Will we ever see Clothing and Armor Attachments drop again? Crafters right now are getting screwed because they can't get any more experimentation points since they aren't dropping.

Someone from the dev team please answer this question.

Smed

The reverse engineering system planned for the trader revamp will replace things like clothing and armor attachments.  In the mean time, it's unlikely that we will add content that will be replaced with an upcoming publish.  So the short answer is we don't plan on adding too much to trader until we do their revamp.

Very glad to see you interacting with the player base that is represented by the forums.  While you are correct that "communication" will not improve morale in and of itself...it is a necessity in our society.  Without it...companies have crumpled...wars have been lost...and families destroyed.  You are doing a "great" job communicating today...as the many posts to this thread can attest to...and I for one, am glad to see it.  Keep up the good work...and allow communication like this to occur more frequently and more openly.  This will help the player base know what is going on with the game they "love" and have "bonded" with...as well as beginning the "healing" process for all those that feel their vocal outcry has fallen on deaf ears when it comes to SOE/LA.

Question: Know that the development time line often runs into snags, etc... that delay release of new content/fixes...but, is there any word yet on the status of Publish 28?  Is it still a go, or has "new" material delayed its arrival even further?

/Cheers for more publishes with "new" content/fixes/etc...that doesn't require the purchase of a "new" expansion!

I've asked the devs to jump in - Rogue 5 - go ahead and bust out your current target live date (I will now wait as the dev team sends someone to beat me up). Last I heard mid-April with it going to test in early April.

We are expecting to get Publish 28 to Test Center late next week.  Right now it looks like Publish 28 will hit the live galaxies on April 18th.

I know this is a loaded question, but I think the community deserves an answer.  I know this is one of the things I've been upset about for a while.

Yes it's a loaded question, but I'll answer it. I think people that believe they are paying for a beta quit. Am I happy with the state of the game? No way. Do I think it's entertaining for a lot of people? Yes, or we wouldn't have subscribers. Is it good enough? Not yet.. no.

So no, I don't think people are paying for a beta. Again, I'm sure by the very nature of the question that you'll disagree.. but there it is.

Smed

I would like to respectfully disagree with you.  I myself am one of these people.  I know of many others that feel this way too.  If you don't believe me, do a poll on it.

ok. Maybe you're right. I think what you're saying is "I'm a loyal customer that thinks the game isn't in shape to where I should be paying". Is it entertaining you?

Smed

I know Melvar and play with him on Eclipse (the person you replied to) and all I can say is that I'm in the same boat as him, and NO it is not entertaining me, I haven't logged in for weeks due to CSR's unable or unwilling to fix a bugged item.  The game is beta, the support stinks, but I'm loyal to the Star Wars brand, my guild and my server.

Why take away crafting spice? I enjoyed it and if some smugglers didnt they didnt have to.

Why take away slicing - same? I enjoyed it and if some smugglers didn't they didn'y have to.

Why take away bases - I enjoyed grouping with friends on a regular basis for this and now vets are left with nothing execpt pvp for the "GCW"

Why take away faction pets? They werent that good anyway...but most enjoyed them.

My Jedi is common place and bored and my smuggler is stuck at 82 having done most quests pre-nge (would have been 83 but thanks soe I was 99% way there and out of fustration for dead smuggler proffesion respected and lost whole level)

CH is missed - even if most didn't have it as master as i belive you said once. When you lets the nge loose i lost a toon that was almost done grinding BH/CH

Some people actually liked to grind - meaning we liked to be able to drop boxes and mix and match.

John, I just want to state that this thread is living proof of how many people WANT to play the game and love it but cannot.

For every one of us "vocal minority" that stays and complains, there are 2 non-vocal majorities that are going to other (and NON SOE) games.

Fix the game. You have the power to make it right... for us... for you... for everyone.

JoodahMacabee,

I NEVER said I was trying to do the emulator. I've been keeping tabs on it, and what they've done so far is pretty impressive.
The challenge will be handling the massive amount of data re-construction. Analyzing packets is the EASY part.

What I am saying is that anyone with a few years of experience in the IT industry will know c/c++ and SQL.

When I say experience, I don't mean the computer counter at BestBuy/Fry's or the help desk at some call center.

Oh, Mr. Smedley. Maybe THIS will get your attention:

SWG-Swede mentions his "secret" project here:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ngepilot&message.id=50139#M50139

I used a fancy new thing called "Dev Tracker" ;-)

Didn't mean to say you were doing it, sorry I meant the people out there doing it. Look, lets not kid ourselves, do you understand how much stuff there is in the game, objects, scripts, databases that need to work smoothly with source code that no one out there has?

Sure, I'll concede someone can somehow do this. But I doubt any more than a few people will be able to play it at once, nor will it run all that well. Name an emulator for an mmo of this size that allows more than a few people to play together. It is simply not a viable solution. People are so frigging stubborn, that because they think their ball was taken away from them, they can make their own ball. Again, I say, good luck to them. I'd suggest people not hold their breath waiting for that.

they wont keep it up, just like before they did this because a lot of people quit due to the current outcry to the task force bravo nerf so they are on damage control.  they have done it before, then we go thru long periods with little of meaningless interaction from the DEVs.

Smed I'm still waiting for an answer to my questions I posted here earlier.

You cannot be serious!  Where do they come up with it?  Have you forgotten your "October Surprise" NGE rollout?  I would consider that a secrete Project considering your told us the CU would be it and that it was here to stay.  I would also consider it a "secrete project" because with the rumor mill started about it you all denied it (Even though it was true).  Of course, I would also consider your CU a surprise as it was not what we were discussing during the Alpha Testing (which, by the way, never tested anything).

I have to say, from most dev posts during the past 6 months, they have a habbit of spinning things to make it sound like we are just whiners. I feel like they come in here sometimes and say "how can you people be so stupid!" Sure, maybe they don't mean it this way, but they need to step back and look at it from our side of the screen.

I outlined this in a previous episode of our podcast - after the first "letters from the producers" failed to stand up to what we expected. The reply from the devs (I use that term to include Smed, TH, and other folks) sorta felt like "what the hell did you think it was going to be?" Yet, for two months these letters were referenced by devs and mods. I remember now, we actually went through the entire listing of posts that lead people to expect more from those letters. You can check it out here: http://swgpodcast.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=58815

To end this post on a happy note, we did get a much more detailed publish plan finally, and while it didn't answer all my questions, it *was* what I was expecting to see in the first place. So kudos for that.

When you have an opinion about the way the game should be (as we ALL do) it's logical to try and support that position. I believe you have steadily seen a change of tone from us from "everything is fine" to "we're working on the problems".

Improving our communication is going to be a critical part of achieving this goal.  We recognize that our success is determined in large part by our ability to listen to players, ask for feedback, initiate research and stay true to the brand. We want your continued support.  Your input is critical to our process and we will continue to bounce ideas off the community, put new content on our Test Centers and probe for your ideas.  Together we can take this game to the next level of excitement.

This year, our commitment to you is to bring back the spirit of Star Wars with more focus on the “wars”, the characters, the adventures, and battles that hearken back to the movie adventures.  We have a lot of fun planned, a lot of quality improvement, and a lot of bug fixing – so get ready for an exciting year that will remind you of why you love SWG

We are almost thru the first quarter, and outside of 1 week the communication has actually been much much much worse then 2005 and there has been not even the slightest hint of the spirit of Star Wars returning.

I'm going to call you out on this - I'm going to say you are flat out incorrect on this. Our communication has been terrific. I can't say you neccessarily like what we've been saying, but I think our community people and our devs have been much more active than before. I never liked that system of correspondents before (they did a great job..don't get me wrong) but I prefer direct communication.

Smed

so just to reiterate...... when the servers go down AFTER they have come back up from a reset on an unannounced day, and we only learn WHY 2 hours AFTER they come back up again......this is the terrific communication we are to be thankful for?

Publish fixes being announced 2 hours after SOE installs them.....

Servers going down for hours and only after 1200 posts have been made does SOE post saying there is "an issue"

I am sorry, but I am calling you out sir..... you are flat out WRONG........

Hi smed

Thanks for answering all the q's.

The one thing I really want to know is, not long before the NGE was announced, really cool ranger changes were in the works. What happend, was the dev team un-aware that you were having meetings about re-vamping the game? Thats the kind of lies we are talking about, promising cool changes to ranger, to find out that they will be removed in a couple of weeks is no joke. Like you said, trust must be earned, but its extremly hard to trust you guys with the stuff you put us through.
