still read the forums every day for hope but am unsure I would ever come back because of my question to you.

Good post. Feel the same way, until a few months ago I had 6 accounts, Today Im down to this one. All of the work on those other 5 accounts , made worthless in a month.

This is what was needed here to stop all these rumors,Lately Ive found it very unbearable to post or even read some parts of this forum because of all the rumors and "PRE CU FTW!!!" threads.

Ive played all Three systems and im sure ill get called a carebear for this or be told i sucked pre cu when in fact i didnt, but the nge is my favorite combat wise,However you are right about content Im CL90 and the last two weeks or so ive been so bored all i can do is run back and forth between houses,I love this game and High end content and profession fixes is definately what we need.

While i personally understand it takes time to get publishes out the long period between them lately is frustrating to everyone.

5 Issues/Questions I have

1.Can I get an answer if the Prepaid cards have been discontinued,They are becoming very hard to find and are my ONLY way of playing ,Alot of stores i go to tell me they arent coming back either this concerns me alot as its my only way to pay.

2.If there was a city purge even tho we all worked to get our metropolis cities why not lift some of the restrictions on citizen requirements so we can keep our civic structures like shuttleports, and cloners If there is a purge i stand to lose ALOT of people in my city and will probably end up as a lvl 2 village.

3.Decay,I'd keep that pvp only like planned and away from quest rewards but make it on standard craftable items,Its not easy to get something like a Lava Crystal Per say and i definately dont want to end up running quests 100 more times to get the whole guild one again lol.

4.This new bounty system,Someone like me is purely pve except for big weekend pvp events isnt there some way possible where we can get an option to "Opt in" at a bounty terminal so we cant be hunted if we dont want to be,I know plenty of people who want to and this new system will still be very much used but I personally want to see an option to say no to it.

5.You Eluded to guilds having a star destroyer,What is the status of this and when is it coming.

Just my 2 cents,I dont post much since i am a supporter of the NGE and most people only want to hear "PRE CU FTW" lol.

In my opinion you guys are going in the right direction but we need more content and more stuff to do,Its been so quiet around here lately from most of the devs,Keep going in time i know this game will be even better.

Ok, let me get this straight. You want the traders to RE loot instead of be able to craft even better goods through the use of CA's to give them more experimentation points. If this is correct, I seriously want to know just what feedback you got from the trader community that even hinted that we want to be glorified component analysis tools. I want to craft great products, not be somebodies walking, talking Reverse Engineering tool.

Smed, I have a valid quesiton for you... I don't think you've already answered it.. if so.. my bad.

What I would like to know is.. is anything being done about the broken "action packed" combat system? Like the issue of it being so fast that servers can't keep up with it. For example, the MAJOR iusse with speicals not working... getting messeges like "You can not attack while fighting".. and so on and so on.. Do you know if it is being addressed?

I know this is a loaded question, but I think the community deserves an answer.  I know this is one of the things I've been upset about for a while.

Yes it's a loaded question, but I'll answer it. I think people that believe they are paying for a beta quit. Am I happy with the state of the game? No way. Do I think it's entertaining for a lot of people? Yes, or we wouldn't have subscribers. Is it good enough? Not yet.. no.

So no, I don't think people are paying for a beta. Again, I'm sure by the very nature of the question that you'll disagree.. but there it is.

Smed

I would like to respectfully disagree with you.  I myself am one of these people.  I know of many others that feel this way too.  If you don't believe me, do a poll on it.

ok. Maybe you're right. I think what you're saying is "I'm a loyal customer that thinks the game isn't in shape to where I should be paying". Is it entertaining you?

Smed

Honestly... NO!  At the risk of upsetting my community, I have been bored to tears since the NGE.  I stay in the game not because I am a loyal customer to SOE, but because I am loyal to the community that I am a part of.  I would be interested in a poll that asks people if they feel like they are paying to beta test a product for SOE.  Would you be interested to see if I am right that I think many people feel this way?

    JoodahMacabee ,

Thank you for the clarification, and I think if ANYONE who isn't working on the swg emu projects knows what they are up against,
I'd say I would be qualified to give you a "yes" answer in regards to yours.

As I told someone who PM'ed me asking about the emu. No, I'm not part of the project, I'd honestly rather help THIS SWG become better
than devoting my time to people I don't know who may or may not be successful.

My problem is I'm not a game developer or some other sort of gaming world rockstar therefore I'm not taken seriously.

On top of projects for NASA and Los Alamos, I've also worked on other projects. One would be an earth simulator.

Trust me, swg's worlds and data are NOTHING compared to the amount of data being handled and written to/accessed from a database of the entire planet.

I'd love to be a server engineer for SOE, I interviewed with Perpetual to be on the ST Server team, but... as usual, it's very hard to get a break in this industry.

Anyways, to the matter at hand. I'm not saying the emu peeps will have it easy. I'm just saying SQL and C/C++ isn't exactly rocket science,
and even rocket science is just basic physics, Trig and Calculus. ;-)
