Thank you.
Is everything currently in the game set in stone, or can we have a discussion about that too?

To be clear on this - I sent Gabe a private email which he proceeded to post. I have no problems with people criticizing our games. I felt he was a little harsh on the actual people that made them.. that's all. That's also the first time I had emailed Gabe and complained about anything.. ever.
In 15 years in this business I have never once had an obviously private email posted like that. It was extremely unprofessional and I thought it was a pretty cheap shot.
Smed
So is refusing to help with a charity that helps bring relief to children in hospitals because the people who run it said they don't like the art style of a video game your company made.
And how do you know what he or Soe gives money to? "charity" most people don't need to brag out giving money to charity, unless there only doing it to make them selfs look like A bigger person"or showiing off there money"
Think before you post
Did you read my other posts? Or the Penny-Arcade site?
It was not about them refusing to help a charity. It was the way that they went about refusing it, and the reason why they refused.
I choose not to give money to organizations all the time, for all kinds of reasons.
Never once have I made the decision on the basis of what the person said about my hair, my yard, my job performance, or anything else about me.
And even when I have refused, I have NEVER been so rude as to indirectly refuse by quoting a statement of opinion someone who helps the charity wrote to them.

Actually I'm a strong believer in public commentary, debate and criticism.
It does not appear to the Smuggler, Entertainer, or Trader communities that you genuinely DO believe that.
Asking any developer to ever make a post of substance and follow up in any of those three forums would do a large service to yourselves in having us believe that you want "public commentary, debate and criticism."
As of right now, I feel that you want "public silence, statements of how well we are doing, and support."
It's been said multiple times that they will share that information when it is available. If it isn't yet available, I'm not sure what they could post except, "we'll post more when that information is available."
Besides, he said he was a fan of "public commentary, debate, and criticism". In no way does that imply that he participates. I know everyone hates the NGE and has the opportunity to attack Smed when they know he is listening, but let's try not to read things between the lines that aren't there.

so Smed. Is your company going to start building this game around what the community wants? By discussing future plans instead of just doing them?
You guys have been communicating alot better. I hope it continues.
They don't want debate or communication or any of that... devs post in first 1 or 2 pages of a thread, then it becomes heated and they pull out and maybe show up on page 10 or 47 or whatever for another brief comment. Many of those who post on the forums could run circles around those at SOE when it comes to a debate simply because the community has many well-versed, passionate and diehard fans of SWG and Star Wars. It wouldn't really be a fair argument. The community remembers quotes from SOE/LA execs in newspapers, magazines and talkshows. Some watch every move they make just to make sure they don't screw up... would you get into a debate with a community that has THAT much dirt on you? Probably not hehe.

What if those discussions lead to use wanting pre-cu back ?

ok....thats fine, but let me ask you a question....you and the other devs said that you are making this game more starwarsy....then why does the command "force meditate" look like we are stiking a stim in our arm???? i mean shouldnt we be meditating like a jedi does in the movies/books/comics/games? how is that starwarsy ?? so please add the apropriate animation back to it.

That's what you said when the NGE was coming out.
And when Publish 26 was coming out.
And when Publish 27 was coming out.
And now with Publish 28.
The Developer Introductions brought us no longstanding developer communication.
The Future Content Discussion brought us only the information that SOE will not be developing class-specific content.
The Publish 28 information obviously was ill-conceived, because the overwhelming outcry is, "We did not want it this way...Why would you think we would?"
The reason is this: You can say that the developers interact and talk and give all kinds of discussion regarding upcoming features.
But that is just not happening from our point of view.
Put up a feedback thread in the Entertainer forum that says this:
"Publish 28:
Currently, we are looking at giving Entertainers combat abilities in Publish 28 in order to increase the amount of content they can experience. We would like to have a discussion on this issue with you, the dedicated Entertainers of SWG. We will be monitoring and posting in this thread, so please keep things on-topic and relevant."
Then we'll feel like you're talking to us.
Not with a Publish Plan that will inadequately address everything.
Talk to us individually. There is not one group in SWG that knows what is best for all of us, and that includes SOE. So do yourself a favor and actually give us the communication you say you want.
We will give you all the directed feedback you could ask for.
P.S. Make-A-Wish is a good charity, that is very nice that you help them.

This would be exactly correct.
Smed
Precisely. If any of us went public and posted on forums about how much money we donated to the Red Cross after 9/11, or after Katrina, it spoils the whole spirit behind DOING such things.
SMed while i dont agree with everythign you have done for this game that in no way entitles me or anyone else to this pointless and childish slander so keep your head up and your ears open to the cominity and were all good

It's more about the amount of time it takes to be in here that's all. They continue to follow threads and jump in as often as they can.
